Chapter 286: 286 | Rewards!!!

[Investment Evaluation Complete]

[15 Primary Reward Entries Available]

[Exceptional reward consolidation has occurred.]

Dexter raised an eyebrow. "Consolidation?"

The first panel opened.

[PRIMARY REWARD ONE]

[Recognized Investment]

? Restoring joy, hope, and the desire to live through a shared day of meaningful experiences.

[Reward]

? Ninefold Heaven-Returning Resurrection Pill

? Tier: 9

? Quantity: 1

[Effect]

? Resurrects one deceased individual whose cultivation at death was at the Legend Realm or below.

? Recreates the recipient’s flesh and restores their cultivation to its level before death.

? Restoration is directed toward the designated individual and does not create a duplicate.

[SYSTEM NOTE]

? This exceptional reward occupies five standard reward slots.

? The consolidated reward has already been accounted for. The remaining displayed reward entries are unaffected.

Dexter stared. Then he leaned closer to the golden panel, as though being physically nearer would make the words easier to believe.

Tier 9 pill?

His expression gradually turned to shock and disbelief. "What?"

The word came out as a whisper. He read the description again ans again.

A pill that could resurrect someone. Not heal them before their final breath nor preserve a damaged body long enough for a healer to arrive. It could resurrect them, recreate their flesh and even restore their cultivation. Even if that person had reached the Legend Realm.

Dexter slowly sat upright. The little bedroom suddenly felt much too ordinary for the thing waiting inside his system storage.

His bed was rumpled and one pillow still held the impression of Selene’s head. And somewhere within his reach was a pill that could turn the entire world upside down.

The Ashford family? If news of this pill escaped, the Ashford family would be lucky if the experts rushing toward Stargate City bothered to step around their estates.

Anyone trying to claim ownership would be crushed. Nations would move, ancient powers that had remained hidden for generations would emerge. Someone, somewhere, had lost a master, a parent, an ancestor, a ruler. Someone would be willing to destroy cities for a second chance.

Dexter’s mouth went dry. He had spent years believing certain losses were permanent. For one brief moment, a different thought passed through his mind.

His mother.

He knew almost nothing about her beyond what others had allowed him to hear.

His fingers curled against the duvet, and then he forced himself to breathe. Not now. He didn’t know enough, about the pill, about her death, about what would happen if he acted carelessly.

He needed something of hers if he wanted to resurrect her but he has bithjbv that was hers. The only thing he n ew about her was her tombstone.

His gaze moved toward the option to withdraw the reward. "No."

He dismissed it immediately. The pill would remain inside the system storage. Even the slightest aura can cause problems for him.

The system continued.

[PRIMARY REWARD TWO]

[Recognized Investment]

? Devoting personal time to the well-being and happiness of all three wives.

[Reward]

? Natural Lifespan Extension: 50 Years

? Compressed Cultivation: 10 Years

[Distribution]

? Lifespan extension may be integrated independently.

? Compressed cultivation may be retained until the host selects a suitable integration time.

Dexter’s eyes widened again as he looked toward the first reward’s minimized panel, then back at the second. "Did you finally decide I’ve suffered enough?"

There was no response.

Dexter accepted the lifespan extension, and a gentle warmth settled deep inside him. It was different from mana, there was no violent pressure, no sudden swelling of his meridians.

The lingering tiredness behind his eyes simply eased, and his breathing became clearer. He felt as though something worn inside him had quietly been renewed.

The ten years of cultivation remained stored. He was not going to risk an uncontrolled breakthrough inside a small bungalow. That could wait until he had prepared properly.

[PRIMARY REWARD THREE]

[Recognized Investment]

? Risking your life to recover Lyra from the faction’s retrieval party.

[Reward]

? Blackstone Guardian Puppet

Tier 4

[Combat Realm]

? Transcendent Realm — Initial Stage

[Core Functions]

? Personal defense

? Property protection

? Target interception

? Aura concealment

[Binding]

? Recognizes the host as its sole command authority.

? Can identify designated protected individuals.

? Does not require food, sleep, or ordinary medical treatment.

[LIMITATION]

? Core energy is finite and must be replenished with Nexus monster core of Transcedent level for sustained combat.

? Damage exceeding its self-repair capacity requires external restoration.

Dexter’s eyes narrowed with interest.

A figure appeared within the system’s preview—a tall man in dark armor with a plain, almost unfinished face and a thin silver line running down the center of its chest.

There was no decoration, no grand title carved across its shoulders. It looked like something made for one purpose: protection.

His expression slowly changed, and a smile appeared before sharpening. If that bearded old man returned—

Dexter’s fingers flexed. He would be much better prepared.

Yesterday, he had been forced to endure the terrifying difference between their strength. His techniques, his bloodline, his weapon—he had thrown everything forward and still barely kept himself alive.

Now he had something that could stand on the same battlefield as a Transcendent.

He didn’t know the elder’s exact stage. That mattered. A puppet at the Initial Stage was not an excuse to become careless.

But it was enough to make him breathe more easily. And if the old man intended to casually point another finger at him, he might discover that the boy he bullied yesterday had acquired an unpleasant surprise.

Dexter bound the puppet to himself within the system storage, then marked Mira, Lyra, and Selene as protected individuals. Only after that did he move on.
