Infinite Disasters: I Hoarded My Way to Godhood
Chapter 82: Healing Her, the Beast-Controlling Native People
Chapter 82: Chapter 82: Healing Her, the Beast-Controlling Native People
She accepted the precious can of [Odor Disappearing Spray].
Seraphina Sullivan didn’t ask Lily Underwood how she had gotten injured.
The edges of the wound were clean and it was deep enough to see bone. It was clearly made by a sharp blade, not a wild animal’s bite. Ten to one, it was a sneak attack or ambush by another Player.
In the Slaughter Pasture, humans were far more dangerous than their targets.
"Lie down!" Seraphina Sullivan’s tone was firm and allowed no room for argument.
Lily Underwood’s face was ashen from blood loss, her forehead slick with cold sweat. She clenched her jaw and slowly lay flat on the ground as instructed, her body trembling faintly from the pain.
Seraphina Sullivan moved to undo Lily Underwood’s clothes to treat the wound.
Ash, Sean Chandler, and Dustin Sullivan immediately and tactfully turned away. They spread out, backs facing the women, and began to vigilantly scan the dark forest, taking on the role of guards.
Carefully peeling away the blood-soaked fabric, Seraphina Sullivan fully exposed the wound on Lily Underwood’s abdomen.
The wound was even more gruesome than she had imagined, stretching nearly the entire width of her abdomen.
Flesh was peeled back, revealing the faint outline of internal organs. It looked as if a slightly deeper cut would have disemboweled her.
Seraphina Sullivan drew in a sharp breath, a flicker of genuine admiration for Lily Underwood’s resilience lighting within her.
’To be so badly injured and still make it all the way here... this woman’s Willpower is terrifying.’
"Brace yourself. This is going to hurt," Seraphina Sullivan said grimly, quickly focusing her mind.
Lily Underwood gave a pained nod and bit down on a piece of soft wood she had shoved into her mouth.
With a single thought, Seraphina Sullivan activated her [Quick Sewing] Skill.
Invisible threads seemed to converge from the air, coalescing at her fingertip into an Energy Silver Needle that glinted with a cold light.
She then activated [Scorching Hand], concentrating the heat at her fingertip to sterilize the Energy Silver Needle.
’I can’t believe I figured out how to use my newly learned [Scorching Hand] like this.’
’I don’t know if a condensed needle even needs to be sterilized, but it’s best to follow proper procedure.’
Once her preparations were complete, the true Effect of her [Quick Sewing] Skill was revealed!
Seraphina Sullivan’s hands became a blur, her movements too fast for the naked eye to follow.
The Silver Needle flew across Lily Underwood’s wound, stitching it closed as it darted precisely and rapidly through the torn flesh.
THP... THP... An extremely faint piercing sound rang out.
Lily Underwood’s body went rigid. A stifled groan escaped her throat, and the veins on her forehead bulged as she bit down hard on the piece of wood.
Thanks to the Skill’s Effect, the suturing process was far faster than expected.
In less than two minutes, the horrifying wound was temporarily closed by a dense row of stitches. It still looked frightening, but at least it was no longer bleeding profusely.
But that wasn’t enough.
Seraphina Sullivan immediately pulled another item from her Space: the [Universal Syringe].
She quickly adjusted the syringe’s Effects, using three Abilities in succession: [Quick Hemostasis], [Antibacterial Infection], and [Paralysis Pain].
"This might sting a little, hold on," she said, carefully administering the injections into the area around the wound.
First, [Quick Hemostasis] and [Antibacterial Infection] took effect, further stemming the bleeding and preventing infection.
Then, as the [Paralysis Pain] serum was injected, Lily Underwood’s tense body finally began to relax. The intense agony was replaced by a spreading numbness, and a hint of color returned to her pale face.
The emergency procedure, while not a complete cure, had at least pulled Lily Underwood back from the brink of death.
Her breathing was still faint, but it had stabilized considerably and was no longer as tenuous as a thread.
Wiping the beads of sweat from her forehead, Seraphina Sullivan let out a long sigh. "You’ll live, for now. But you need to get proper medical attention as soon as possible. What I did was just first aid."
Lily Underwood blinked weakly, her eyes filled with the relief and gratitude of a survivor. She managed to force out a single word: "...Thanks."
Lily Underwood lay on a makeshift bed. A dull ache still throbbed in her abdomen, but it was a world of difference from the near-death agony she had just experienced.
She watched Seraphina Sullivan packing away her medical supplies, her heart filled with gratitude, but also a secret shock.
’The situation was so urgent before that I didn’t think about it. But now that I’ve calmed down, I realize just how many of her trump cards Seraphina revealed while she was saving me.’
’That Ability to pull items out of thin air... that’s clearly an extremely rare Storage Space!’
’In my opinion,’ Lily thought, ’a Storage Space is a Divine Artifact for surviving the apocalypse!’
’Having one means you have a massive capacity for supplies. It’s a crucial asset for surviving in any extreme environment.’
’Something that valuable would make any Player green with envy, maybe even drive them insane.’
’I, Lily Underwood, am not an ungrateful person. Seraphina Sullivan saved my life. I would never covet my savior’s possessions; in fact, I’ll do everything in my power to protect her.’
’But what about others? That treacherous Harvey Fletcher, for instance. If he found out...’
At this thought, Lily Underwood gritted her teeth against the pain, secretly vowing to recover her strength as quickly as possible.
’I have to protect Seraphina. At least in this dungeon, I can’t let my savior be targeted because she revealed her Abilities.’
’From what I’ve seen, Seraphina’s healing and sewing skills make her seem like a support and logistics Player. She probably has to rely on her teammates for combat.’
The thought of the person who had injured her so severely made Lily Underwood grind her teeth in hatred. An unnatural, angry flush crept across her pale face. "That bastard... I’ll never let him get away with this!"
Just then, hearing that things had quieted down, Dustin Sullivan, Ash, and Sean Chandler walked over.
Seraphina Sullivan looked up at Dustin Sullivan and asked directly, "What happened? How did you all end up in this state?"
Dustin Sullivan’s expression was grim. He didn’t hold back, saying in a low voice, "It was Harvey Fletcher. That bastard somehow found out that after this contest, there are only three spots for temporary workers at the pork slaughterhouse to be promoted to full-time staff!"
He paused, a cold glint in his eyes. "So now he’s gone crazy. He’s not hunting the targets; he’s actively eliminating all the ’potential rivals’ he deems a threat! We let our guard down for a moment and got ambushed by him and his crew. Lily Underwood took the worst of it covering my escape."
After listening, Seraphina Sullivan’s brow furrowed. "Only three spots?"
’This news is definitely a problem.’
Although promotion to a full-time employee was a non-mandatory main quest, the [Random Potion] reward was too tempting for anyone to give up easily.
’With so few spots, the competition will be incredibly fierce. Clashes between Players are now almost inevitable.’
"And there’s more bad news,"
Dustin Sullivan added, his tone even more grave, "Based on what we saw while escaping, an extremely powerful Native People temporary worker has shown up over at the chicken slaughterhouse. The guy seems to have an Ability to Control animals. He can command the mutated creatures in the pasture to attack others! A lot of people have already fallen into his trap."
