Investing in My Harem in the Apocalypse Makes Me Stronger
Chapter 169: Destroying the Spatial Anchor Gate
The two unused lances dispersed at the same time. Countless sparks disappeared into the air.
Cain withdrew the True Ruin Energy circulating through his muscles.
The pressure within his body immediately eased.
Black scales covering his transformed right arm gradually receded until his hand returned to normal.
Only then did the notifications finally begin appearing.
[Ding! You have killed a Level 85 3rd Echelon Zombie Race Commander.]
Cain’s eyes brightened.
The following notification made his expression even better.
[Ding! You have obtained Strength +12, Agility +8, Physique +10, and Sense +10.]
"Finally."
It had been some time since a kill rewarded him with that many bonus Stats.
Then another pair of notifications followed.
[Ding! You have killed a Level 70 2nd Echelon Zombie Race Soldier.]
[Ding! You have obtained Strength +3, Agility +2, Physique +2, and Sense +2.]
[Ding! You have killed a Level 71 2nd Echelon Zombie Race Soldier.]
[Ding! You have obtained Strength +2, Agility +3, Physique +2, and Sense +1.]
Cain smiled in satisfaction.
He had reached the Level limit of the 1st Echelon, which meant Experience currently did little for him until his Advancement Mission was completed.
Bonus Stats were different as they strengthened him immediately.
And the fact that a 3rd Echelon enemy could still provide double-digit increases meant hunting stronger beings inside the Corridor remained extremely worthwhile.
The System had not finished as he received more notifications.
[World-Class Mission Zone Bonus applied.]
[Ding! You have obtained 1,100,000 System Points.]
[Ding! You have obtained 400,000 System Points.]
[Ding! You have obtained 410,000 System Points.]
Cain’s eyes lit up when he saw he obtained more than 1.9 million System Points from those three kills alone.
Cain looked toward the crater where the commander had died.
For a coward, the bastard had at least been generous after death.
His attention shifted away from the notifications as the sounds of battle had already moved farther toward the surrounding roads as his group chased the fleeing Zombie Race soldiers.
Cain could see Ron’s Lightning appearing between the buildings.
Nathan’s arrows crossed the roads from farther behind.
Professor Ian remained separated from the others, pursuing his own targets exactly as required by his mission.
There was no need for Cain to join them as he believed in their abilities.
Not only that, their positions were the ones who were chasing them around, not directly clashing with numerous zombies at once.
He then turned around.
The Southern Spatial Anchor Gate remained above the broad staircase.
Gray-black energy continued flowing through the two enormous crystal cores positioned beside the central structure.
Cain stared at it.
This was why they had to come here.
He began walking toward the staircase.
The elevated platform became clearer as he approached.
Dense dimensional energy flowed through carved channels across the black stone before entering the Gate.
The two crystal cores continuously pulsed.
Cain’s golden eyes traced the connections between them.
All three components supported one another.
Destroying only the central structure would not be enough if the crystals continued supplying energy.
"Then I just need to destroy everything together, right?" Cain murmured to himself as he stopped near the lower steps.
Golden-white Fire Mana gathered above his palm.
The energy compressed rapidly.
Heat spread throughout the surrounding plaza once again, though nowhere near what had appeared while the Origin Sun was manifested.
Naturally, Cain no longer needed that level of amplification as the Solar Origin Body alone already multiplied the strength of his Fire abilities tremendously (5x).
The sphere above his hand became denser as he used his (Inferno Star) skill.
Its surface turned golden-white as the Fire Mana continued collapsing inward.
At the same time, Origin Solar Flame gathered around him once again.
Three lances manifested in the air.
Cain looked toward the left crystal core.
One lance rotated toward it.
The second one aimed at the opposite core.
The final lance pointed directly toward the center of the Southern Spatial Anchor Gate.
Cain raised his hand and flicked his wrist.
"Go."
All three disappeared.
BOOM!
The first lance struck the left crystal core.
Cracks spread across its dark surface instantly.
The compressed Solar energy penetrated deep inside before exploding.
The enormous crystal burst apart. Dimensional energy erupted wildly from the shattered remains.
Almost at the same moment, the second lance hit the opposite side.
BOOM!
The right crystal core fractured.
Large pieces flew from the platform as the energy contained within escaped uncontrollably.
The central Gate reacted.
Gray-black light surged across its frame.
The dimensional column above the town twisted violently.
Cain watched the final lance strike directly into the Gate.
CRACK!
A deep fracture appeared through the structure.
The carved patterns across its surface flashed erratically.
Energy from the destroyed crystal cores rushed toward the damaged center with nowhere stable to flow.
Cain smiled in satisfaction before releasing his Inferno Star.
The dense golden-white sphere shot upward.
It crossed the staircase and reached the damaged Spatial Anchor Gate.
Cain closed his fingers.
BOOOOOOOM!
The entire elevated platform disappeared beneath Solar flames.
A wave of scorching air swept through the Anchor Plaza.
Cain remained standing at the bottom of the staircase as broken stone flew past him.
The damaged buildings around the plaza shook.
Several windows shattered from the force.
Golden-white flames continued expanding before finally beginning to collapse inward.
Through them, Cain saw the central Gate breaking apart.
The large fracture created by the lance spread from top to bottom.
One half of the structure tilted, then collapsed before the remaining side followed shortly afterward.
The channels carved throughout the platform went dark.
Above the Southern Anchor Town, the enormous gray-black energy column flickered.
For a few seconds, it continued trying to maintain itself despite the destruction below.
When the entire column broke apart, the energy scattered across the crimson sky before fading into the unstable atmosphere of the Invasion Corridor.
Cain looked upward.
The Southern Spatial Anchor Gate was gone.
A clear notification sounded throughout the entire Invasion Corridor.
Not only Cain heard it, but every human participating in the World-Class Mission saw the same golden screen appear before them, as well as those in their original world.
