Chapter 128:A Field Day In Valemont
Chapter 128: Chapter 128:A Field Day In Valemont
After considering her options, Mira finally spoke.
"Minister Bush, Mom, do you remember when my health suddenly deteriorated?" she said.
"No matter how hard I trained, my cultivation kept declining instead of improving."
"Of course we remember!" Helena and Samuel answered almost simultaneously.
The period had been particularly distressing for Helena.
Watching her daughter struggle despite her efforts had been heartbreaking.
Victoria, who had only accepted Mira as her disciple recently, knew less about the details of her past. Nevertheless, she had heard about the unusual problem.
Samuel frowned slightly.
"But what does that have to do with your fight against Damon Veil?" he asked.
"It has everything to do with it," Mira replied.
She paused briefly, organizing the explanation she had prepared.
"My condition was resolved recently, but it wasn’t simply because I awakened the Ice Phoenix Divine Body," she said.
"There was another reason." She took a breath. "Another personality awakened inside me."
The room fell silent.
"What?" Helena stared at her daughter as though she had suddenly begun speaking a foreign language.
Samuel was equally astonished, while Victoria’s expression turned thoughtful.
A second personality? At first, the explanation sounded almost like a description of schizophrenia.
However, the world had changed considerably since the resurgence of spiritual energy, and many phenomena that once seemed impossible had become accepted realities.
As the spiritual energy of heaven and earth grew stronger, ordinary illnesses had become far less common.
Diseases that had plagued humanity for generations, including cancer and cerebral infarctions, were no longer the overwhelming threats they had once been.
Mental illnesses had also become exceptionally rare. Yet there had been documented cases of people possessing two distinct personalities.
The most famous example was Paul Grant, the legendary martial artist known as the Two-Faced Thunder God.
Forty years earlier, Jiang Tianshui had awakened a lightning type supernatural ability while already standing at the peak of the Divine Power Realm.
His extraordinary strength had made him famous throughout the martial world, and he had eventually died fighting the demon race.
His defining characteristic, however, was the existence of two entirely different personalities within one body.
According to the accounts surrounding his life, that unusual condition had played a crucial role in his advancement toward the Divine Realm.
Remembering the legend, everyone in the room began connecting the dots. Could Mira’s situation be similar?
Victoria was the first to voice the question.
"Are you saying that your second personality is like Paul Grant’s ?" she asked. "Does she possess abilities that are completely different from yours?"
"Yes, Master," Mira nodded without hesitation.
She had deliberately chosen this explanation because she was familiar with the story of the Two-Faced Thunder God.
His existence provided a credible precedent, making her claim far more believable than an explanation involving a mysterious soul from another life.
She also knew that her secret might eventually be exposed if Lydia took control of her body again.
For now, though, the second personality explanation was the safest option.
"Her personality had already begun forming about seven months ago," Mira continued.
"Ever since then, she has been absorbing my spiritual energy. That’s why my cultivation kept getting weaker despite all my efforts."
Helena’s expression changed as she recalled those difficult months. It was an explanation that finally made sense of her daughter’s strange decline.
Mira continued speaking before anyone could interrupt.
"Only recently did she fully awaken," she said.
"After that happened, my cultivation finally began progressing normally again." She paused, then added,
"The person who fought Damon Veil just now wasn’t entirely me. My second personality took control and used her own abilities to fight him."
Samuel listened intently.
Mira lowered her gaze slightly, as though recalling something she still could not fully understand.
"Honestly, I didn’t know she was that powerful either," she said.
"I never imagined she could fight someone as strong as Damon Veil."
She then revealed the final part of her carefully constructed story.
"But using that sword technique seemed to consume an enormous amount of energy," she said.
"After the attack, she became completely exhausted and fell into a deep sleep. I have no idea when she’ll wake up again."
Mira finished speaking. Her explanation was detailed enough to account for both her previous decline in cultivation and her astonishing performance during the battle.
More importantly, the existence of the Two-Faced Thunder God gave everyone a historical example they could use to understand the situation.
For the moment, there was little reason to doubt her.
Victoria shook her head slowly, still struggling to absorb everything she had heard.
"That’s extraordinary," she said.
"I never expected something like this to happen to you."
Samuel let out a long sigh.
"Neither did I," he said. "Who could have imagined that Mira would develop such a rare condition?"
Then, as he considered the possibilities, his expression gradually brightened.
"Wait a moment," he said.
"If Paul Grant’s second personality contributed to his incredible achievements, could Mira eventually follow the same path?"
His excitement grew as he thought about it.
The Two-Faced Thunder God had reached the peak of the Divine Power Realm before his death.
Had he survived, he might have advanced even further, perhaps reaching the Creation Realm or even the legendary Venerable Realm. Now, Mira appeared to possess a similar condition.
If her second personality could help her overcome the limitations of her current cultivation, her future prospects might be astonishing.
Samuel could barely contain his enthusiasm. Mira belonged to the Extraordinary Division under Victoria’s jurisdiction.
If she eventually grew into a powerhouse comparable to Jiang Tianshui, the benefits to their Division would be immeasurable.
This could change everything for us!
He was already imagining the possibilities.
However, Victoria was not interested in spending the entire afternoon speculating about her disciple’s future. Her expression hardened as she redirected the conversation.
"Enough about Mira’s condition," she said. "We have a much more pressing problem to deal with." Her eyes narrowed. "The Bloodshadow Cult."
Damon Veil was dead, but the organization he commanded was still out there.
His attempt to abduct and devour her disciple had crossed a line Victoria was not prepared to forgive.
She had no intention of allowing the matter to end with the death of a single man.
"If the Bloodshadow Cult dares to target my disciple, I’ll make sure they pay for it," she said. "I’ll personally see to their eradication!"
Her voice carried an unmistakable killing intent. Then another name came to mind.
"The Lindsay family, too," she said, her gaze growing colder. "I hope they had nothing to do with this. Because if I discover that they were involved..."
She left the threat unfinished. She did not need to say anything more.
The murderous look in her eyes made her intentions perfectly clear.
The principal’s office had barely settled into silence when the door suddenly swung open.
Vice Principal Johnny strode inside, his face brimming with excitement.
He had rushed over immediately after finishing the initial arrangements for dealing with the destruction at the academy.
"Mira, I heard you fought Damon Veil directly and actually defeated him despite being only at the 8th-Level of the Foundation Establishment Realm!" he said.
"Tell me, how did you manage that?"
He could hardly contain his curiosity.
After hearing the accounts from the teachers and students who had witnessed the battle, he had been desperate to learn the truth behind Mira’s astonishing performance.
Mira could only smile awkwardly.
"Principal, it’s a little complicated," she said. "Let me explain."
She repeated the explanation she had given Samuel Bush and the others, telling him about the second personality that had supposedly awakened inside her and taken control during the battle.
Johnny listened attentively, his expression changing several times as he processed her words.
"I never imagined something like this could happen to you," he said, shaking his head in amazement before a new thought suddenly occurred to him.
"Could Arcadia Academy actually produce another powerhouse like the Two-Faced Thunder God?"
The possibility left him thrilled. He had already heard enough about Mira’s battle to understand that the sword technique she had displayed was far beyond what someone at her current cultivation level should be capable of using.
Yet, according to her explanation, the second personality had not increased her physical cultivation.
Mira remained an 8th-Level Foundation Establishment Realm martial artist.
That raised an exciting possibility.
If she could already contend with a Star Sea Realm expert while at the Foundation Establishment Realm, what would happen when she advanced to the Spirit Platform Realm?
Might she eventually be able to challenge Divine Power Realm martial artists?
Even if she couldn’t reach that level, there was little doubt that her combat strength could become extraordinary.
Johnny’s excitement grew as he imagined what such a talent could mean for Arcadia Academy. Then he remembered something else.
"By the way, Mira, do you know where Graham Cole went?" he asked.
The moment he mentioned that name, the attention of everyone in the office shifted toward Mira.
Although she had fought Damon, the mysterious Graham Cole had been the one to finish him off.
And the man’s repeated appearances had not escaped anyone’s notice.
First, he had rescued Helena. Then he killed Collins Lindsay.
Now, he had appeared at Arcadia Academy and eliminated Damon before publicly returning the Dragon Bone Puppet to Mira.
Three significant incidents, all somehow connected to the same young woman. It would have been difficult for anyone to believe that Graham Cole’s repeated interventions were merely coincidences.
A powerhouse capable of killing the Bloodshadow Cult Master was an exceptionally valuable person to know.
Johnny naturally wanted to establish a relationship with him.
Samuel Bush had his own calculations.
The Extraordinary Division under his jurisdiction lacked a powerful Star Sea Realm martial artist of this caliber. If he could persuade Graham Cole to cooperate with them, it would greatly strengthen their position.
Helena, meanwhile, was concerned about her daughter’s connection to such a mysterious and powerful man.
Victoria’s thoughts were even more complicated. There’s no such thing as a completely free favor. Why would Graham Cole repeatedly help Mira? Does he have some other intention toward my disciple?
Every person in the room had a different reason for wanting answers, but they all looked to Mira for an explanation.
Unfortunately, she could only shake her head helplessly.
"Principal, I honestly don’t know anything about him," she said. "I’ve never even spoken to Graham Cole."
She was not lying.
Of all the people in the room, she probably knew the least about the mysterious powerhouse who had repeatedly come to her aid.
She had not even known his name until she heard others discussing him that day.
Johnny could not help feeling disappointed.
"If that’s the case, we’ll have to find another way to contact him," he said.
Victoria nodded thoughtfully.
"Perhaps we should ask Mr. X," she said.
"Samuel told me that Graham Cole is acquainted with him. Considering what happened to Helena and Collins Lindsay, it’s clear that there’s some connection between the two men."
The others did not find this particularly surprising. Samuel had already shared what he knew about Graham Cole’s relationship with Mr. X.
However, Victoria’s casual mention of the name made Johnny and Helena pause.
"Mr. X?" Samuel turned toward her with a puzzled expression. "General Quill, are you saying he’s a grandmaster?"
Johnny looked equally confused.
"I thought he was an exceptionally skilled alchemist," he said. "When did he become a grandmaster? Unless—"
Their eyes widened as a possibility occurred to them.
Victoria stared at them for a moment before suddenly laughing.
"Ah, it seems I’ve accidentally revealed something I shouldn’t have," she said, shaking her head with amusement.
"Since you’ve already guessed, I might as well tell you. Mr. X has indeed reached the rank of Grandmaster Alchemist. In fact, I obtained a 7th-Grade elixir from him just a few days ago."
The revelation left the room in stunned silence.
Then Victoria’s expression became serious.
"However, I expect all of you to keep this information confidential," she said.
"If word gets out that we have access to a Grandmaster Alchemist, countless people will try to poach him from us. I have no intention of allowing that to happen."
"Of course!" Samuel immediately assured her.
"Don’t worry, General. We understand how important this is," Johnny added.
Helena also agreed to keep the secret.
Even after hearing their assurances, the excitement on Samuel and Johnny’s faces was difficult to conceal.
They had initially believed that establishing a relationship with a master alchemist was already an extraordinary stroke of luck.
Who could have imagined that Mr. X was actually a Grandmaster Alchemist? Someone of that standing could produce elixirs that most martial artists could only dream of obtaining.
Having such a person in their circle was an opportunity that might not come along even once in a lifetime.
Johnny could hardly believe it.
"Mr. X is so young, yet he’s already a Grandmaster Alchemist? That’s unbelievable!" he said.
Samuel was equally astonished.
Only Mira remained relatively calm.
After all, her husband had already given her a 7th-Grade Saint Purification Pill refined by Mr. X.
Compared with that personal experience, hearing other people marvel at his abilities was not particularly surprising.
She simply kept her thoughts to herself.
* * *
The Earthly Fiend Imprisoning God Formation had covered a vast area around Arcadia Academy.
During the incident, numerous teachers and students had witnessed Damon Veil, the notorious leader of the Bloodshadow Cult, with their own eyes.
Once the barrier disappeared and the immediate danger passed, news of the incident spread rapidly.
However, it was not merely Damon’s appearance that attracted attention.
