Chapter 178: Destroying the Western Spatial Anchor Gate

Radiant Light exploded between the weapons.

The woman immediately shifted her footing and forced the zombie backward, but another attack was already approaching from her side.

Her control remained impressive, but still... that did not change the fact that she was being pressured.

Cain raised an eyebrow.

Origin Solar Flame gathered around him. Golden-white light condensed in the air until a dozen lances formed around his body.

The sudden increase in temperature immediately drew attention from several nearby people.

Cain ignored them as his gaze moved across the battlefield, searching for the people struggling the most.

Ten of the lances changed direction.

"Let’s make this faster." Cain murmured to himself as he shot the Lances forward.

BOOM!

The first lance descended beside a 2nd Echelon zombie.

Its lower body disappeared inside the explosion, sending the creature crashing onto the ground.

The human fighting it stumbled backward and stared at the ruined zombie in disbelief.

Another golden-white streak crossed the next road.

A 2nd Echelon soldier managed to raise its weapon, but the lance struck with enough force to blast it through the wall of a nearby building.

More attacks followed as Cain adjusted their trajectories whenever a human was in a dangerous position.

There was no reason to kill every target himself as the benefit from killing 2nd Echelons wasn’t enough considering how little stats he would get for doing so anyway.

Besides, letting other people kill them was much better as they could level up faster.

One zombie lost an arm before the explosion threw it across the street.

Another was smashed into the ground with most of its torso burned black.

The humans fighting nearby froze for a moment, several of them turned toward the breach in the outer wall.

Only then did many of them realize that another group had entered the settlement.

The Radiant Sword Saint noticed as well, her blue eyes shifted toward the newcomer.

For a brief moment, surprise appeared across her face.

A black-haired young man was walking calmly into the battlefield with golden-white lances hovering around him.

She could tell that these Lances were so strong and she wasn’t confident in accepting them directly.

Cain noticed her gaze.

Their eyes met across the battlefield.

He merely smiled faintly before moving his attention toward the Western Spatial Anchor Gate.

There was no need to waste more time.

The structure stood on an elevated platform deeper inside the settlement.

Its layout was nearly identical to the Southern Anchor.

Two enormous crystal cores stood beside the main Gate, continuously supplying dimensional energy into the structure.

Cain still had two lances remaining.

How convenient...

He continued walking forward leisurely.

Behind him, the battle had already begun shifting heavily in favor of the humans.

Lightning flashed through one of the roads as Ron chased down another 2nd Echelon soldier.

Ice spread across a different section of the settlement when Elara intercepted an enemy attempting to retreat.

Cain left the rest to them.

His right hand rose, the two remaining lances rotated toward the crystal cores.

At the same time, Fire Mana began gathering above his palm as he used his (Inferno Star) skill.

The golden-white flames compressed rapidly.

The surrounding heat intensified as the energy became increasingly dense, eventually forming a small sphere that resembled a miniature star.

Cain stared at the Anchor for a moment before flicking his wrist.

The two lances launched first.

BOOM!

The first crystal shattered.

Dimensional energy erupted from the broken structure and scattered wildly across the platform.

The second lance reached the opposite side a moment later.

BOOOOM!

The remaining crystal core exploded.

The entire Western Anchor began trembling violently.

Gray-black energy surged through the channels covering the elevated platform as the dimensional structure struggled to remain stable without the two crystal cores supporting it.

The energy column extending into the crimson sky twisted noticeably.

Cain released the Inferno Star.

The condensed sphere crossed the battlefield.

Several Zombie Race soldiers instinctively raised their heads when the intense heat passed above them.

The miniature star continued forward until it reached the damaged Gate.

Cain closed his hand.

BOOOOOOOOM!

Golden-white flames swallowed the elevated platform.

The explosion shook the surrounding settlement.

Sections of nearby damaged buildings collapsed as the wave of scorching air swept through the surrounding streets.

Human fighters instinctively raised their arms.

The Radiant Sword Saint stopped moving, her manifested swords remained suspended around her as she stared toward the blazing platform.

Through the golden-white flames, the Western Spatial Anchor began collapsing.

Without the two crystal cores, the structure had already become unstable.

Inferno Star destroyed what remained.

A massive fracture spread across the central Gate.

Part of the structure broke away and crashed onto the platform.

The rest followed shortly afterward.

Above the settlement, the gray-black energy column disappeared.

The violent dimensional fluctuations surrounding the platform weakened rapidly.

Then a golden screen appeared before every human inside the Invasion Corridor.

[World Announcement]

[Heavenly Dragon has successfully destroyed the Western Spatial Anchor Gate within the Invasion Corridor.]

[The Western Spatial Anchor has collapsed.]

[World-Class Mission Progress: 3/4 Spatial Anchor Gates destroyed.]

Cain stared at the announcement, a smile appeared on his face as he mumbled softly.

"There it goes, the third one."

Only the Northern Spatial Anchor remained.

If Heavenly Demon continued moving the way Cain expected, the final Anchor might not remain intact for much longer.

Once it fell, the Anchor Network protecting the central region would collapse completely, then nothing would stop Cain from going after the World Gate Core.

His lips curved upward slightly as they were finally getting close.

Several meters away, the blonde woman was still staring at the golden announcement.

Her expression had changed completely.

"Heavenly Dragon..."

The words escaped her lips quietly as her gaze returned toward Cain.

The title had appeared in the Universe Announcement not long after the apocalypse began.

Since then, countless humans had wondered who the person behind it was.

The Radiant Sword Saint had considered several possibilities herself, but none of them matched the young man standing in front of her.

He looked far too calm after destroying one of the four Spatial Anchors as if he had merely finished dealing with something inconvenient.

More importantly, the strength she had just witnessed was difficult to reconcile with the fact that Heavenly Dragon was supposedly still only at the 1st Echelon.

Her blue eyes narrowed slightly.

So this was Heavenly Dragon.
