Chapter 744: Chapter 674: Rank Three Creatures as Waiters

There’s no comparing people. If these Martial Cultivators knew the refined young man before them was the newly minted Lord Gong of the Yaoling Mountain Range and a Snake Emperor of his generation, they probably wouldn’t have tried to copy him.

And just like that, Tu Xiao’an had a new little follower, creating a rather conspicuous sight as they walked down the road.

"Master, what use do you have for this Skeleton Beast?" the Bull Demon King asked in confusion.

"It’s fun," Tu Xiao’an said with a smug look. ’What an interesting toy.’

The Bull Demon King: "..."

All of Tu Xiao’an’s current Battle Companions were at the Divine Beast Demon King Level, so ordinary Cultivated Creatures no longer held any interest for him.

However, he had taken a special interest in this Skeleton Beast from the War Relics.

Tu Xiao’an then headed for the large inn at the foot of the mountain. He primarily did so because he felt there was something uncanny about the place.

The Skeleton Beasts that had charged down the mountain earlier were menacing and reeking of killing intent. They seemed to attack anyone on sight, yet they had completely ignored this inn as they passed.

It was as if some big shot they couldn’t afford to provoke was inside the inn.

Although the Skeleton Beasts lacked self-awareness and operated purely on survival instinct, it was precisely this instinct that made them incredibly sensitive.

They would make a detour to avoid any existence that was definitively stronger than them.

It was a classic case of preying on the weak, killing whomever they could.

Arriving in front of Youjia Inn, Tu Xiao’an was quite amazed. It was a three-story building with a large, standard courtyard inside. The scale was impressive, and it clearly had all the expected amenities.

Keep in mind, it had been less than two years, at most, since Skeleton Mountain first appeared.

How could such a large inn have been constructed in under two years?

’Besides, they could have just called it a hotel, but they insisted on the retro "inn." The owner who opened this place must be an interesting person.’

An important one, at that.

"Bull, didn’t you say you were hungry? Let’s go."

Tu Xiao’an strode toward the inn. The Bull Demon King patted his large stomach and roared with laughter, but the Skeleton Beast behind them trembled in fear, not daring to enter.

But, likely worried about its axe, it eventually let out a couple of strange whimpers and followed them inside.

The inn was quite spacious and divided into two main sections: one for lodging guests, and the other a restaurant.

The dining area was filled with several dozen tables, and right now, more than a dozen people were seated there, drinking and chatting. None of them were ordinary folk; they were all master Martial Cultivators.

When they saw Tu Xiao’an and the Bull Demon King walk in, all eyes turned to them. Their expressions grew odd when they noticed the Skeleton Beast trailing behind the pair.

The Skeleton Beasts were infamous in X City, and they were as numerous as flies and mosquitoes.

Several waves of them would charge down the mountain every day.

Consequently, the more powerful figures had grown used to these monsters and no longer paid them much mind.

They could just be left for lower-level Martial Cultivators to kill.

But until now, no one had ever been seen parading a Skeleton Beast around town.

The strangest part was that this Skeleton Beast was actually docile and wasn’t trying to hack people to pieces on sight.

"Welcome. Will you two be dining or staying the night?"

A young waitress approached them. She was dressed in ancient-style clothing, a completely retro look that was a refreshing sight.

Tu Xiao’an’s eyes also lit up when he saw her, because the waitress was a human Rank Three Creature.

’A Rank Three Creature working as a waitress?’

’What kind of establishment is this? Does she have no regard for her own noble status?’

Tu Xiao’an was frankly a bit stunned. He had spent over a year in the Yaoling Mountain Range; had the Human World developed so rapidly in his absence?

’Since when had it become so common for Rank Three Creatures to be relegated to working as waitstaff?’

’Or was this inn’s background just that powerful?’

Then, Tu Xiao’an subtly detected many powerful auras surging within the inn. Whether they were guests or staff, they were all masters.

Moreover, it was a mixture of human and demon auras, meaning the inn housed masters from both the human and Demon Races.

After becoming the Lord Gong of the Demon Race, the first order Tu Xiao’an had issued was that demons could enter the Human World, but they were forbidden from killing ordinary people.

They were also to avoid conflict with human Martial Cultivators as much as possible.

With the opening of the Ancient War Ruins, both humans and demons needed to focus their attention on the matter of the ruins.

The waitress had a very pleasant and welcoming attitude, but when she saw the Skeleton Beast behind Tu Xiao’an, her smile faltered.

"Make that three of us. We’re here to eat," Tu Xiao’an said with a slight smile.

Anyone who could become a Rank Three Creature and still work as a waitress was obviously not a "normal person." She hesitated for a moment but ultimately said nothing, leading Tu Xiao’an and the Bull Demon King to a table in the inner dining area.

As far as the staff was concerned, this place was all-inclusive. Anyone could enter, as long as they could afford it and didn’t cause any trouble.

As Tu Xiao’an walked past the payment counter, he suddenly stopped. Behind the counter sat a beautiful young woman in green robes, her head lowered as she looked at her phone.

She was also dressed in a retro style, creating a beautiful image. It seemed to be a theme of the inn—from the decorations to the staff, everyone was uniformly dressed in ancient attire.

’No wonder they called it an inn.’

"Bull, go sit down and order first."

Tu Xiao’an told the Bull Demon King before walking over to the counter. The Skeleton Beast followed him like a shadow.

It seemed to have resolved to follow this man wherever he went.

Unless he gave its axe back.

A whole person was standing right in front of her, yet the beautiful young woman in green robes didn’t even lift her head. She asked flatly, "Checking out or checking in?"

"Neither. Can I hit on you instead?" Tu Xiao’an said with a smile, his bewitching eyes narrowing slightly.

Above the green-robed woman’s head, the phantom of a roaring Giant Snake appeared.

The green-robed woman still didn’t look up. "I don’t have time for that. And I’m not for sale."

"Just lift your head. Let me have a look."

The woman frowned, her head still lowered, and continued in that same flat tone, "No. I’m afraid I might blind you."

The woman at the counter was, without a doubt, a great beauty. She’d encountered men like Tu Xiao’an hitting on her before; he wasn’t the first.

She usually couldn’t be bothered to give them the time of day.

"You should lift it anyway," Tu Xiao’an said. "When you do, I think you’ll be the one who’s blinded."

"Are you going to be annoying all day? Who do you think you are? You think you can blind *me*?" the green-robed woman snapped, lifting her head. Her almond-shaped eyes went wide as she stared at Tu Xiao’an’s refined face.

All at once, she froze. Her beautiful eyes widened in shock, as if she were petrified.

"See? Weren’t you blinded?" Tu Xiao’an said with a smile.

"Lord Snake Emperor..." the green-robed woman murmured to herself. Snapping back to her senses, she immediately moved to kneel.

But as she tried, she found her knees wouldn’t obey her. She couldn’t kneel down.

"This isn’t the Snake Palace. There’s no need for such formalities," Tu Xiao’an said, his smile vanishing. "Who sent you here?"

"I... I..." The green-robed woman was so frightened she began to stutter.

That’s right. The woman at the counter was a Rank Three Snake Demon in her Transformation form. As Tu Xiao’an passed by the counter, he had detected her strong Snake Race aura.

This was the human territory of X City. The inn was located at the foot of the mountain with the War Relics. The waitress was a human Rank Three Creature, yet the person at the counter was a Rank Three Snake Demon.

Tu Xiao’an couldn’t help but be astonished.

...
