[After Dinner — 10:30 PM.]

Asher stood silently before the door of Sara’s private quarters, raising his hand to place a gentle knock on the polished wood. Before even a second could go to waste, the door swung wide open—though instead of Sara, his gaze met Juliana standing on the threshold.

"Husband?" Juliana blinked, clearly caught off guard.

"Oh, I came to see Sara." Asher said, a small, subtle smile touching his lips.

Juliana gave a warm nod, pulling the door fully open to invite him inside. "I just came by to drop off extra potions for her hearing." she explained as Asher stepped across the threshold.

His eyes immediately drifted toward Sara, who was sitting gracefully on the edge of the large bed in a soft, silk nightdress, quietly immersed in her book once again.

"Has she taken her evening dose already?" Asher asked, turning his head back to Juliana.

"Yeah, she just swallowed it. But she’ll have to take another round tomorrow morning alongside her medicine, although it doesn’t have much effect, it’s better than nothing." Juliana noted, her brow furrowing slightly:

"We are running dangerously low on those specific supplies, as well as a few rare alchemical ingredients required to brew the potions."

"I gave you an unlimited black card earlier." Asher said, a gentle smile appearing at her stunned, cute expression. "Withdraw whatever amount of money you need."

"Oh... Okay," Juliana murmured, her face brightening, before she suddenly blinked and looked at him suspiciously with a raised eyebrow. "Wait... Why are you here in her room so late?"

"Huh? Can’t I visit my own wife?" Asher countered smoothly, turning his full gaze back to her.

"Stop throwing back questions at me! You know what I mean..." Juliana pouted slightly, crossing her arms over her chest. "It’s already so late at night. Don’t tell me you’re actually thinking to...?"

Before she could finish her wild train of thought, Asher raised his hand and lightly flicked a finger against her forehead. In the past, when he was only slightly taller than her, performing such a playful gesture would have felt awkward and uncoordinated. But now—possessing a imposing, perfectly built frame and standing significantly taller—the motion was effortlessly natural.

"Hey!" Juliana pouted, instantly raising a hand to rub her warm forehead.

"I am here tonight to extract the lethal poison from her body." He revealed, his tone turning serious.

"Really?!" Juliana’s eyes widened in sheer, breathless disbelief.

Beside them, the soft rustle of pages abruptly ceased as Sara closed her book. The sharp thud echoed through the silent room, immediately drawing both of their attention toward the bed.

"Sara is asking... How?" Juliana quickly translated, turning her wide eyes back to Asher.

"Well... You remember what I revealed to you guys earlier," Asher began.

"You mean... The System?" Juliana murmured, lightly holding her jaw in deep thought.

Asher gave a firm nod. "Yes. I completed a quest while I was out conducting business today, and it granted me a brand-new body type... the Poison Physique."

"What?!" Juliana gasped.

Even Sara’s usually calm, stoic eyes expanded in genuine surprise and shock.

"The Poison Physique! That inherently renders your entire biological system completely immune to all known toxins! If I’m calculating correctly, even high-tier Awakened belonging to the Poison class wouldn’t be able to scratch a single hair on your head... In fact, their toxic would technically just act as a personal power bank for you!" Juliana added rapidly, her mind spinning with the tactical implications.

’Power bank? I definitely didn’t think about it in those bizarre terms... and why on earth would I go around using toxic Awakened as living batteries?’ Asher thought to himself, raising one amused eyebrow at her strange phrasing.

"Regardless of how it functions defensively." Asher clarified, "The main point is that I can now actively absorb and extract poison from any living target."

Juliana paused, a sudden wave of heavy worry washing over her features as she turned her gaze toward Sara. "Hmm... Is this going to be your absolute first time attempting to use this ability?"

"Well... yes," Asher admitted, letting out a soft, slightly nervous chuckle.

"Then I strongly think we should test it on something else first! Maybe a captured monster or an animal..." Juliana urged, her voice laced with growing anxiety:

"Extracting deeply rooted toxins from a person’s vital pathways is exceptionally tricky! If you lose control over the draw for even a single second, the residual poison could violently corrode her healthy organs, and the victim might..."

She swallowed hard, her throat going dry: "...die..."

Juliana paused mid-sentence, rapidly shaking her head as she turned to face Sara: "No! I won’t allow it, it’s still way too risky!"

A silence fell over the bed before Juliana’s eyes flared again: "I trust our husband with my life too! But this is completely different!"

"You...!!"

"....?!"

Asher stood completely speechless, watching in quiet awe as Juliana practically began arguing with the mute Sara; judging by Juliana’s desperate retorts, he could easily piece together what Sara was communicating back.

Yet, deep down, Asher felt a pang of self-reproach. He had been somewhat reckless—he hadn’t properly calibrated or tested this newly acquired physique in a controlled setting yet. What if something went catastrophically wrong during the extraction?

In the beginning, he had viewed caring for his wives merely as an absolute duty thrust upon him by his circumstances; there hadn’t been any profound emotional bond or deep trust forged between them.

But now...

He knew with absolute certainty that he would never be able to forgive himself if his own ignorance accidentally brought harm to Sara. He couldn’t fully articulate the exact depth of what he felt for her just yet, but the mere thought of losing her made a sharp, agonizing pain clench deep inside his chest.

Asher tightly clenched his fists at his sides. No matter what obstacles lay ahead, he was going to make this extraction a flawless success.

"Fine! You win, Sara!"

Juliana let out a long, defeated sigh, though her expressive face was still entirely consumed by raw distress.

"She refuses to listen to my warnings..." Juliana said softly, her voice wavering as tears began to pool at the corners of her eyes. "She said she doesn’t care about the risk—even if the process ends up killing her, she won’t blame anyone. Not you, and not herself."

The tears finally spilled over, rolling freely down Juliana’s flushed cheeks as she turned her tearful gaze up to Asher. "Please, Husband! No matter what happens, nothing bad can happen to Sara... She and Kelly are so incredibly precious to me. Please..."

Her frantic pleading was cut short as Asher stepped forward, pulling her into a warm, firm, protective embrace.

"What are you saying?" Asher murmured gently against her hair. "All three of you are priceless to me. I promise you on my life that I will never do anything that would ever bring harm to any of you... That is an absolute promise. You trust me, don’t you?"

"SNIFF... Yes, I trust you completely," Juliana choked out, burying her face into his chest.

"That’s all I need to hear. Nothing bad is going to happen to Sara tonight... And even if the underworld itself tries to claim her, I will personally march straight down into the abyss to tear her back."

{DING!}

{A critical system reminder for Master: Should any single wife out of the three perish, the System will permanently shut down and terminate all operations. However, all rewards previously acquired will remain in your possession.}

"...?!"

Asher’s eyes nearly popped out of his head as he stared at the glowing text floating in midair. Was this absolute piece of trash system seriously bringing up a apocalyptic ultimatum right in the middle of a poignant, emotional moment?!

’Fuck you, system.’
