Invincible Martial Artist from Foreseeing Opportunities
Chapter 92 - 80: The Celestial Stele’s Affinity, Lu Doesn’t Eat Beef
The three immediately showed smiles on their faces. As for their boss, Xu Guang, they were genuinely convinced and admired him in their hearts. He did not covet power or wealth, was generous, and possessed formidable strength. He was an almost perfect existence.
"Thank you, boss."
"Thank you, Lord Ming."
Xu Guang waved his hand dismissively.
After a pause, Li Xiao hesitated before speaking. "By the way, boss, a great chaos has broken out outside the city. Many refugees from the opposite bank have slipped over and been reduced to slavery. A few families in the square have sent people to ask if we want to do business in this area?"
Xu Guang fell silent. This was not yet an era of chaos, but people had already become commodities. His arms were too thin to resist the general trend. He nodded. "Let them do as they please." He then added, "Tell them not to go too far. After all... they are human lives."
"Yes," Li Xiao replied in a low voice.
He then began to report on the goods that had arrived recently. Some belonged to the Cheng Family, and some belonged to the Xu Sanduo family. Without much hesitation, Xu Guang allowed them to be put on display.
Once they finished their reports, Xu Guang finally leaned back in his chair to rest, a flash of impatience crossing his eyes. He didn’t have the temperament for managing a faction, but the brothers behind him all had families to support. Since Duan Jue had placed them in his hands, he had to take responsibility.
"Lord Ming, I have some leads on the place you asked me to find."
Xu Guang’s expression stirred. "Where?"
Song Tao took a map from his chest pocket. "Just behind Qingyang Mountain. There was a volcanic crater there before, and inside it is a cave that leads straight to the bottom."
Joy appeared on Xu Guang’s face. There were very few volcanoes around Feiyun City, and those that could be entered were even rarer. His Spear Martial Intent had been stuck at a bottleneck, always just a hair away from a breakthrough. The materials for the Bright God Pill were already prepared, but he hadn’t been able to find a suitable place for refinement. Song Tao had delivered excellent news.
"Good, I understand." Xu Guang took the map.
Song Tao turned and left.
Suddenly, an argument erupted outside the building. A shrill, aggressive woman’s voice provoked annoyance, accompanied by a bout of crying and shouting. Immediately after, rapid footsteps could be heard rushing in from outside. "Boss, something happened."
Xu Guang glanced at him. This man was a Bone Forger Martial Artist from the Bengzi Camp, previously assigned to protect his nephew, Wang Wen. He asked in surprise, "Did something happen to Wen?"
The man nodded. "The young master sneaked out of the house with the maid, Xing Hua. Madam told me to follow them. Someone insulted little Xing Hua right in front of the young master." He looked up to check Xu Guang’s expression before continuing, "The young master drew his bow and shot an arrow at the other child. It resulted in a death."
Hearing this, Xu Guang remained expressionless. "What is the status of that child’s parents?"
"He is the son of Centurion Lu Ren, who serves under Marshal Du Fei of the Immortal Crane Guard."
Xu Guang narrowed his eyes and suddenly let out a cold sneer. He had thought Du Fei could endure for much longer, but to think he had already made a move. Of course, he didn’t believe for a second that it was just children playing around.
Soon, a noisy crowd barged in from outside. Leading them was a middle-aged man with an arrogant and untamed expression, a stark contrast to his rather low-profile name.
"May I ask Marshal Xu, how will today’s matter be settled?" he demanded, walking up to the seated Xu Guang without any sense of decorum and questioning him with a rather condescending attitude.
Song Tao clenched his fists. "Insolent!"
Lu Ren smiled contemptuously, staring straight at Xu Guang.
Xu Guang suddenly smiled. He waved his hand at Wang Wen, who was hugging Xing Hua in the distance.
Knowing he had caused trouble, Wang Wen had been anxious the whole way. Seeing the smile on his uncle’s face, he felt relieved. He trotted over and looked up with an ingratiating smile. "Uncle."
"How does it feel to kill someone?"
Wang Wen’s body trembled. It wasn’t out of fear of Xu Guang, but of his mother, Xu Chun. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have avoided going home after causing trouble and instead come to Kang Square to find Xu Guang.
"Do you know where you went wrong?"
"My mistake was... I shouldn’t have killed him. But the way he insulted Xing Hua was so awful. He made Xing Hua cry..." Wang Wen said, feeling somewhat wronged.
Xu Guang shook his head. "Killing, in many cases, has nothing to do with right or wrong. Uncle doesn’t want you to become a Killing Demon. You should have your own scale in your heart to weigh right and wrong. If someone is wrong, to what extent should you retaliate? You still have a long way to go to learn these things."
Wang Wen looked at Xu Guang with admiration. Although he was young, he had watched with his own eyes as his uncle climbed step by step to where he was today.
"Marshal Xu!" Lu Ren shouted loudly, as if he had been deeply humiliated.
Xu Guang’s expression darkened, and he stood up. As the bloodline in his body continuously multiplied and his Essence Blood grew abundant, his height had long since changed. Standing at nearly 1.9 meters tall, he looked down condescendingly at Lu Ren.
"Centurion Lu, you are also part of the Feiyun Three Armies. Could it be that this is how you speak to Du Fei as well?"
Lu Ren’s temples throbbed as he suppressed the anger in his heart. "I wouldn’t dare. It’s just that Young Master Wang killed my son. How will this matter be resolved?"
Xu Guang waved his hand. "I remember Big Bull hunted quite a few Fire Bull Beasts a few days ago. Bring a plate over. I want to have a good talk with Centurion Lu."
"There’s no need! Lu does not eat beef!" Lu Ren glared coldly at Xu Guang.
Xu Guang smiled, seemingly unbothered by this. He took out two cups of wine from the side. "Wen is ignorant. Xu will punish himself with a cup first. Please suit yourself, Centurion Lu."
Lu Ren, however, sneered and actually slapped the wine cup off the tray.
Xu Guang continued to smile. He downed the wine in his cup in one gulp, then suddenly erupted. His figure flashed forward as he grabbed Lu Ren by the collar. The wine goblet in his hand became a dagger, plunging into Lu Ren’s chest again and again.
"You shameless piece of trash! You don’t eat beef!?"
