Investing In My Crippled Genius Wife: I Get 10,000x Returns
Chapter 125: Five Minutes Before His Revenge; Can We Win?
Chapter 125: Chapter 125: Five Minutes Before His Revenge; Can We Win?
Mira’s heart sank. Five minutes? That was nowhere near enough time to guarantee victory.
When our husband comes home tonight, remember to wake me up, Lydia added.
Under normal circumstances, Mira would have been flustered by the way Lydia casually referred to Xavier as her husband.
She might even have protested against the woman’s familiar tone. But there was no room for such thoughts now.
"Lydia, can’t you defeat him before your time runs out?" Mira asked anxiously through their connection.
It’s difficult, Lydia admitted with a sigh. My recovery is still too incomplete. If I could merge with my third soul, I would have a much better chance of defeating him.
Mira immediately thought of the mysterious bell associated with the souls hidden within her.
"What about the demonic beasts inside the Soul Bell? Can’t you use their power?"
No. The Soul Bell is little more than a vessel at the moment. The creatures inside are only remnants of their former souls, and they won’t provide much help in a fight. Besides, drawing on them would take time we don’t have.
Lydia’s tone grew more serious.
We must finish this before he escapes the range of my swordsmanship. If he manages to create enough distance, I’ll lose the advantage of close combat. Once that happens, we’ll be in real danger.
Mira fell silent. She understood the problem now.
Their best chance depended on ending the battle before Lydia’s remaining energy ran out, but Damon was a Star Sea Realm expert.
Even with her extraordinary swordsmanship, defeating him was far from guaranteed.
With no better option, Mira could only hope that a miracle would occur.
Unfortunately, what followed was anything but a miracle.
After roughly two minutes of relentless fighting, Damon finally made a desperate decision.
He deliberately exposed himself to one of Mira’s attacks, accepting the risk of serious injury in exchange for an opportunity to escape the sword’s control.
The Dragon Bone Sword pierced deeply into his chest. Pain flashed across Damon’s face, but he refused to retreat empty handed.
As the blade entered his body, he thrust both daggers forward, aiming one at Mira’s head and the other directly at her heart.
It was a vicious counterattack that left her no safe way to continue pressing forward. Mira had no choice but to withdraw.
That brief retreat was all Damon needed. He immediately broke free of the sword’s oppressive rhythm and opened up some distance between them.
Blood stained his clothes, but his expression had changed completely.
The amusement was gone. So was the arrogance with which he had first entered the academy.
Instead, his eyes burned with excitement and murderous intent.
"Impressive!" he said.
"I never imagined that someone at the Foundation Establishment Realm could force me into such a predicament."
He wiped the blood from his chest and stared at Mira as though she had become an even more desirable prize.
"Now I understand why you’ve attracted so much attention," he said.
"The more I see of you, the more I want to devour you!"
His cultivation might still be superior, but Damon had learned a painful lesson: he could no longer afford to treat Mira as an ordinary opponent.
"You’ve had your chance to impress me," he declared coldly.
"Now I’ll show you what a genuine Star Sea Realm expert can do!"
The moment he finished speaking, the supernatural power within his body erupted.
A terrifying pressure swept outward from Damon, spreading across the playground like an approaching catastrophe.
The ground trembled violently. Cracks raced across the earth, and the surrounding structures shuddered as though they were caught in the middle of a violent earthquake.
The air itself seemed to distort beneath the force he released.
In an instant, the playground was transformed into a scene of devastation, as if mountains were collapsing and the earth was splitting apart.
Damon had finally decided to unleash his true strength.
The world seemed to tremble as Damon Veil unleashed his supernatural ability.
An invisible field of force spread outward from his body, distorting the surrounding air until visible ripples appeared in the space around him.
The ground groaned under the crushing pressure. Within moments, the earth beneath everyone’s feet began to sink, its surface collapsing as though an enormous weight had suddenly descended upon it.
The soil was compressed repeatedly until it hardened into dense rock.
Yet the transformation only made things worse.
Unable to withstand the pressure, the rock shattered, sending countless sharp fragments flying in every direction like bullets.
Supernatural Ability: Gravity Field!
The area under its influence expanded at an alarming rate, covering hundreds of meters in the blink of an eye.
Even then, the expansion showed no signs of stopping.
The sudden barrage of flying stones forced Mira to remain on guard.
Her expression stayed composed as she swung the Dragon Bone Sword, knocking away the fragments that came hurtling toward her.
However, she could not keep deflecting them indefinitely.
During the fierce exchange that had lasted for roughly two minutes, the teachers and students on the playground had scattered to safer positions.
Unfortunately, most of them had only retreated to a distance where they could still watch the battle rather than leaving the area entirely.
If Damon’s Gravity Field continued spreading at this speed, it would reach the nearest spectators within seconds.
But that was not Mira’s greatest concern. She had noticed Damon moving toward her.
The Bloodshadow Cult Master was no longer content to control the battlefield from a distance. He had decided to hunt her down personally.
Until now, Lydia had relied on her extraordinary swordsmanship to keep Damon at bay.
Although his cultivation was far superior, her mastery of the blade had prevented him from gaining the upper hand.
Unfortunately, swordsmanship alone could not erase the enormous difference between their physical abilities.
Damon’s figure blurred as he closed the distance.
Before Mira could retreat beyond his reach, she was swallowed by the expanding Gravity Field.
At the critical moment, a thin layer of chaotic energy enveloped her body.
Under the crushing pressure, the protective layer began glowing faintly red.
The two conflicting energies were colliding, producing a reaction that resembled burning.
Although chaotic energy was vastly superior in quality, the amount available to Lydia was pitifully small.
Maintaining this protection would consume it rapidly, leaving her with almost nothing.
Don’t panic. Just watch carefully. My next sword strike will be worth remembering.
Lydia reassured Mira silently.
She then lifted the Dragon Bone Sword with both hands, her expression growing solemn.
A brilliant purple gold light erupted from the tip of the blade and shot into the heavens.
In an instant, the entire Arcadia Academy, which had been shrouded in darkness by the black barrier, was illuminated as though daylight had suddenly returned.
Even the distant spectators could barely believe what they were seeing.
Once I unleash this technique, I can maintain control for ten seconds at most. If it doesn’t kill him, there will be nothing else I can do.
Lydia communicated her final warning to Mira.
Mira had no opportunity to respond.
Her entire attention was fixed on the sword in Lydia’s hands, captivated by the overwhelming power gathering around it.
Then came a deafening roar.
A colossal purple gold sword aura descended from the sky, crashing toward Damon with enough force to make the surrounding space seem to tremble.
Damon sensed the danger immediately.
His instincts screamed at him to escape, and he abandoned his attack, fleeing in the opposite direction as fast as he could.
Unfortunately, he was already too late.
The sword aura struck with devastating force.
A massive ravine tore through the ground, beginning where Mira stood and stretching two or three hundred meters into the distance.
The earth split apart beneath the strike, leaving behind a horrifying scar that demonstrated the sheer destructive power of the technique.
Everyone who witnessed it was struck speechless.
Damon had been caught in the attack and slammed into the ground. For a moment, there was no movement from where he had fallen.
Had the battle finally ended?
The silence lasted only briefly before the spectators erupted.
"What kind of sword technique was that?!Mira, please teach me how to use it!" one student cried.
"Forget him! I want to learn it too!" another shouted.
"Mira is incredible! We actually won! We defeated a Star Sea Realm powerhouse!"
"We’re alive! We’re really alive!"
Some students were so overwhelmed with relief that they began crying.
After witnessing Damon’s terrifying abilities, they had genuinely believed they were about to die.
Seeing Mira unleash such a devastating attack had turned their despair into unrestrained excitement.
However, their celebration was cut short.
"Wait! Look over there! He’s still alive!" someone shouted.
Damon suddenly sprang into the air.
Despite taking a direct hit from that terrifying sword technique, the Bloodshadow Cult Master remained alive.
More astonishingly, he still appeared capable of fighting.
The spectators stared at him in disbelief, wondering how anyone could survive such an attack.
Yet Damon had no intention of continuing the battle. He turned his gaze toward Mira and stared at her deeply, committing her appearance to memory.
Then he spun around and fled without hesitation.
"Mira, I’ll remember this!" he shouted as he escaped.
"From now on, you’d better watch your back, even when you’re asleep!"
His figure quickly disappeared from sight.
