Chapter 773: Chapter 703: The Entrance to the War Relics

’A Rank Three Peak Demon King?’

"Who on earth are you?"

Feng Linjie was utterly shocked. The power dynamic in the Yaoling Mountain Range had long since shifted. To possess the strength of a Rank Three Peak now... there was only one possibility.

The image of a world-defying Demon King surfaced in his mind, but Feng Linjie couldn’t be sure. His horrified eyes were fixed on Tu Xiao’an, waiting for an answer.

"The Snake Emperor of the Yaoling Mountain Range."

Tu Xiao’an regarded Feng Linjie with a cold expression. Though they were standing on the same level, his frost-like eyes were enough to make one’s heart clench.

"What? You’re really the Snake Emperor of the Yaoling Mountain Range?" Feng Linjie had already guessed as much, but hearing him confirm it himself was still a profound shock.

He was completely stunned, especially when a colossal, spectral image of a Giant Snake manifested above Tu Xiao’an’s head.

The suffocating feeling of death immediately washed over him.

And what was the Snake Emperor?

He was a legend, a god born from a snake.

Legend had it that when the Snake Emperor was still just a Snake Spirit, he underwent his Tribulation Crossing in the Yaoling Mountain Range. Afterward, he immediately became the new Snake King of the powerful Snake Race. Not long after, he decisively slew the White Demon King, one of the Five Great Deep Mountain Demon Kings.

His name and prestige soared from that day forward.

Later, two of the Deep Mountain Demon Kings united with the armies of the Twelve Great Races to attack She Mountain, yet he repelled them all, single-handedly and with ease.

Even more terrifyingly, he killed both Deep Mountain Demon Kings. With his awe-inspiring might, he was finally acknowledged by the Ten Thousand Races and became the first Overlord in the history of the Yaoling Mountain Range.

He was hailed as the Snake Emperor, the unifier of the Yaoling Mountain Range.

These feats had long since spread throughout the human Martial Cultivation Realm, where the Snake Emperor was regarded with an awe befitting a celestial serpent.

The Human and Demon Races were inextricably linked. How could a High Rank War God like Feng Linjie possibly be unaware of such momentous events?

But he never expected to run into the legendary, majestically aloof Snake Emperor on Skeleton Mountain—and in such a youthful, refined form.

’Shouldn’t he look more like the terrifying, legendary Great Demon King of the World?’

After a long moment, Feng Linjie snapped out of his shock. He immediately gave Tu Xiao’an a slight bow and said respectfully, "I pay my respects to Lord Snake Emperor. I was unaware of your identity and acted offensively just now. Please forgive my transgression."

His status as the Overlord of the Yaoling Mountain Range was unquestionably high.

Even as a High Rank War God of the human race, he had to act with fear and trepidation before such a figure, with his tail tucked between his legs.

Besides, leaving aside his status as Overlord of the Demon Race, his Rank Three Peak strength alone was more than enough to crush him.

Of course, Tu Xiao’an’s true Realm had not yet reached Rank Three Peak, but his aura and strength were widely considered to be at that level.

"Enough nonsense. Lead the way," Tu Xiao’an said, his gaze on Feng Linjie cold and impassive.

Cold sweat trickled down Feng Linjie’s back. He gritted his teeth and remained rooted to the spot; he really didn’t want to go back.

He had just barely managed to escape from the War Relics.

’And now I’m supposed to go back and get myself killed?’

"What, you’re unwilling?" A cold glint flashed in Tu Xiao’an’s eyes as he instantly unleashed a terrifying aura, one that plunged others into an abyss of despair.

Feng Linjie flinched and hurriedly said, "It is my honor to lead the way for Lord Snake Emperor."

Given the ferocity of this king of the Demon Race, Feng Linjie had no doubt that if he dared to refuse again, the man would not hesitate to kill him.

And he was more than capable of doing so.

"Lead the way."

Tu Xiao’an’s voice was utterly devoid of warmth.

By now, the Skeleton Monster had reassembled itself on the ground. It pointed and shrieked at Feng Linjie, looking as if it wanted to settle a score.

But given the man’s powerful Cultivation, all it could do was act tough by borrowing its master’s might.

Feng Linjie gave a sheepish smile and ignored the Skeleton Monster.

He could already tell that this Skeleton Monster was with Tu Xiao’an.

Otherwise, he could have annihilated a low-level monster like this with a flick of his finger. He certainly wouldn’t have tolerated it running its mouth in front of him.

’Utterly senseless.’

And so, the task of leading the way, which had originally fallen to the Skeleton Monster, was now being performed by the High Rank War God, Feng Linjie.

Tu Xiao’an followed behind, ever-watchful for any escape attempt.

If the man dared to run, Tu Xiao’an wouldn’t mind teaching him a painful lesson.

’Claiming to be out looking for reinforcements? What a load of crap. Who does he think he’s fooling?’

’He’s obviously just a coward who deserted because he was afraid of dying.’

’The War Relics probably scared him witless long ago.’

As Tu Xiao’an ventured deeper into the Third Mountain, it remained eerily silent. Not even the roar of a single monster could be heard. The quiet was unnerving.

"Isn’t this Third Mountain supposed to be a death zone? Why is it so quiet?"

Tu Xiao’an couldn’t help but ask.

Feng Linjie, leading the way ahead, was preoccupied with thoughts of escape. Hearing the question, he replied, "Sir, you may not be aware, but this Third Mountain used to exude a pressure like Celestial Might and was teeming with powerful monsters. Even for High Rank War Gods like us, entering meant facing almost certain death."

"But ever since Brother Qin and Lord Luo triggered the emergence of the War Relics, the Third Mountain has undergone a drastic change. It’s strange, but it seems all the monsters vanished in an instant."

Tu Xiao’an was slightly taken aback. "It was that bizarre?"

"It’s true. Now, this level of the mountain only has the War Relics. Perhaps all the monsters have returned to them," Feng Linjie speculated.

Tu Xiao’an fell into thought. ’Perhaps that’s really the case.’ He then told Feng Linjie to pick up the pace.

’This asshole, a so-called High Rank War God, is even less efficient at leading the way than the Skeleton Monster.’

’He’s obviously stalling for time.’

But Tu Xiao’an wasn’t a fool. He was half-tempted to take out a whip and make the man run.

Feng Linjie, on the other hand, was suffering in silence, cursing a blue streak in his mind.

「Several hours later.」

Ahead lay an open expanse, a barren wasteland for miles in every direction where not a single blade of grass grew.

Yet, bizarrely, a Light Gate was floating in the middle of this empty expanse, emitting a strange fluctuation of Energy.

It looked something like a legendary Teleportation Gate.

"Sir, that is the entrance to the Skeleton Mountain War Relics," Feng Linjie said, pointing at the Light Gate ahead, his expression twitching involuntarily.

Tu Xiao’an glanced calmly at the Light Gate, then back at Feng Linjie. He smiled faintly. "You first."

At his words, Feng Linjie’s expression turned ugly, his face draining of color. Finally, he said, "Sir, I was only supposed to guide you here. Besides, I have an important mission to get reinforcements from down the mountain. I really can’t be delayed."

’Are you kidding me? I barely escaped the death trap that is the War Relics with my life, and now he wants me to go back in?’

’Not a chance!’

’Not in a million years!’

"I already told you, I *am* your reinforcements. Do you not understand?" Tu Xiao’an said impatiently. "Are you going to walk in on your own, or do I have to send you in?"

His icy voice was filled with menace.

’Pathetic. I really don’t know how someone like him managed to cultivate to such a high Realm.’

Feng Linjie wanted to fly into a rage. The bitterness in his heart was overwhelming.

If his opponent’s status weren’t so high and his power so terrifying, he would have been tempted to risk everything in a fight.

But as things stood, he had no choice in the matter.

For a dignified High Rank War God, it was an utter humiliation.

"Since you’re so confident, Sir, then I shall accompany you."

Feng Linjie suddenly adopted an air of righteous valor. His gaze fixed on the Light Gate as he slowly approached it.
