Invincible through Touching Corpses

Chapter 677 - 647: Speculation and Preparations (Part 1)

After six missions, the Xinghai Squad’s gains were immense.

It was worth noting that all the missions Lin Xinghai and his team accepted were extermination missions. Compared to other types of missions, these required killing several times the number of Abyssal Creatures.

Furthermore, as time went on, the proportion of Abyssal Creatures containing Blood Bags was also steadily increasing. This caused the number of Blood Bags they harvested from each mission to climb rapidly.

"Boss, this wave of Zombies had four Blood Bags in total. These two are yours." Little Fatty scurried over, holding two Blood Bags in his hands.

Lin Xinghai took the Blood Bags, poured the liquefied Blood Qi Power into his mouth, and asked, "How many Blood Bags have we gotten from this mission in total?"

"103 in total," Little Fatty replied immediately.

Lin Xinghai did a quick mental calculation. ’So that means in one afternoon, we’ve already obtained 480 Blood Bags.’

"Mhm, that’s right." Little Fatty nodded. This was an absolutely incredible number, something other squads could hardly imagine.

Although at least a third of them had been allocated to Lin Xinghai because of Contribution Points, the others had each consumed at least four or five Blood Bags over the course of the afternoon.

This was no small amount, equivalent to each person consuming forty to fifty Nine Yang Blood Pills.

Under these circumstances, many members at the Blood Qi Realm Middle Stage had broken through directly to the Blood Qi Realm Late Stage. As for Special Class Students like Yan Feijie, who were already in the Late Stage, they had gone straight to the Peak of the Blood Qi Realm.

This rate of improvement was unimaginable for everyone.

It also made them crave Blood Bags even more.

After some hesitation, Little Fatty spoke up. "Boss, many of the members are asking if we can go deeper into the green Poisonous Fog District to carry out missions in the central zone."

"I heard the ratio of Blood Bags is higher there. In some places, the ratio of Abyssal Creatures to Blood Bags can even reach a terrifying 5-to-1."

The green Poisonous Fog District was actually divided into distinct zones: the outer zone, the central zone, and the core zone.

The most dangerous, of course, was the core zone. That was where the Abyssal Passage was located, and it was the battlefield for Divine Demon Realm experts and Fourth Level Mutated Zombies.

For student squads, it was an absolute restricted area that no one dared to enter.

As for the central zone, as its name implied, it was the area in the middle. The danger level there wasn’t low either, because the military’s Divine Demon Realm experts couldn’t completely seal off the entire core zone, so a Fourth Level Mutated Zombie would wander out from time to time.

If you were to carry out a mission in the central zone, there was basically a one-in-four chance of encountering a Fourth Level Mutated Zombie.

The place where they were currently operating was the outer zone, an area that generally didn’t extend more than three kilometers into the green poisonous fog.

In the outer zone, although it was still the Mutated Zombies’ home turf, the military was able to maintain a certain degree of surveillance. The probability of encountering a Fourth Level Mutated Zombie dropped significantly, with at most a one-in-ten chance.

Even if a Fourth Level Mutated Zombie was active here, the military would likely detect it and notify nearby squads in advance.

For instance, Lin Xinghai and his squad had been carrying out extermination missions all afternoon without encountering a single Fourth Level Mutated Zombie.

However, the proportion of Abyssal Creatures carrying Blood Bags was also much lower in the outer zone. Even with the recent increase in the drop rate, it still took at least thirty Abyssal Creatures to find one with a Blood Bag.

In other words, if Lin Xinghai’s team annihilated a horde of a hundred Abyssal Creatures, they would only get about three Blood Bags.

The reason they were able to obtain so many Blood Bags in a single afternoon was purely because the extermination missions they accepted were in areas where the number of Abyssal Creatures was never less than 3,000.

They had compensated for the low drop rate purely through the sheer volume of Abyssal Creatures they killed.

But in the central zone, the ratio of Abyssal Creatures to Blood Bags was 10-to-1 or better. In some places, as Little Fatty had said, it could reach the terrifying rate of 5-to-1.

One could just imagine: at a 5-to-1 ratio, killing 3,000 Abyssal Creatures wouldn’t yield 100 Blood Bags, but a whopping 600.

In that case, a single mission would be equivalent to their entire afternoon’s harvest.

It was precisely for this reason that even someone as afraid of death as Little Fatty couldn’t help but make such a request to Lin Xinghai.

When Lin Xinghai heard Little Fatty’s question, he didn’t answer directly. Instead, he said with a faint smile, "Since when did you get so bold?"

"Well... it’s not that I’m being bold! It shouldn’t be a huge problem, right? During the last mission, I made a point to ask around. It seems the central zone isn’t that dangerous anymore. The chance of running into a Fourth Level Mutated Zombie is one-in-five at most."

"I heard it’s because our Divine Demon Realm experts have cultivated a Secret Technique that lets them unleash terrifying Attack Power in an instant. They’ve already killed quite a few Fourth Level Mutated Zombies. We’re no longer at a disadvantage on the top-tier battlefield; we might even be gaining the upper hand."

"A lot of people are speculating that the danger level in the central zone will decrease even further. Besides, even if we do encounter a Fourth Level Mutated Zombie, we have Cloud Burst Bombs, so it’s not like something bad is guaranteed to happen."

"There have been several squads before that used Cloud Burst Bombs to force a Fourth Level Mutated Zombie to back off, allowing them to retreat successfully." Little Fatty blurted out everything he knew, then looked at Lin Xinghai with an expectant expression.

Seeing his expectant face, Lin Xinghai just sighed. "I know everything you’ve said. But that’s precisely why I don’t dare lead you all that deep."

Seeing Little Fatty’s confused expression, he explained, "We’re all aware that the Blood Bags are an overt scheme by the Abyssal Plane."

"They wouldn’t let us keep taking advantage of something this good for free. In fact, the easier it becomes to get Blood Bags, the more deadly the situation is."

As Lin Xinghai spoke, he looked up at the sky. It had grown completely dark.

Normally, a typical Blood and Qi Realm Martial Artist would have at least one meter of visibility in the green Poisonous Fog District, but now that night had fallen, it had truly become so dark you couldn’t see your hand in front of your face.

"If I’m not mistaken, if the Abyssal Plane is really going to make a move, it’ll probably be tonight."

"So? Do you still want to go into the central zone now?" Lin Xinghai asked with that same faint smile.

Now it was Little Fatty’s turn to hesitate. He asked weakly, "Even if the Abyssal Plane makes a move, it should be against everyone, right? We can’t be *that* unlucky!"

"And with you protecting us, Boss, even if we run into a Fourth Level Mutated Zombie, we should be able to retreat successfully, right?"
