Sabrina felt Jason’s warm hand settle gently at her waist.

Her entire body went still.

It was such a simple touch, something that shouldn’t have meant anything. She had spotted countless clients before. She had corrected their posture, adjusted their stance, and guided them through difficult exercises without thinking twice about it.

But this was Jason.

The instant his palm rested against her waist, a strange flutter ran through her chest.

Her heartbeat quickened.

She could still hear the gym around them. Plates clinking against metal. Machines moving back and forth. Shoes squeaking against the rubber floor. Conversations drifting through the room.

Yet somehow, all those sounds seemed distant.

The only thing Sabrina could hear clearly was the rapid pounding of her own heart.

Calm down.

She drew a slow breath and tightened her grip around the bar.

It’s just a hand on my waist.

She tried to reason with herself.

I’ve spotted people before. This is completely normal.

Except it didn’t feel normal.

Not with him.

Sabrina swallowed and silently scolded herself.

Come on, Sabrina. Get yourself together.

She carefully lowered herself into the squat.

"Keep your back straight," she instructed, forcing her voice to remain calm. "And keep your knees aligned with your feet. Don’t let them collapse inward."

Jason nodded behind her.

"Like this?"

"Exactly."

She continued demonstrating the movement, speaking slowly and professionally.

"The most important thing is control. Don’t rush the descent, and don’t rely on momentum when you come back up."

Jason remained behind her, watching closely.

Sabrina continued explaining the technique, but her concentration was becoming increasingly difficult to maintain.

Then she felt him move slightly closer.

A warm breath brushed near the side of her neck.

Sabrina’s shoulders stiffened.

A shiver traveled down her back before she could stop it.

Oh, come on...

She clenched her jaw.

It’s the gym.

It’s warm in here.

That’s all.

She glanced toward the ceiling vents.

Why is the air conditioning so weak today?

She took another slow breath.

It didn’t help.

The nervous energy in her chest only seemed to grow stronger the more she tried to suppress it.

Still, she forced herself to finish the repetition.

She lowered herself.

Then began pushing upward.

But halfway through the movement, something went wrong.

Her legs suddenly felt weaker than they had a second earlier.

The barbell seemed to become dramatically heavier.

Sabrina’s eyes widened.

Wait...

She pushed harder.

Nothing.

Her legs trembled.

The weight was no longer moving.

"Sabrina!"

Jason immediately noticed.

Her strength gave out.

She lost her balance and dropped downward.

At the same moment, the barbell slipped from her control.

Everything happened in a fraction of a second.

The heavy bar began falling.

Sabrina’s heart stopped.

A wave of terror crashed over her.

No.

No, no, no!

She knew exactly how dangerous a failed squat could be.

Her mind raced through everything she had left behind.

Her daughter.

Her home.

The future she still wanted to build.

All the little things she had taken for granted suddenly seemed precious.

Is this really how it ends?

Then—

BANG!

Except the bar never reached her.

Sabrina looked up in shock.

Jason was standing there.

He had caught the falling bar.

His arms were tense, his muscles straining as he held the heavy weight away from her.

A few beads of sweat appeared along his forehead, but his eyes remained focused.

For several seconds, Sabrina could only stare.

Jason carefully lowered the bar back onto the rack.

Then he immediately turned toward her.

"Sabrina, are you okay?"

His voice was filled with genuine concern.

She opened her mouth.

Nothing came out.

The fear she’d been holding inside suddenly broke apart.

Her eyes filled with tears.

The realization that she had nearly been seriously injured hit her all at once.

And Jason had been there.

He had stopped it.

The system notification appeared.

[Ding! Sabrina’s favorability toward the host has increased by 4 points. Current favorability: 99. Keep up the good work, Host!]

Sabrina didn’t even notice it.

Her emotions overwhelmed her.

A shaky breath escaped her lips.

Then she stepped forward and wrapped her arms around Jason.

"Jason..."

Tears slipped down her cheeks.

Jason froze for half a second before gently placing an arm around her.

"Hey. It’s okay."

He lightly rubbed her back.

"I’m here. You’re safe."

Sabrina buried her face against his chest.

She could feel her heartbeat slowly settling.

For the first time since the accident, she felt safe enough to let herself breathe.

She didn’t want to move.

Not yet.

Across the gym, several people who had witnessed the incident stood frozen.

One man stared so hard that he nearly dropped the dumbbell in his hand.

Another whispered, "Did that really just happen?"

A third shook his head.

"Man... that guy is unbelievable."

The others exchanged helpless looks.

Whatever jealousy they had felt earlier suddenly seemed pointless.

Jason had just saved Sabrina from a serious accident without even hesitating.

Sabrina eventually realized they weren’t alone.

Her cheeks immediately turned bright red.

She could hear people talking nearby, and embarrassment slowly replaced some of the fear.

She lifted her head slightly.

They’re going to think I’m completely shameless.

But the thought didn’t make her pull away immediately.

Because deep down, she didn’t care what they thought.

What mattered was that Jason had been there when she needed him.

And that feeling meant more to her than she wanted to admit.

After a while, she finally stepped back and wiped her cheeks.

Her voice was still shaky.

"Thank you."

Jason looked at her.

"You don’t have to thank me."

"If you hadn’t been there..." She swallowed. "I don’t even want to think about what could have happened."

Jason scratched the back of his head.

"I couldn’t exactly stand there and watch you get hurt."

Sabrina gave him a small, embarrassed smile.

"You were already keeping your distance. I was the one who lost my balance."

She lowered her eyes.

"And somehow, you still managed to save me."

Jason smiled.

"That’s what I’m here for."

Sabrina’s heart gave another little jump.

She quickly looked away.

Why does he have to say things like that?

Jason suddenly opened his arms again and gave her a brief, playful hug.

"Anyway, thank you for trusting me."

Sabrina’s face warmed.

She didn’t push him away.

Instead, she stood quietly against him for another moment, letting the last of her fear fade.

For years, she had learned to rely on herself.

She had raised her daughter.

Worked through difficult relationships.

Handled problems without expecting anyone to rescue her.

But right now, standing beside Jason, she realized how comforting it felt to know that someone would instinctively step forward when she was in danger.

That realization made her heart beat faster.

She slowly pulled away.

"All right," she murmured, wiping beneath her eyes. "No more heavy lifting for me today."

Jason laughed.

"Agreed."

Sabrina took a breath and looked toward the squat rack.

Then she looked back at him.

"Let’s take a break."

Jason nodded.

"Good idea."

She smiled faintly.

But as she walked away, her mind was already replaying the moment.

The sudden fear.

The falling bar.

Jason catching it.

And the way she’d felt completely safe the instant he stepped in.

Sabrina pressed a hand lightly against her chest.

Her heart was still beating faster than normal.

She couldn’t help wondering when exactly Jason had stopped being just a troublesome young client...

and become someone she couldn’t imagine losing.
