Infinite Nightmares
Chapter 255: Attack
When Zhang Wenda looked down, he saw four sharp sickles buried deep in his chest.
He looked up in disbelief at the red, sickle-wielding monster before him, watching as the corners of its mouth curled into a cruel smile.
'It seems there was never any trial from the beginning. Its only purpose in bringing me here was to kill me!'
'It hates me so much that it can't suppress the joy in its eyes at seeing me about to die.'
With a sickening squelch, the sickles were pulled out, and Zhang Wenda instantly felt his life force rapidly draining away.
Almost instinctively, he reached out with his right hand and grabbed the creature's shoulder. As Qi Gong No. 6 activated, the wounds on his body quickly transferred to the monster's chest.
But to Zhang Wenda's complete astonishment, the bloody, mangled wounds flowed like water down his own arm and back onto his body.
Like mirror images, the two figures kicked out at the same time. The impact of their feet let out a sharp crack, and both were sent flying backward.
As the injured Zhang Wenda retreated, a large swarm of Black Cats surged onto his body from behind. The numerous cats distributed the damage he had taken among themselves as they rapidly moved into position, finally forming a suit of intimidating black living armor around him.
What can you do? Song Jianguo got the idea from television, and armor on TV always looks rather flashy.
"What's going on? What are you being attacked by? Why can't I see it?" One of the Black Cats near Zhang Wenda's ear spoke with Song Jianguo's voice. She was among them.
"I don't know! And I'm not sure why it's doing this!" Pulling himself together, Zhang Wenda stared intently at the red monster before him.
"This path is a difficult one. How did your guide handle this situation?" Hu Maomao asked from the side, looking in the direction Zhang Wenda was staring.
"He didn't say a damn thing! He told me to figure it out myself!"
Before Zhang Wenda could even figure out the problem, the creature had already turned into a blur and lunged at him again. He had no choice but to meet the attack.
The sharp sickles slashed toward him, but surprisingly, they failed to pierce Zhang Wenda's black armor.
Song Jianguo was right. After inheriting Tang Xingxiong's abilities, she had indeed become much more powerful. From now on, she could help Zhang Wenda in many more ways.
More importantly, the living armor formed by Song Jianguo and the Black Cats had more than just a defensive function; it also had an automatic counter-attack. When it sensed an attack, the cats forming the armor plates would extend their sharp claws and slash furiously in the direction of the blow.
However, this move was useless against the red creature. The claws extending from the armor to attack passed right through its body.
It was as if for outsiders like Song Jianguo and Hu Maomao, only the red sickle monster's attacks were tangible; the rest of it was ethereal.
Even so, with his outstanding defensive capabilities, Zhang Wenda clearly had a significant advantage. After a few rounds, his bigger concern wasn't getting injured, but how to prevent the damage he dealt from being transferred back to him again.
Now that he was facing a version of himself, Zhang Wenda finally understood just how powerful the ability his uncle had left him truly was. As long as you didn't die, you could transfer your wounds to someone else at any time. It could even be used as a form of attack.
With a CLANG, the sickles slammed violently against each other, letting out a shower of sparks.
Zhang Wenda didn't press the attack. 'If this fight is the red trial, then I should be trying to find a way to solve it.'
'The blue trial was about aggression, so the red trial should correspond to reason.' Thinking this, Zhang Wenda forcefully pushed the creature away and began trying to handle the problem rationally.
"I have no intention of fighting you! State your demands!" Zhang Wenda tried to communicate, but the creature remained silent, continuing its relentless attacks.
Zhang Wenda then stood his ground and quickly extinguished all aggressive emotions in his heart. However, this had no effect either; the creature kept attacking.
If it weren't for Song Jianguo's new ability protecting him completely, he would have been killed the moment he'd just emptied his mind.
Zhang Wenda went on to try other methods, but nothing worked.
"What's going on? I feel pain too, you know!" Song Jianguo complained after taking another hit.
"Don't rush me, let me think. There has to be a way. There must be another way."
But just as Zhang Wenda said this, the sky above suddenly changed.
The Internet World has no night or day, but the sky had just flickered dark for a moment. Immediately after, Zhang Wenda noticed his own thought-clusters starting to bubble up around him.
Hu Maomao immediately spoke up from the side, "Wenda! We have a situation! We've entered the Big Circle Leopard's thought-tide! They're moving this way!"
Glancing again at the red creature before him, Zhang Wenda clenched his jaw. After a quick assessment, he immediately said, "Go! Everyone, go!"
He couldn't let Hu Maomao and Song Jianguo fall into danger because of some so-called red trial.
"Then we need to leave the Big Circle Leopard's thought-tide first! Teleporting isn't allowed inside his thought-tide."
Hearing this, Zhang Wenda turned to leave the sweatshop, but the red creature had no intention of letting him succeed. It constantly blocked his path, attacking frantically.
"I give up on the trial! Do you hear me?! You can scram now!" But no matter what he said, the creature ignored him, its eyes filled only with the killing intent to end Zhang Wenda's life.
"Qianxi! You despicable villain!" A furious roar from the Big Circle Leopard made the entire factory of flesh and blood groan in agony.
Hearing the roar, Zhang Wenda knew they were now very, very close. For all he knew, they might have approached the center of the battle.
'What's more troublesome is that our Big Circle Leopard seems to be at a disadvantage. If we don't leave now, we really won't be able to.'
"Get out of the way! Do you hear me?!" Zhang Wenda had only taken two steps before the creature charged at him again.
"I said, get out of the way!!" As the creature continued to pester him relentlessly, the anger in Zhang Wenda's heart grew stronger and stronger.
But not only did the creature not back down, it stuck to him tighter and tighter, like a stubborn leech.
Seeing the temperature around them begin to rise for some unknown reason, Zhang Wenda finally snapped.
The moment the creature charged at him again, Zhang Wenda directly pulled the Copan Sacrificial Knife from his own chest and plunged it deep into the creature's.
In that instant, the creature finally stopped. At the same time, Zhang Wenda felt an abnormal weakness, as if something had been drained from him.
As Zhang Wenda staggered back a few steps, the creature finally collapsed to the ground.
Then, immediately after, a ball of red light appeared before Zhang Wenda again. "Red?"
'The reward for the blue trial was red, and the reward for the red trial is also red?'
