Chapter 774: Chapter 767: Overweight Sea

"Just use your authority to look up this person’s detailed data for yourself."

The Evil Dragon Life said.

The Sacred Lotus member immediately used his True Talisman’s authority to search for data related to Zhou Yuanjue.

’Zhou Yuanjue, from the Low-level Civilization, Earth. Racial potential rated as lower-middle?!’

’He won the championship in the Gena Continent’s competition for a spot, but was rejected due to his racial potential.’

’A Black Lotus Steward initiated a special recruitment assessment for him, and he ultimately entered the organization through a special recruitment slot?’

A look of deep surprise filled the Sacred Lotus member’s eyes after he finished reading the data on Zhou Yuanjue.

’This guy... how long has he even been in the True Realm? His experience has been quite full of twists and turns.’

Thanks to the Black Lotus Steward’s discretion, he wouldn’t have even known there was someone like this among the current batch of candidates for the Sacred Lotus Civilization if the Evil Dragon Life hadn’t pointed it out.

"Interesting. His racial potential was rated as lower-middle, yet he managed to win the favor of a Black Lotus Steward, who even used a precious special recruitment slot for him. And judging from his performance in the Chaotic Paradise, it seems the Black Lotus Steward’s judgment was spot on."

"He not only broke his own racial limits through some unknown method, but also defeated a Descendant of the Elemental Race in a fight between equals. He’s definitely worth keeping an eye on."

A smile appeared on the Sacred Lotus member’s face.

"Add an observation window and lock the view on this Zhou Yuanjue. I’m curious to see how far he can get in this Mimicry True Realm, facing so many powerful opponents and difficult challenges."

The Sacred Lotus member said to the busy staff in front of him.

Soon, another window appeared on the light screen before him, perfectly displaying the scene of Zhou Yuanjue being enveloped by the light of teleportation.

"The first trial of the Mimicry True Realm is the ’Overweight Sea.’ Should we give these little guys some special treatment?"

The Evil Dragon Life asked.

"Increase the difficulty for all subjects of interest to a certain degree. Let’s see what they’re made of."

The Sacred Lotus member said with a smile.

...

...

「Chaotic Paradise, Mimicry True Realm.」

HUMMM!!

Several beams of teleportation light descended at the same time.

As the light gradually faded, Zhou Yuanjue and the others’ vision began to clear, allowing them to make out the scene beyond the glare.

In the strange, pale green sky, pink clouds drifted about. Peculiar, bird-like creatures made of black shadow shuttled through the pink cloud layer, possessing a strange kind of beauty.

At this moment, Zhou Yuanjue, his companions, and the other candidates found themselves on the surface of a vast, ocean-like expanse of blue-black water. The water stretched to the horizon in all directions, boundless and empty, save for a single massive island visible in the distance.

"You have entered the Mimicry True Realm. The protection mechanism will deactivate in thirty seconds. Please prepare. Commencing countdown..."

"Thirty..."

"Twenty-nine..."

"..."

Prompts continuously came from Zhou Yuanjue’s True Talisman.

’So this is the Mimicry True Realm?’

Zhou Yuanjue surveyed his surroundings. He found it hard to believe that such a vast ocean could be constructed in a place as dry and Desolate as the Dominic Wilderness, seemingly defying all logic. It was a feat worthy of a god.

Even though it was all a simulated environment composed of Energy, it felt completely real to both his senses and his intuition.

"Is the target that island?"

Just then, Dorobaku, who was beside him, spoke up.

"That has to be it. According to the usual format for the Mimicry True Realm, they’ll set up multiple obstacles for us on the way to the final reward. Since they dropped all of us onto the surface of this sea, it’s definitely not going to be simple."

"This sea is likely our first trial. A large number of candidates will be weeded out here, and only the truly strong will be worthy of setting foot on that island. Everyone, be on your guard once the protection ends."

Anjina said to the group, her voice grave.

"It could be creatures in the sky, creatures in the water, or some other kind of danger."

Irene said.

Everyone nodded. Soon, the countdown from the True Talisman reached its end.

HUM.

A faint tremor passed through them as the pale Gold light shield surrounding them vanished completely. They were now fully exposed to the Mimicry True Realm.

The moment their feet touched the blue-black water, everyone’s expression changed at once.

An immense gravitational pull emanated from beneath the water, threatening to drag them all under in an instant.

BLUB BLUB!!

Caught off guard by the immense gravitational pull, every single one of them was instantly submerged. The situation beneath the surface was just as grim.

At their level, being in water versus on land made little difference; they didn’t need to breathe to survive.

But the water in this sea was different. It completely severed their connection to the external Energy, preventing them from recovering at all while submerged. Furthermore, the water possessed a powerful energy-devouring property; it could forcibly draw out and consume the Energy within the candidates’ bodies.

If their Energy was exhausted with no way to replenish it, even the candidates could "drown" in these waters.

’However, if it’s just a bit of gravitational pull, they’re seriously underestimating us!’

Anjina’s expression darkened. Her Life Heart Core pulsed, and a terrifying amount of Energy erupted from her body.

BLUB BLUB!!

The immense gravitational pull was counteracted by the thrust from her released Energy, and her body shot rapidly toward the surface.

However, in the next moment, Anjina’s expression changed. "Huh?" She felt the surrounding gravity suddenly vanish completely. Propelled by her massive burst of Energy, her body shot upward and broke through the surface of the water.

’What’s happening? The gravity’s gone?’

Just as her head broke the surface, she prepared to retract her Power to keep from shooting into the air. But at that very moment...

HUMM!!

After vanishing for an instant, the immense gravity within the water reappeared, even stronger than before.

BLUB BLUB BLUB!!

Caught completely off guard, Anjina, who had only just poked her head above the water, was instantly dragged back under, swallowing a large mouthful of water in the process.

’The gravity in this sea changes drastically in the blink of an eye?!’

Anjina understood immediately. Just as she prepared to exert her Power, the gravity would suddenly weaken, causing her to float up rapidly. And just as she prepared to retract her Power, the gravity would suddenly intensify, dragging her back to the bottom.

This caused her body to bob up and down beneath the surface, consuming massive amounts of Energy. In an environment like this, not even a member of the Elemental Race could replenish their Energy quickly.

The gravitational changes in this sea area had no discernible pattern at all.

WHOOSH! WHOOSH!

And as she struggled to adapt, Anjina felt the underwater currents shift violently.

’If it’s not the other candidates, then there must be other creatures in this water!’

’If I don’t get out of here quickly and master these gravity shifts, I won’t be able to control my body. If I get attacked, it’ll be a huge problem.’

’Forget it! I’ll just power through in one go. Get into the air, away from the sea.’

Gritting her teeth, Anjina made a decision. The Energy in her body exploded, generating an immense thrust. Completely ignoring the fluctuations of the Overweight Sea, her figure shot directly out of the water and into the air.

Anjina wasn’t the only one; several other figures also burst into the sky, attempting to get a moment’s respite.

However, things weren’t that simple. The moment Anjina and the others leaped into the air, countless black, bird-like shadows shot out from the pink clouds. As if spotting their prey, they dove fiercely toward the airborne candidates.

The intense Energy they radiated indicated they were all beings at or above the First layer Transformation Boundary.

"Damn it!"

Anjina spat out a curse. Unleashing a terrifying burst of Power, she formed a massive fireball in the air that violently repelled the attacking black shadows. But in the next instant, the sharply increasing gravity of the Overweight Sea yanked her back down. She plunged back into the sea, swallowing yet another mouthful of water.

Trapped, with no way up and no way down.

It seemed the only way to pass this trial was to master a way to counteract the sea’s shifting gravity. There was no other escape.
