Invincible through Touching Corpses

Chapter 703 - 673: Fighting the Hunter

The lines formed by the starlight were, of course, the Starlight Chain cast by Qian Xingxiu.

Starlight Chain was an extremely powerful Control Ability. It could be cast almost instantly, with no delay.

More importantly, it was a form of absolute Strong Control. The Superpower contained within the Starlight Chain couldn’t be broken until it was completely exhausted.

In a one-on-one situation against an enemy of the same level, Qian Xingxiu’s Superpower reserves were enough to immobilize them for up to half a minute before he ran out.

Of course, the Fourth Level Mutated Zombie was a full three major levels above him. Normally, even if he exhausted all his Superpower, he couldn’t hold it for even an instant. However, things were different when Qian Xingxiu was piloting his Rare Level Mecha.

Once the Starlight Chain Superpower was amplified twentyfold, the chains it produced were no longer thin threads but as thick as a thumb, their restraining power massively increased.

The Starlight Chains appeared and instantly bound the Hunter, freezing its high-speed charge in place.

If one were to observe the Hunter up close at that moment, they would have clearly seen the look of astonishment on its face.

’It’s one thing to suddenly grow weaker for no reason, but now I’m being held in place by a bunch of pathetic insects?’ In addition to its shock, it grew furious.

The Hunter stomped its feet, causing the ground to cave in. It used the immense kinetic energy to continue its charge while simultaneously swinging its arms at incredible speeds, releasing a torrent of Original Force to strike the Starlight Chains binding it.

SNAP! SNAP! SNAP!

A dozen thumb-thick Starlight Chains were all shattered in a single second.

Inside his Mecha, Qian Xingxiu spat out a mouthful of blood, his face turning ashen.

This was due not only to the immense consumption of his Superpower but also to the backlash from having his chains forcibly broken.

Despite this, a faint smile appeared on Qian Xingxiu’s face.

The members of the Xinghai Squad had already formulated an incredibly detailed plan.

And Qian Xingxiu’s Starlight Chain was a critical part of it.

Because many Superpowers weren’t targeted or instantaneous, the squad needed a small window of time to accurately strike the Hunter.

And it was Qian Xingxiu’s job to buy them that time—even if it was only a single second.

Now, Qian Xingxiu had successfully delayed the creature for one second, just as planned.

The moment the others saw the Starlight Chain light up, they immediately unleashed their own Superpowers with full force.

Besides Qian Xingxiu, the person with the next strongest Control Ability on the field was Jiang Zijin with his Absolute Zero.

As the Hunter broke free of the Starlight Chain, the air around it instantly froze solid. The chilling energy continued to seep into its body.

After being boosted by a Superpower Amplifier, the Rare Level superpower Absolute Zero was already terrifying. Since the Hunter wasn’t known for its physical fortitude, it was actually affected, its body showing signs of frostbite.

And they weren’t the only two among the fifty members of the Xinghai Squad with Control Abilities. The instant the ice formed, countless vines erupted from the ground, enveloping the frozen mass.

Outside the green vines, a cage of solid rock took shape.

In addition, the ground began to turn to sand, coalescing into massive stone pythons that slithered into the cage and coiled around the ice, which was already on the verge of shattering.

Although this succession of Control Abilities wasn’t Strong Control and lacked the absolute binding power of the Starlight Chain—meaning the Hunter could find a weak point to break through—they still managed to delay it for another full second.

All told, through their combined efforts, the team had held the Hunter in place for two seconds.

Two seconds wasn’t a long time by any means, but in a high-stakes battle like this, it was by no means short either.

It was enough time for everyone to launch an all-out attack.

Countless Fireballs, Ice Arrows, Stone Cones, Metal Storms, and even some powerful Space Abilities were all perfectly timed to bombard the Hunter the very instant it was about to break free from all the Control Abilities.

On top of that, the conventional weapons Little Fatty had purchased were not just for show. Guided by the AI system, Grenade Cannons, Mortars, Purgatory Bombs, personal rocket launchers, and all the Micro Missiles carried by the Mechas were unleashed at once.

BOOM! RUMBLE!

A towering inferno erupted, and the massive explosion echoed through several nearby streets.

The overlapping explosions completely obliterated the street where the Hunter had been standing. The continuous shockwaves caused buildings on both sides of the street to collapse one after another.

With such dense and terrifying covering fire, a Third Level Mutated Zombie at the Body Shaping Realm would have been blown to bits, not even a corpse left to find.

But now, everyone stared grimly at the fireball before them. Although they couldn’t see anything, those who had mastered the Investigation Technique could clearly sense the powerful aura within. It had weakened, but the blow had not been fatal.

The creature’s aura had weakened by only a third, at most.

Just then, they saw a figure shoot backward out of the fireball, putting distance between itself and them.

It was the Hunter. It showed no visible injuries; only the once-solid Force Barrier around its body had grown incredibly thin.

In other words, their barrage of attacks hadn’t even managed to physically harm it. They had only weakened its Elemental Power.

It was only at this moment that they truly understood the power of a Fourth Level Mutated Zombie.

And this was a Hunter, known for having the weakest Defense Power. If they had been facing a Mutated Zombie with high defense, their meticulously planned attack might not have even put a dent in its Original Force.

After retreating some distance, the Hunter charged again at top speed. This time, however, it was far more cautious, constantly changing its path as it advanced.

Under these conditions, neither the ammunition fired by the AI system nor the Superpowers unleashed by the students could even touch the Hunter.

"Execute Plan B! Retreat!" Little Fatty yelled.

The tightly packed Mechas instantly scattered. Of course, they didn’t move too far apart, maintaining a distance of about ten meters between each unit. This allowed them to cover one another without breaking formation.

Of course, the crucial part of Plan B wasn’t the pilots themselves, but the Combat Robots and Attack Drones that were now deploying from the Armored Vehicles.
