Invincible Martial Artist from Foreseeing Opportunities
Chapter 81 - 76: Cheng Shan’s Death, The Mysterious Woman’s Concealment
She was not an easy person to get along with, so they instinctively kept their distance. Su Yuchan seemed completely oblivious to this, remaining seated in the carriage from beginning to end.
Over the course of three days, they encountered fierce resistance from the experts of the Han and Liu Families. Countless times, attackers would launch suicidal ambushes against Xu Guang, only to be slain beneath his spear. Among these attempts, there were even two ambushes by Experts in Refining Viscera Martial Arts.
The disciples of the three major factions were all astounded by Xu Guang’s prowess. How could this possibly be the strength of someone from the younger generation? Since when did Feiyun City produce such a monster!
Three days later.
In the Inner City.
After entering the City Guard’s Mansion, Xu Guang, Li Xiao, and the disciples went their separate ways.
Up in Cang Mang Tower, a table of diners witnessed this scene. One of them watched with an intrigued expression. "It seems this Marshal Xu is far from simple. He managed to tame a troublemaker like Li Xiao with such ease."
"Heh, but if he wants to establish a firm foothold in the Feiyun Guard, merely subduing Li Xiao won’t be enough."
"You can’t exactly say that. Although Xu Guang comes from a humble background, he fought his way up, battle by battle, to become a Marshal. He has perfectly executed every mission assigned by the Lord City Guardian. He’s certainly a man of note."
"What Brother Du says is quite true. However, I imagine the other Marshals in the Feiyun Guard wouldn’t be too thrilled about the addition of another Marshal from the Abnormal People."
Before returning home, Xu Guang washed off the stench of blood outside and changed into a brand-new white robe before walking through the front gates. Hai seemed to have been waiting for him all along. Upon seeing him, the dog immediately turned and sprinted into the courtyard.
Mrs. Xu, Ji Xiaolu, Xu Chun, and Wang Wen soon came out. They had been waiting for him too. Song Tao was also present. With nowhere else to go, he had already acknowledged Xu Guang as his master. Now that the Han Family was destroyed, he no longer needed to hide.
Xu Guang looked at his family with a smile, but then he suddenly fell heavily to his knees at the doorway.
"Mother! I have been unfilial. Father died with grievances, and it took me seven whole years to finally avenge him!"
Mrs. Xu’s eyes welled up with tears. Looking at Han Qing’s severed head clamped in Hai’s jaws, she suddenly turned and walked into the backyard. Xu Guang remained kneeling on the ground, tears streaming from his eyes. He had waited for this day for far too long.
In the backyard.
Xu Guang stood in the courtyard, reaching out to stroke Hai’s head as he spoke to Song Tao, who had just walked in behind him. "Song Tao, the Han Family has been annihilated. I killed Han Po with my own two hands, so your vengeance can be considered fulfilled. We share the same sorrowful fate. I will give you a Refining Viscera Cultivation Technique. If you wish to leave, you are free to go."
Song Tao was taken aback for a moment, then he dropped heavily to one knee. "I am willing to follow Lord Ming!"
Xu Guang turned around and looked at the plump man before him, revealing a faint smile. "Since you don’t want to leave, then stay. We are brothers now; in life and death, we will stand together."
"I obey Lord Ming’s command!"
East of the Wei River.
Zhang Qing knelt on a lotus seat atop a high platform. His mismatched eyes were filled with a sense of wonder, shimmering with a mystical light as if drawing in the Thunderbolts of heaven and earth.
"Great Mage, why did we suddenly stop? With just a single command from you, Feiyun City would be ours for the taking!" a Yang Jun, who had been standing respectfully by his side, asked softly. He represented all the upper echelon of the Yellow Heaven Sect, voicing the doubts they all shared.
For a moment, everyone raised their heads to look at Zhang Qing on the lotus seat. A smile surfaced on Zhang Qing’s ordinary and approachable face.
"It seems I underestimated the City Guardian of Feiyun City. What a brilliant scheme." He gazed in a certain direction, as if his vision could pierce through the grand hall to see the towering object that had appeared overnight above the Wei River... the pitch-black Celestial Stele!
The chaos within the city quickly subsided. At the very least, the surviving remnants of the Han and Liu Families no longer dared to act recklessly. The Three Guards were deployed in full force, patrolling almost day and night. Everything seemed to have returned to normal. As for the incident outside the city, it seemed to have been selectively ignored by everyone.
One day, Xu Guang ventured out of the city to take a look. Under the gaze of his third eye, he couldn’t spot a single living person. It was as if, overnight, the area outside the city had been completely reduced to a no man’s land.
However, Duan Jue seemed to have anticipated all of this. Many people from outside the city had relocated to the south of the city. There was a barren mountain there, which was now dotted with numerous thatched cottages. Xu Guang was certain that the Celestial Stele was indeed connected to Duan Jue.
He wondered what kind of method this was.
The Yellow Heaven Sect’s reaction was also very strange. Logically speaking, with Feiyun City currently undergoing such massive upheaval, it was the perfect time to attack. Why hadn’t Zhang Qing made a move? In fact, ever since the surprise attack that day, the Yellow Heaven Sect had yet to send a single person into the city.
However, his previous assessments gave him a glimmer of hope for Feiyun City. Furthermore, after breaking through to Refining Viscera, his strength had once again entered a period of rapid growth. He needed a stable environment for Cultivation. Therefore, he was quite happy to see the current situation unfold the way it did.
