Chapter 507: Chapter 488: A Body Full of Treasures
With a wave of the Banner Flag, he drew the Dragon Soul Primordial Spirit into its fabric.
The Black Dragon thrashed wildly on the Banner Flag, threatening to tear through the fabric and escape at any moment.
’These Banner Flags are fine for containing Tier Three Demon Beasts, but a Tier Four Great Demon’s Divine Soul is too powerful. They’re no longer suitable as vessels...’
Bai Zichen paid it no mind. He never expected to use the Banner Flag for the Refinement of the Dragon Soul Primordial Spirit anyway; it was merely for temporary confinement.
After stowing away the Exquisite Treasure Pagoda and the Coiling Dragon Black Gold Spear—which had fallen limply to the ground, too weak to even attempt an escape—he gathered the mountain of flesh and bone into his Realm.
The body of every Tier Four Great Demon was an immense treasure trove.
Years ago, after he and Ge Cang had joined forces to slay the Cyan Simurgh, the greatest spoils had been snatched away by a White Ape that appeared out of nowhere.
This time, he could finally enjoy all the spoils for himself.
He tossed down a ball of Pure Yang True Flame, scorching the area into a barren wasteland, and then swiftly departed using Sword Control.
The Divinity Transformation Demon Lord backing Ao Zhe was far away in the Outer Sea. Relying on a single Reverse Scale to launch a long-range attack with a Bloodline Secret Technique had already pushed it to its limit.
He just didn’t know if, after Ao Zhe’s death, some kind of special soul guide or mark had been left on him that would allow the Demon Race of the Star Constellation Sea to identify the killer at a glance.
Many Sects had similar forbidden spells cast upon their most valued True Disciples. If one were killed outside the Sect, a wisp of a Resentful Soul Guide would remain on the murderer.
The Sect’s elders could then use this mark to hunt them down and exact vengeance.
This type of Resentful Soul Guide is difficult to detect and can only be sensed with a corresponding Secret Technique.
However, the Star Constellation Sea was a world away. This act had merely extended his blood feud with the Dragon Monarch to include the Divinity Transformation Elder Dragon.
If he ever set foot in the Outer Sea, he would likely face the hostility of the entire Demon Race.
That Divinity Transformation Elder Dragon might even risk shortening its own lifespan to launch a furious attack against him.
’What a pity,’ he thought. ’I was thinking that with the Star River Sword Array complete, I could hold my own even against the Dragon Monarch once I reached the Mid-Stage of Nascent Soul. I was even planning to contact those disciples from the Fish Dragon Sect and head to the Outer Sea to open that Immortal Mansion.’
This was the first thought that flashed through Bai Zichen’s mind as he flew on his sword.
For him, the danger of the Outer Sea had just ratcheted up another level.
At the moment, the only remaining threat to him in the Southern Domain was the Qingqiu Death Sea.
As the former Demon Race Sacred Land of the inland Cultivation Realm, it was only natural that the Qingqiu Death Sea had dealings with their kin in the Star Constellation Sea.
Judging by how they had commissioned the Blood God to act rather than dealing with Bai Zichen themselves, it was likely just a transaction.
But he wasn’t one to gamble with his life, so it was best to expose as little as possible.
Who knew how much importance the Qingqiu Death Sea placed on kinship? If they found out Ao Zhe had died by his hand and decided to unite in shared hatred to seek revenge, it would just be more trouble.
He flew back to Dian Country in one go, using Sword Control. He located the deep stone cavern from Xin Youhuang’s memories, and upon seeing the clusters of Ziwei Celestial Fire, he knew he was in the right place.
The Soul Searching Technique hadn’t revealed the correct path to enter the cavern and avoid the Ziwei Celestial Fire. But Bai Zichen was undaunted; he simply formed a hand seal for a Fire-Extinguishing Technique and charged straight in.
The Ziwei Celestial Fire—a single wisp of which could incinerate a Nascent Soul True Monarch—swirled around his body. He could indeed feel a stinging, burning pain.
Unlike any other flame he had ever faced, he could still feel pain and sustain injury.
’Unafraid of Celestial Fire... just unafraid, not completely immune...’
Bai Zichen hurried forward a few steps. The Sun Element Copper Bone within him grew exceptionally hot, making him worry that it might exceed the Immortal Bone’s tolerance for Celestial Fire.
Fortunately, it wasn’t long before he saw the entrance to a pitch-black cavern.
Braving the final ring of Ziwei Celestial Fire, he charged straight through.
’In the images from the Soul Search, it took Xin Youhuang a full hour to enter the cavern every time... It seems the "correct" path to avoid the Ziwei Celestial Fire involves retracing one’s steps countless times.’
Bai Zichen glanced back. The belt of Ziwei Celestial Fire was only a hundred zhang across; he couldn’t fathom how anyone could spend an hour traversing such a short distance.
The cavern was exactly as it had appeared in the images from the Soul Search: deep, damp, and with only the occasional sound of a dripping stalactite echoing through the silence.
When he reached the end, he saw a broken stalactite with a hollowed-out stone basin beneath it.
Inside was a shallow pool of Spiritual Liquid that shimmered with a silvery light in the darkness, like moonlight on shattered scales.
Earth Spirit Milk!
Standing before the stone basin, Bai Zichen caught the faint, sweet fragrance in the air.
With a point of his finger, he guided the Spiritual Liquid into a Mutton Fat Jade Bottle. It didn’t even fill half of it.
’Only seven or eight drops. It accumulates far too slowly. No wonder Xin Youhuang never came to collect it; there’s not even enough to support a single Core Formation Cultivator’s Cultivation to the Perfection stage. Even for a trade, you’d need a larger quantity to get a higher value.’
When consumed directly, Earth Spirit Milk was a Spiritual Object that could advance one’s Cultivation with no negative side effects. When used as an Alchemy Material, it could be refined into a Spirit Pill with a similar effect.
Furthermore, a single drop of Earth Spirit Milk could serve as the main ingredient for an entire batch of Elixirs. The combined effect of the resulting pills would be several times greater than the drop of milk itself.
However, Core Formation Cultivators from truly powerful backgrounds would always consume it directly rather than use it for Alchemy.
All Elixirs, without exception, came with Erysipelas and induced resistance.
No matter how much more efficient the process was, this fact meant it could never compare to consuming the Earth Spirit Liquid directly.
Bai Zichen estimated that this small amount of Earth Spirit Milk was only enough to save a few decades of Cultivation time. He could later give it as a reward to the most outstanding junior disciple in the Qingfeng Sect.
