Investing in My Harem in the Apocalypse Makes Me Stronger
Chapter 171: The Zombie Race’s Movement [POWER STONE BONUS]
Several of the zombies looked toward it uneasily.
The device was not meant for communicating between positions inside the Invasion Corridor.
Its purpose was far more important, because every Invasion Corridor established by the Zombie Race was assigned to its own designation, allowing the Main World to distinguish between the numerous Invasion Corridors connected to different worlds.
The middle-aged zombie placed the communication device in the center of the table and began pouring Mana into the crystal.
Nothing happened at first.
Then the inscriptions surrounding it began lighting up one after another.
The energy gathering inside the room changed as a faint spatial distortion appeared above the device.
The middle-aged zombie continued supplying Mana until the dark crystal finally released a deep pulse.
The distortion stabilized.
A cold voice came from the other side.
"Identify yourself."
The four commanders immediately straightened.
The middle-aged man spoke.
"Central Command of Invasion Corridor 73-A reporting from the invasion front."
There was a short silence.
"Confirmed. What’s the reason for unauthorized contact?"
The man looked toward the two extinguished crystals on the table.
His expression became grim as he continued.
"The situation has changed."
He paused briefly.
"Two Spatial Anchor Gates have been destroyed."
Silence came from the communication device.
The middle-aged zombie continued.
"The Southern Anchor has fallen to a human force led by an individual with the title of Heavenly Dragon."
His eyes moved toward the western marker as he continued.
"The Western Anchor was destroyed shortly afterward by another human named Heavenly Demon and—"
The middle-aged zombie suddenly stopped speaking.
"Did you just say Heavenly Dragon?"
The voice coming from the communication device had changed.
The previous cold indifference was gone as the middle-aged zombie stared at the spatial distortion above the dark crystal with a confused expression.
He had expected questions about the destroyed Spatial Anchors.
Perhaps even anger because the Central Command had allowed half of the Anchor Network to collapse within such a short period of time.
Instead, the person on the other side seemed to care far more about a single name.
Before he could respond, the voice came again.
But this time, the voice carried a trace of impatience.
"Hey. Did you not hear my fucking question?"
The middle-aged zombie immediately straightened.
"My apologies, sir."
He did not dare delay any longer as he immediately explained.
"Yes. The individual responsible for destroying the Southern Spatial Anchor Gate was identified as Heavenly Dragon."
"Are you certain?"
The middle-aged zombie frowned slightly.
"Yes, sir?"
"Are you certain that it was the Heavenly Dragon who destroyed the Southern Anchor Gate?"
The question was asked much more seriously this time.
The middle-aged zombie glanced toward the extinguished southern crystal resting on the round table.
"I am certain of it."
His voice became firm.
"The World Announcement appeared throughout Invasion Corridor 73-A immediately after the Southern Spatial Anchor was destroyed. The human responsible was identified directly as Heavenly Dragon."
He paused before adding.
"There is no possibility that I misunderstood what I saw."
The other commanders around the table exchanged glances.
None of them understood why their superior suddenly seemed so interested in the human named Heavenly Dragon.
Until now, it was merely the title of an unusually powerful enemy leading the human force attacking from the southern region.
Apparently, the Main World knew far more about that name than they did.
Then the voice from the communication device responded.
"Good."
The middle-aged zombie’s eyebrow rose slightly.
’Good?’
Half of the Spatial Anchor Network protecting this invasion front had just been destroyed.
One of their 3rd Echelon commanders was almost certainly dead.
Several military settlements had been attacked.
Yet somehow, confirming the identity of the person responsible was considered good news?
The middle-aged zombie wisely kept that thought to himself.
"Tell me the situation there briefly."
"Yes, sir."
The middle-aged zombie quickly summarized everything that had happened inside Invasion Corridor 73-A.
He explained the current situation in a nutshell without wasting time on unnecessary details.
When he finished, there was a short silence.
"Understood."
The voice on the other side had regained some of its earlier calm.
"For now, forget about recovering the Southern and Western regions."
"Sir?" The middle-aged zombie asked with a confused expression.
"Focus every available force on protecting the World Gate Core."
The four commanders around the table became serious.
The voice continued.
"Do not scatter your remaining troops unless absolutely necessary. If the humans move toward the central region, delay them for as long as possible."
There was a brief pause.
"I’ll send reinforcements soon."
Relief immediately appeared on several faces around the table.
The middle-aged zombie lowered his head slightly.
"Thank you, sir."
The spatial distortion above the communication device trembled, then the connection disappeared.
The inscriptions surrounding the dark crystal gradually lost their light.
The room became silent again.
The middle-aged zombie continued staring at the communication device for several seconds.
One of the commanders finally spoke.
"What was that about?"
Nobody answered him.
The middle-aged zombie looked toward the extinguished southern marker.
Heavenly Dragon.
Until a while ago, that name had meant nothing to him.
Now he had a feeling that the human who destroyed the Southern Anchor was far more troublesome than any of them initially realized.
...
The Main World of the Zombie Race was so enormous that comparing it to the incomplete territory inside an Invasion Corridor would have been meaningless.
Cities stretched across vast regions.
Towering structures rose from the ground, many built from dark stone mixed with unknown metals that naturally absorbed Mana from the surroundings.
Countless powerful presences moved throughout the enormous civilization.
Inside one of the large military districts, the man who had just received the report from Invasion Corridor 73-A suddenly stood from his seat.
Several subordinates nearby looked toward him.
"Sir?"
He ignored them.
The expression on his face had changed completely from the indifference he displayed when answering the unauthorized communication request.
"Heavenly Dragon..."
He muttered the name under his breath, then Mana surged around his body.
The floor beneath his feet trembled slightly.
His figure then vanished into thin air as a powerful gust swept through the room after he was already gone.
Several officers stared at the empty space.
A few moments later, the man reappeared far away from the building.
His boots touched the ground in front of an enormous structure located deeper inside the military district.
Compared to the command building he had just left, this place looked far more imposing.
The walls towered high above the surrounding structures.
Massive pillars supported the front of the building, each covered in dark inscriptions that released a faint pressure toward anyone approaching without permission.
At the top of the broad staircase stood an enormous pair of doors, where two soldiers clad in heavy dark armor stood guard with long spears held firmly in their hands.
Neither soldier moved when the man appeared, their expressions remaining completely indifferent despite the much stronger aura surrounding him.
Powerful energy circulated quietly within their bodies, revealing that both gatekeepers had already established their Source Cores.
Even though the newcomer clearly held a higher military rank and possessed strength far beyond theirs, neither of them showed the slightest trace of nervousness.
