Innate Immortal Seed

Chapter 580: Sword Scripture Obtained

  • Next Chapter

In scene after scene, the aura of that Sword Cultivator grew ever more vast and profound. His already mountain-like frame grew even more imposing, as lofty and majestic as a pillar holding up the heavens.

Only then did his gaze shift from the Sword Light that filled the world to the man himself.

His features were stern and well-defined. His eyebrows were short and coarse, with a distinct break in one of them.

The hand gripping the sword was massive, its back covered in dark scales. An aura of boundless slaughter, maniacal brutality, and some other indiscernible power swirled around his entire being.

The aura around him grew increasingly complex and terrifying, until it settled into an ineffable, deathly silence.

‘So this is the Cave Profound Godslaying Sword Scripture. Why doesn’t it look like a Righteous Dao Cultivation Technique at all? And the one demonstrating it… he doesn’t seem to be a Human Race Cultivator, does he?’

Absorbed in the Sword Stele’s inheritance, Bai Zichen was oblivious to the outside world. The purest Sword Intent surged all around him, cutting down every enemy in his path.

But soon, it dawned on him that something was wrong.

The beings this Sword Cultivator slew ranged from a Golden Armor Divine General, to a middle-aged Cultivator with a blurred face wearing an Imperial Robe and Crown, to a Demon with a malevolent aura and billowing black smoke. It was impossible to gauge the depths of their power, but judging by their grand entrances and their ability to command the Heaven and Earth Primordial Power, they were at the Divinity Transformation Realm at a bare minimum.

No matter what techniques they employed, none could escape the fate of being beheaded by a single strike of his sword.

The Sword Master, however, was clearly not a Human Race Cultivator; his Demon Race traits were prominent. It was unclear whether he was of the Pure-Blooded Demon Clan or a Half-Demon Cultivator with a mixed bloodline.

‘Which ancestor of the Taibai Sword Sect came from the Demon Race? No, that can’t be right. This Sword Stele is likely several times older than the Sword Sect’s entire history. The Taibai Sword Monarch must have comprehended the Cave Profound Godslaying Sword Scripture from the man in this vision!’

Outside, the war between the Human-Demon Races was raging like a wildfire, drawing in more and more Great Demons and Cultivators.

‘And the Cave Profound Godslaying Sword Scripture that Bai Zichen was pinning his hopes on was actually related to the Demon Race?’

‘The Taibai Sword Sect, regarded as the pinnacle of the Sword Dao—its Fundamental Great Method actually originated from the Demon Race?’

The shock of this revelation made him react a beat too late when the scenes of the inheritance concluded and a Sword Seed descended into his Dantian Qi Sea, coming to rest quietly before his Nascent Soul.

‘Who cares if it was bestowed by the Immortal Realm or if it came from the Demon Race? The Divinity Transformation Great Powers of the Taibai Sword Sect have all proven that there are no issues whatsoever when humans practice this Cultivation Technique. At the very least, it won’t cause any problems all the way up to the point of Ascension to the Upper Realm.’

The rise of the Taibai Sword Sect and the origin of its Cultivation Technique were both shrouded in mystery; no one could explain the full story behind it.

But it would be illogical to suggest it was a Demon Race plot, a faction deliberately cultivated within the Human Race.

The Taibai Sword Sect’s heyday coincided exactly with the Demon Race’s weakest period.

The Qingqiu Death Sea was reclusive and obscure, Lankao Mountain had yet to become the recognized Demon Race Sacred Land, and the Outer Sea Demon Clan couldn’t support the entire race alone. The strength of the Taibai Sword Sect by itself was on par with the whole of the Demon Race.

Furthermore, in the conflicts between the two races, the Taibai Sword Sect was exceptionally ruthless, sparing no Great Demon that dared to overstep its bounds.

The number of Great Demons who had fallen to their swords was innumerable.

The Demon Race had neither the means nor the motive to foster the rise of such a Sword Cultivation Sect.

This was further confirmed when Bai Zichen turned his attention back to the fragile, Transparent Sword Seed and absorbed the detailed information it contained.

‘A Cultivation Technique like this would likely be considered top-tier even in the Celestial Demon Realm, let alone among the Demon Race of the Lower Realm. What Demon Venerable would be willing to make such a colossal investment?’

The Cave Profound Godslaying Sword Scripture was divided into fifteen levels, required no specific Spiritual Root aptitude, and cultivated Attributeless True Essence.

The minimum Cultivation required to begin was Late-Stage Core Formation. Each level corresponded to a major Realm, with the final level leading directly to the legendary Integration Realm.

‘No wonder it’s rumored to be a technique gifted by an Immortal. The most powerful beings in this world—be they the Ancient Divine People born with innate knowledge or the Void Refining Cultivators who performed a Descent Realm—are all restricted to the Divinity Transformation Perfection Realm by the Laws of Heaven and Earth. At best, they might possess methods that approach the power of Void Refining. A Cultivation Technique that allows one to reach the Void Refining Realm would already offer a massive advantage during Ascension compared to a standard Divinity Transformation Technique… but the Integration Realm? Is this some kind of joke?’

Nascent Soul Xiaobai opened its eyes, grabbed the Transparent Sword Seed, and held it up to gaze at it with curiosity.

It was formless and intangible, just a cluster of light that vaguely resembled a Flying Sword.

‘No wonder the Divinity Transformation experts of the Taibai Sword Sect were able to succeed in their Ascension. This Cultivation Technique actually explains the complete Void Refining Realm and even Early-Stage Integration! Even if I can’t cultivate that far, I’ll benefit immensely just from studying it. I was only hoping to find a Cultivation Technique to reach Divinity Transformation. I never expected to solve the problem for the next several thousand years all at once—assuming I even live that long, of course.’

The Nascent Soul Realm granted a lifespan of one thousand years, and Divinity Transformation, two thousand. And that was still under the restrictions of the Human World’s laws.

According to the Descent Great Powers, the Heaven and Earth Primordial Power in the Earth Immortal Realm was a hundred times denser than in the Lower Realm. It allowed for direct exposure to the essence of the sun and moon and the light of the cosmos, drastically shortening the growth cycles of all kinds of Heavenly Materials and Earthly Treasures.

In the Earth Immortal Realm, a Divinity Transformation Cultivator could live for three thousand years, barring illness or disaster, and Life-Extending Spirit Pills were also much easier to acquire.

This was why Divinity Transformation Great Powers whose lifespans were nearly depleted would always make one last desperate gamble before they withered away, willing to risk even death in the turbulent spatial currents.

As long as their Ascension was successful, it meant gaining another thousand years of life or more.

Moreover, upon reaching the Earth Immortal Realm, there might even be a chance to break through to a higher Realm.

A Void Refining Cultivator could enjoy a lifespan of one “session”—a full 10,800 years.

It was also from this Realm onward that all Life-Extending Spirit Pills, Immortal Fruits, and medicinal herbs became completely ineffective.

No matter how many were consumed, that lifespan of one session was fixed.

Not one year more, not one year less.

‘Divinity Transformation, Void Refining, Integration… Heh, I should focus on the present.’

Nascent Soul Xiaobai scoffed, reviewed the first level of the Cave Profound Godslaying Sword Scripture a few times, and the True Essence within Bai Zichen’s body began to circulate along a completely new path.
