Investing in the Three Villainesses Gives Me Infinite Returns
Chapter 121: A Gift From Olide
Everyone’s attention shifted toward the slender woman as she gracefully walked toward the center of the hall, a long wooden box held carefully in both hands.
She stopped beside Olide, and the merchant gestured toward the box before musing, "This is a gift I brought for you, Lord Elias."
Elias glanced at the box before gesturing toward it, and Benjamin immediately understood what his lord wanted. The old butler stepped forward, accepted the box from the slender woman, and carried it back toward Elias before placing it carefully on the ground.
He then opened the lid.
Inside rested an ornate sword with a thin silver blade, a golden guard decorated with embedded blue and red gemstones, and a polished golden pommel.
Elias’s eyebrows rose slightly as he examined it.
It was a ceremony rapier.
In Crimsonland as in the western regions of the Dracarian Kingdom, many festivals were held in which animals were sacrificed to the Old Gods or various folk deities. During such ceremonies, rapiers were used more frequently than ordinary swords because their narrow blades allowed a single precise stab to end an animal’s life without causing unnecessary suffering.
Benjamin carefully lifted the rapier from its wooden box before turning toward Elias and offering it to him.
Elias accepted the weapon and examined the blade, rotating it slightly so that the light reflected off its polished surface. The craftsmanship was excellent, and there was something undeniably beautiful about it.
A faint smile appeared on Elias’s face as he looked toward Olide.
"It is a good sword. I am thankful for this pleasant gift, Lord Olide," he said.
Olide smiled warmly and replied, "It is my pleasure."
He then rose from his chair and turned toward the slender woman.
"Bring the carriages and nine hundred gold coins," he instructed.
The woman nodded and immediately began walking toward the exit.
Elias blinked.
’Nine hundred...?’ he wondered, his expression remaining calm while confusion spread through his mind. ’Was it not three hundred?’
The realization struck him a moment later.
’Wait... did he think I was asking for five hundred gold coins for each one of them?’
Elias had expected to receive five hundred gold coins for all three corpses, but apparently, Olide had misunderstood his initial offer and had decided to grace him with his own misunderstanding.
"Wait," Elias called out loudly.
The slender woman immediately halted and turned around, while Olide looked back at Elias with a faint frown.
"What is wrong, Lord Elias?" the merchant asked.
Elias rose from his chair and looked toward Benjamin, who appeared to have entered a state of unconsciousness after hearing the amount of gold they were about to receive.
"Benjamin," Elias called.
The old butler instantly snapped out of his reverie and looked toward his master.
"Yes, my lord?" he replied.
Elias folded his hands behind his back and spoke calmly.
"Go with Lord Olide and purchase the resources we will require for the next three months."
Benjamin frowned at the instruction, wondering how they were supposed to store such a large quantity of supplies, but he decided not to question his master in front of the merchant and his companions.
"As you wish, my lord," he answered.
Elias then looked toward Olide.
"Allow my butler to purchase resources worth nine hundred gold coins. Afterward, you can take these corpses."
Olide remained silent for several seconds as he considered the proposal before shaking his head.
"That is not possible," he said.
Elias nodded in understanding.
"Then take one of them for now."
Olide’s expression became troubled as he glanced toward the three Dark Thorn corpses, and after a moment, he let out a deep sigh.
"Alright, we will do as you wish, Lord Elias," he agreed.
He clearly did not want to get on the bad side of the person who had provided these corpses to Elias, even if he still had no idea who that person was.
Olide then looked toward the pouch of Riftstone Elias had prepared earlier.
"I believe you will give me the pouch of Riftstone afterward as well?" he asked.
Elias nodded.
"You are a smart man, Lord Olide."
Olide smiled faintly.
"My father would disagree."
The merchant then turned toward the slender woman and the heavily armed knight, and the three prepared to leave the building.
"Go," Elias instructed, and Benjamin immediately followed behind them.
Once everyone had left, Elias stored the ornate ceremony rapier inside his Inventory, followed by the two chairs and finally the long wooden box.
He looked around the hall before muttering, "This solves the immediate problem of the resources... however, I still need more gold."
Elias rubbed his face as he considered the situation.
He still had a few more monster corpses and a considerable amount of Riftstone, but he did not want to sell everything he possessed merely for temporary wealth. There was no telling when he might need those resources later, and wasting his remaining reserves would only create another problem.
He shook his head and muttered, "Stop it, Elias. Look at the good things."
The corners of his lips slowly rose into a smile as he turned toward the door and walked out of the building.
Olide had arrived very early in the morning, and by now, the time had reached the hour when Elias usually woke up, which meant a certain beautiful woman would probably be looking for him.
His smile widened, becoming more genuine, and his steps quickened.
He walked through the garden, glancing at the flowers with a peaceful expression, then he entered the main mansion from the rear entrance and walked into the hall.
He placed the chairs back in their place and took the stairs to his room.
He stopped at the doors and took a deep breath before pushing them open.
As the door opened, a beautiful woman with a chocolate complexion wearing a silky white nightgown was revealed.
Her sleepy golden eyes stared at the window with a small frown on her face.
Perhaps wondering where her stupid husband was.
