Invincible through Touching Corpses
Chapter 699 - 669: The Real Crisis (Part 1)
After listening to Lin Xinghai’s analysis, Little Fatty felt his scalp tingle.
He had originally thought the Abyssal Plane’s latest attack was already terrifying enough. If it hadn’t been for Lin Xinghai, they would have never made it out.
But according to Lin Xinghai’s theory, the Abyssal Plane’s real attack hadn’t even begun!
"Then, Boss, what should we do?" Little Fatty asked, swallowing nervously.
"We stick to the original plan and keep running. We can’t avoid what’s coming. Besides, the faster we move, the less of an impact their attack will have on us."
"If we can escape this green Poisonous Fog District and rendezvous with the army stationed at the outer defense line, they won’t be able to threaten us, even if they send Fourth Level Mutated Zombies," Lin Xinghai said.
Little Fatty had nothing more to say after hearing that. He just passed the order along, telling everyone to speed up.
But what was bound to come would come eventually.
Just as they were about to escape the Trap District, Lin Xinghai once again felt an intense sense of danger.
Immediately, his Perception Power spread downward, seeping deep underground.
By now, the ground beneath the Trap District had been carved into a network of countless tunnels by those Magma Demons, resembling a sprawling spiderweb.
And these Blood Demons were still constantly expanding the tunnels outward.
These tunnels could serve as expressways for the Mutated Zombies, and if the enemy moved through them, it would be extremely difficult for the military to interfere.
However, the existence of these tunnels wasn’t entirely a bad thing for Lin Xinghai. His Perception Power was normally hindered by the soil and rock, reducing its detection range tenfold.
If he sent his Perception Power along these tunnels, however, its range wouldn’t be diminished at all. The only drawback was that his detection would be limited to the tunnels themselves.
But that was enough. As long as he could probe these tunnels, he could effectively track the movements of the Abyssal Creatures.
Right then, his Perception detected several new tunnels connecting to the outer edges of the vast underground network.
To his shock, what emerged from these new tunnels were all Fourth Level Mutated Zombies—a hundred of them.
This was just one of the Trap Districts, yet the enemy had already laid an ambush with a hundred Fourth Level Mutated Zombies. And there were four such districts in total.
If the enemy had deployed such forces in every Trap District, it would mean the Abyssal Plane had just added 400 Divine Demon Realm powerhouses to its ranks.
This was a force that could undoubtedly turn the tide of battle in an instant.
After discovering this, even someone with Lin Xinghai’s composure couldn’t remain calm.
But he quickly forced himself to calm down. ’That’s a problem for the military to worry about. My job is to get out of here safely.’
He realized that this newly appeared batch of Fourth Level Mutated Zombies seemed to have specific targets.
After entering the underground network, they quickly dispersed, rushing toward their respective targets through the various tunnels.
’Damn, they really think highly of me,’ Lin Xinghai thought. His Perception Power scanned 7,800 meters of tunnels, and he quickly identified which Mutated Zombies were coming for him.
According to his scans, the other squads were, at most, being pursued by a single Fourth Level Mutated Zombie each.
Of course, the type of Mutated Zombie dispatched by the Abyssal Plane varied depending on a squad’s strength. Weaker squads would only face Blood Worms or Spitters, Abyssal Creatures that weren’t adept at frontal assaults.
Meanwhile, the top-tier squads would face Giant Arms and Death Claws—Fourth Level Mutated Zombies with immense power in direct combat.
Of course, regardless of the type, once a Mutated Zombie reached the Fourth Level, it was a being on par with the Divine Demon Realm.
Any single one of them could easily crush a student squad like theirs in a head-on battle.
Lin Xinghai had predicted he would be hunted by a Death Claw or a Giant Arm, so he was mentally prepared for that possibility.
But what he hadn’t expected was that the Mutated Zombies hunting him included both types.
On top of that, they had sent a Hunter, a type that excelled at ambushes.
Lin Xinghai had previously told Little Fatty that he was confident he could handle one Mutated Zombie. But if two came, the rest of Xinghai Squad would have to rely on themselves to escape.
But he hadn’t been telling the whole truth. If two Mutated Zombies had come, he was confident he could find an opportunity to take one out first. Then, with the rest of Xinghai Squad’s help, wearing down the second one wouldn’t have been a huge problem.
But the appearance of three Mutated Zombies at once was truly beyond his expectations.
Although he had considered the possibility of facing three Mutated Zombies in a worst-case scenario, he had thought the probability was extremely low.
It was like sending three Divine Demon Realm experts to deal with a single, weak Marrow Tempering Realm practitioner—it just sounded absurd.
But no matter how absurd, it was happening, and Lin Xinghai had to face it.
After a brief moment of shock, he snapped back to reality and roared at Little Fatty, "Contact Instructor Zuo for help now! Tell him we’re being hunted by a total of three Fourth Level Mutated Zombies!"
Hearing Lin Xinghai’s roar, everyone felt as if thunder had just cracked beside their ears. It wasn’t how loud he was, but the information his words conveyed that was so utterly terrifying.
Everyone knew exactly what three Fourth Level Mutated Zombies meant.
So, in that moment, their hearts were filled with terror.
Their only solace was that they had made thorough preparations before coming here.
Little Fatty jolted, then immediately pulled a Communication Device from inside his clothes. He pressed a button and repeated Lin Xinghai’s words.
His Communication Device was directly linked to a high-powered signal transmitter inside their Armored Vehicle.
Previously, when Lin Xinghai and Zuo Wenya had been discussing the plan, Lin Xinghai had asked how Zuo Wenya would be able to locate them quickly.
Zuo Wenya had given him a special frequency band. As long as they broadcasted on it, they could contact him, and he would be able to use his instruments to quickly pinpoint Lin Xinghai’s location.
When Zuo Wenya first proposed this solution, Lin Xinghai had been doubtful. After all, here in the green Poisonous Fog District, all types of detection equipment were severely hindered.
But Zuo Wenya had told him not to worry about it.
Lin Xinghai hadn’t understood why until he saw the Mecha unit descending from the sky and spraying the white mist. Only then did he finally realize that the military actually had a way to neutralize the green poisonous fog.
By now, the concentration of the surrounding green poisonous fog had been reduced by more than half. The high-powered signal transmitter in their Armored Vehicle was more than capable of sending a signal dozens of kilometers away.
