Investing in the Reborn Empress, Rewarded With 10x Returns
Chapter 134: Supreme Sovereign
"Liana’s dreams are truly extraordinary..."
"Most Dreamwalkers would not even be able to force entry..."
Pontifex Valerius’s astral projection quickly shrank as she established a connection with the glowing pink bubble.
Based on her millennia of experience, most mortals’ dreams were soft and porous during sleep, a reflection of a relaxed state.
But Liana’s dream bubble was different. It felt like an ancient glacier.
However, this was no challenge for the experienced Cult Founder. Instead of forcing entry, she synchronized her Aether signature, seamlessly merging into the dream.
The watery barrier dissolved like ripples, and the scene before her sharpened.
"Where is this?"
Frost filled the sky, entirely obscuring the sun. The Pontifex found herself standing in an endless expanse of mountains, the peaks wreathed in mist purer than clouds.
The vegetation was crystalline, as if carved from jade.
She seemed to have just stepped out of a cold, austere temple.
"Even the winters in the northern provinces are not this brutal..." the Pontifex shivered, feeling a chill that bypassed her form entirely.
"Our Lunar Sanctum is like this all year round. There is no winter, only eternal frost."
A priestess in a white dress eyed the Pontifex strangely.
"Lunar Sanctum?"
The Pontifex had never heard of such a faction.
Had it been established during her six-thousand-year slumber?
But Liana was a student of the Imperial Academy... why would she dream of a sect like this?
"Do you know someone named Liana?" the Pontifex asked nonchalantly.
"Acolyte! Have you lost your mind to cultivation deviation?!" The priestess’s expression twisted in horror.
She hastily lunged forward and covered the Pontifex’s mouth. "How dare you address the Sovereign by her name so freely!"
"Sovereign?"
"Indeed! Our Sovereign is the Aurora Empress, ruler of the Nine Heavens and master of the Lunar Dao! Are you a spy from a rival faction? How could you not know this?"
The Pontifex’s eyes widened as she stood rooted in place.
How could Liana have such an incredibly arrogant dream?
Well, given the girl’s monstrous talent, ascending to rule the Nine Heavens was not exactly a pipe dream.
But still...
"Hmm, you probably are not a spy. A spy would not be this clueless," the priestess scrutinized her. "Are you a newly inducted acolyte?"
"Yes, yes!" The Pontifex quickly nodded. "Senior Sister, could you tell me more about our Sovereign? What kind of person is she?"
"The Sovereign..." the priestess answered earnestly, "ranks first among the Ten Thousand Beauties. She is breathtaking."
"That much is common knowledge. No need to mention it..."
The priestess glanced around before lowering her voice. "Well... she is extremely cold-natured. Not only has she severed all emotions and mortal desires, but she also demands that all priestesses of the Sanctum remain pure in heart. So, if you are thinking about romance..."
"Strictly forbidden?" the Pontifex frowned.
"It must definitely not be discovered by the Sovereign."
The Pontifex understood. Emotions and desires were intrinsic to humanity.
So, in truth, many disciples in the Lunar Sanctum were secretly engaging in illicit affairs...
Fortunately, the Sovereign spent her days in total solitude, detached from worldly affairs to pursue the pinnacle of the Great Dao.
In summary: Peerless in strength, entirely devoid of emotion.
*The influence of the Primeval Aurora has already reached this extent?* the Pontifex murmured to herself.
Legend stated that the Primeval Aurora sought to govern the world with total impartiality.
To achieve this, she created the Emotion-Severing Dao.
If Liana truly became like this in the future, the moment she ascended would mark the exact moment her ego died and the Primeval returned.
The fact that she was already dreaming of this meant the divine corruption was severe!
Just then, the priestess spoke again.
"Junior Sister, since I have told you so much, could you do me a favor?"
"What favor?"
"Little Junior Brother accidentally wandered into the Sovereign’s private bedchambers and was caught by the elders. He has been punished with solitary meditation at the Glacial Pinnacle. It is freezing up there. Could you deliver this food box to him?"
"Little Junior Brother? Who is that...?" The Pontifex took the box, puzzled.
"Theo, of course. He is the only male acolyte in our Sanctum. Gentle as jade, kind and generous—most of the priestesses want to sneak around with him. Pity I do not fancy men."
For the third time, the Pontifex’s brain short-circuited...
Liana was the Supreme Sovereign of the world. But that brat Theo was her junior disciple?
Didn’t that make them master and subordinate? What kind of absurd, role-reversal plot was this?!
If only the Pontifex had read *The Tyrannical Empress Falls for Me*, she might have had some frame of reference.
Carrying the food box, the Pontifex hurried toward the Glacial Pinnacle. But before she could get close, she sensed something amiss. Someone had arrived before her.
She immediately diminished her astral presence, observing from the shadows.
Through the frosted jade branches, she spotted two figures standing at the cliff’s edge.
"You came..."
The dream version of Theo still looked exactly like his real-world self.
"You knew I would come?"
Liana... no, now she should be called the Supreme Sovereign.
The dream version of Liana had fully matured. Her figure was breathtaking, her curves elegant, and her ethereal, divine aura remained unchanged.
Only now, her icy demeanor was laced with an alluring, mature contrast that was downright lethal.
What was she doing here? Was she not the Emotion-Severing Sovereign?
Liana frowned slightly, as if reprimanding him. "I told you not to sneak into my bedchambers. Now that the elders have caught you, if I do not punish you, how can I justify it to the Sanctum?"
The Pontifex nodded in understanding. *Ah, so she favors this disciple and came to secretly admonish him? A bit odd, but not entirely unreasonable.*
But Theo’s next words petrified her on the spot.
"But Sovereign," Theo smiled, "I missed you."
"...?" The Pontifex recoiled.
What kind of way was that to speak to the ruler of the Nine Heavens?!
If Liana was truly under the influence of the Emotion-Severing Dao, this boy was courting death!
However... Liana lowered her gaze, her frost-pale cheeks suddenly tinged with a deep blush.
"This Sovereign... missed you too."
The Pontifex’s scalp prickled fiercely.
What kind of way was that for the ruler of the Nine Heavens to speak to her disciple?!
Is this what they call being influenced by the Emotion-Severing Dao?!
"Your hair is loose. Let me tie it for you."
"Mmm..."
And so, the Supreme Sovereign of the Nine Heavens proceeded to sit directly on her darling junior brother’s lap in broad daylight.
"Done?" Liana whispered.
"You... stop squirming," Theo muttered, his arms wrapped around her waist. "If you keep grinding against me like that, soon my mouth will not be the hardest thing about me..."
The Pontifex felt as if she had been struck by an Exarch-level Aether-Storm.
What in the abyss were these two talking about?!
Is this the kind of dialogue that should be happening between a Sovereign and her disciple?!
What happened to severing emotions and forbidding romance?!
No wonder the priestesses were all sneaking around having illicit affairs! This entire culture of supreme degeneracy stemmed from the rotten roots at the very top!
In Theo’s room at Solstice Manor.
"Hmm? Why is it itching again..." Theo lay on his bed. Though his consciousness was fully submerged in the *Abyssal Forge*, his physical body instinctively reached up to scratch his neck.
Meanwhile, in the dream realm.
*Do you all even hear what you are saying?!* The Pontifex screamed.
