Infinite Disasters: I Hoarded My Way to Godhood
Chapter 284: The Aberrant Radiation Dungeon Opens
Chapter 284: Chapter 284: The Aberrant Radiation Dungeon Opens
Animals are becoming Players!
This news struck like a boulder dropped into a calm lake, sending massive shockwaves and deep anxiety through the circles of those in the know.
With no solution yet found for the global disasters, the internal struggle for survival resources among humans was already growing more intense.
And now, they learned that even animals could become "competitors" wielding Extraordinary Power.
This drastically increased the pressure on everyone’s shoulders, making them feel even more lost about the future.
At this moment, Seraphina Sullivan was in her [Scavenger’s Farm] Space. Before her lay a dish that looked, smelled, and tasted exquisite, freshly made using her [Magic Cuisine] Talent.
As she enjoyed her meal, she calmly analyzed the limitations of this powerful Talent.
’This Talent is strong, no doubt—practically Rule Level,’
She scooped up a spoonful of soup, feeling the Energy replenish her body.
’But the consumption is just staggering. If I want to quickly turn an enemy into a meal in the middle of a fight, with my current spiritual power and stamina reserves, I’d probably be completely drained after just a few uses. It can only be a trump card for critical moments, not a standard method of attack.’
As she was enjoying her food and planning how to improve her Abilities in the future, the familiar, cold system notification suddenly echoed in the depths of her mind once more:
[Ding! Seven-day preparation period has ended.]
[Ding! The Disaster Game will now begin.]
[Ding! Player, please select one of the following instances to enter.]
[Aberrant Radiation] or [Giant’s Doom]
The two instance options, shimmering with different lusters and representing unknown dangers, appeared clearly in Seraphina Sullivan’s consciousness.
’[Aberrant Radiation]... If it weren’t for Yana Yates’s forceful intervention last time, this is the instance I would have entered.’
Seraphina Sullivan looked at the option, understanding dawning on her.
’Since I missed it last time, I’ll make up for it now.’
Without much hesitation, Seraphina Sullivan chose the [Aberrant Radiation] instance, simultaneously using her Spirit Link to confirm that Sean Chandler had made the same choice.
The moment she confirmed her selection, a familiar sense of weightlessness and spatial displacement washed over her.
Seraphina Sullivan’s figure vanished from the RV in an instant.
When her vision focused again and she could see her surroundings clearly, she found herself in an unfamiliar place.
It was a spacious warehouse that looked long abandoned, filled with dust and cobwebs.
She quickly scanned her surroundings, her heart sinking slightly.
Sean Chandler, who had also chosen the [Aberrant Radiation] instance, was nowhere to be seen!
Instead, five unfamiliar Players appeared beside her.
’Separated right from the start?’ Seraphina Sullivan realized immediately.
However, she wasn’t too worried.
As long as the instance didn’t suppress her strength like the Death Arena did last time, with her current trump cards and Abilities, an ordinary threat wasn’t enough to make her panic.
Of course, now that she had become a Beloved of the God of Cuisine, the Rule-Level suppression from other Divine Favored was also useless against her.
"Hey! You, the woman over there!" A rather coarse male voice interrupted Seraphina Sullivan’s observations.
She looked up to see a small team of five Players—three men and two women—looking at her.
One of them, a tall and burly man with a scar on his face, was pointing at her rudely.
"Seeing as you’re alone, want to cooperate? We happen to need a scout. Go to the warehouse entrance now and check if it’s dangerous outside. If it’s clear, we can consider letting you temporarily join our team."
His imperious tone didn’t sound like a negotiation at all; it was more like giving an order.
Seraphina Sullivan sneered inwardly, instantly understanding their intentions.
These five were clearly an established team.
The fact that they could enter the instance together most likely meant they had used an item like the [Team Formation Card] that Dexter Luther had once mentioned.
’Looks like I need to find a way to get one of those items that ensures we can enter as a team,’ Seraphina Sullivan mentally noted.
Her and Sean Chandler appearing in the same area before seemed to have been more a matter of luck.
Most of the time, they would probably be separated, just like now.
Her gaze swept calmly over the five-person team as she silently activated her [Eye of Resume], quickly gathering their basic information.
Their Talents were mostly unremarkable.
Furthermore, from their flickering eyes filled with calculation and contempt, Seraphina Sullivan knew very well that their so-called "cooperation" and "joining the team" was purely a pretense.
Their real goal was to use her, a solo Player, as cannon fodder to scout ahead and test the risks outside.
Seraphina Sullivan couldn’t even be bothered to feign compliance.
She directly ignored the man’s words, turned, and walked toward the other side of the warehouse, beginning to investigate the unfamiliar environment on her own.
Her attitude was clear and cold.
They walked different paths and had nothing to discuss.
Seeing Seraphina Sullivan’s reaction, the fake smiles on the faces of the five-person team gradually faded. The hostility in their eyes became more blatant, and the atmosphere in the warehouse instantly grew tense and confrontational.
Seraphina Sullivan quickly scanned the area, confirming that as far as she could see, there were only unfamiliar faces and no one she recognized.
Since there were no acquaintances present, she didn’t plan on hiding too much of her strength.
The face she currently wore was a new one, altered by her [Transformation Ring].
It was a face that wouldn’t stand out in a crowd, but her eyes and brows carried a natural, chilling, and murderous air.
Seraphina Sullivan deliberately chose not to restrain the Aura she had developed from numerous life-and-death battles.
Standing there, she was like a half-drawn blade; though not fully revealed, she already exuded a dangerous "stay away" Aura.
The opposing team’s leader, the burly man named Samson Sharp, was about to say something to pressure Seraphina Sullivan.
However, his passive [Dangerous Intuition] Talent suddenly blared a sharp warning!
An ice-cold chill shot up his spine and straight to the top of his head.
A blurry yet incredibly impactful image flashed through his mind.
If he insisted on provoking this woman, the only outcome would be death!
He wouldn’t even be able to put up a decent fight!
Samson Sharp’s expression changed, and beads of cold sweat instantly broke out on his forehead.
He almost instinctively raised his hand, stopping the threat that his teammate, Larry Olsen, was about to blurt out.
Forcing himself to look calm, he deliberately raised his voice in Seraphina Sullivan’s direction and said, "Forget it. Since she doesn’t want to join our team, we shouldn’t force her. Hmph, I didn’t want to take on some dead weight with an unknown background anyway."
His words seemed directed at Seraphina Sullivan, but they were actually for his teammates, giving himself a way to save face.
After speaking, Samson Sharp didn’t wait for his team to react. He gave them a stern look, leading the four of them—their faces full of confusion and a hint of resentment—to quickly retreat to the other side of the warehouse, deliberately putting a significant distance between themselves and Seraphina Sullivan.
Only when they had retreated to a corner he deemed safe did the slender teammate named Larry Olsen finally complain in a hushed voice, "Boss, what was that just now? There are so many of us. Even if that woman looks a little tough, you think the five of us together can’t take care of her?"
