Infinite Disasters: I Hoarded My Way to Godhood
Chapter 244: The Kill and Ambition
Chapter 244: Chapter 244: The Kill and Ambition
The Lizardman was reeling from Sean Chandler’s attack.
He was sent stumbling backward.
The blade-scales only scraped shallow white marks on the giant bear’s thick fur and tough skin.
As if to intensify the Lizardman’s despair, three pillars of light once again descended from the sky on cue!
Two blinding, blood-red pillars of light descended. One enveloped the battered Lizardman, while the other fell upon the frenzied black bear.
Hunter!
They were both in the Hunter faction.
The Lizardman froze.
Then, as if grasping at straws, he desperately shouted, "Friend! Stop! We’re both Hunters! The rules don’t allow us to kill each other!"
However, the giant bear—Sean Chandler—didn’t pause for a second. Seizing the opening created by the Lizardman’s distracted shouting, a massive paw shot out and clamped down on his body. The immense Power made it impossible for him to break free.
Sean Chandler’s low voice carried an icy killing intent:
"Rules? I can’t kill you... but that doesn’t mean someone else can’t!"
Before the words had faded, the muscles on his arms bulged.
He lifted the helpless Lizardman into the air, precisely aiming its exposed head and neck in a specific direction.
Seraphina Sullivan, who had been lying in ambush, shot down from her hiding spot in a large tree like a patient cheetah finally pouncing on its prey!
The ten-times Power and speed bonus from [Dreadful Upright Ape]!
The Ability granted by The Rabbit card—[Fierce Kick]!
Activated at full Power!
Her falling body and leg strength combined perfectly, focusing all her power, speed, and gravitational potential energy into a single, straightforward kick.
She shot down like a cannonball, striking the Lizardman’s unprotected head with perfect precision!
"SPLAT—!"
It was like a ripe watermelon being smashed.
The Lizardman didn’t even have time to react. Only in its final moment of consciousness did it finally understand.
’These two, the powerful Hunter and that weak rabbit, were on the same goddamn team.’
’So despicable. To think they could even do that.’
Filled with endless regret, its head instantly exploded under Seraphina Sullivan’s foot, red and white matter splashing everywhere.
The headless corpse was casually thrown to the ground by Sean Chandler. It twitched twice, then fell silent.
After confirming the Lizardman was completely dead, Seraphina Sullivan finally let out a long sigh of relief.
She turned her gaze to Sean Chandler, who had reverted to his human form.
But her eyes conveyed a clear message.
’That [Beast of Burden’s Guise] Title of yours is practically in its element in this dungeon.’
Recalling her return from the Junkheap Ruins, she had been quite pleased with the [Dreadful Upright Ape] Title she had obtained, thinking its Effect was powerful.
But now, it seemed Sean Chandler’s seemingly plain and even self-deprecating Title had an immeasurable strategic value in certain specific environments!
’As expected, the luck of a King of Fortune is nothing I can compare to...’ Seraphina Sullivan lamented silently to herself.
From the few words spoken by the whip-wielding man earlier, she had learned something.
This Slaughter Game was being broadcast live to the outside world.
Therefore, she couldn’t have any verbal communication with Sean Chandler that might expose their identities as Players or their plans.
However, thanks to the Control of the [Spirit Mutation Spider Silk], Sean Chandler could almost instantly understand the intent conveyed by Seraphina Sullivan’s eyes and subtle expressions.
With Sean Chandler by her side, Seraphina Sullivan’s perpetually tense nerves relaxed slightly.
The Rule Dungeon had stripped her of almost everything she relied on.
The powerlessness of losing her Talent and Skills made Seraphina Sullivan feel extremely panicked.
But now, with Sean Chandler at his full combat strength as her backup, the pressure to survive was greatly reduced, and she had the confidence to plan her next move.
’I don’t know how long this Slaughter Game will last. We have to find a way to take out the one who started it all.’
Seraphina Sullivan conveyed this determined thought to Sean Chandler with her eyes.
She hadn’t forgotten that she had Yana Yates to thank for the wretched situation she was in.
’I must have my revenge!’
...
Just as Seraphina Sullivan and Sean Chandler regrouped and established their initial objective, a cold, electronic announcement once again echoed across the sky:
[Slaughter Game Live Report: 667 Tributes have died! Current survivors: 333!]
[To increase the entertainment value of the game, the "Ten-Minute Location Reveal" function is now active!]
Several pillars of light, indicating factions, fell in response, causing new commotion and slaughter throughout the forest.
Near one of these pillars of light, Yana Yates’s battered figure flickered into view.
He had just used his [Space Exchange] Talent to narrowly swap places with a Minotaur Tribute that had a Frenzy Aura, dodging the enemy’s fatal blow.
"Damn it! Damn it all!"
Yana Yates leaned against a large tree, panting heavily.
His face was a mask of anger and lingering fear.
’What the hell is with this Rule Dungeon?! The suppression of Player Abilities is so complete! I’m a Level 5 Player, but in here, I’m just like a Player who just entered their first dungeon. If my Level wasn’t high enough, I probably wouldn’t have even been able to keep a single Talent!’
He desperately missed his powerful Beloved.
’If Evan were still here, would I be in such a pathetic state?’
Thinking of the loss of Evan, his hatred for the unknown Player who had ruined his plans in the Junkheap Ruins intensified.
’Players below Level 5 are basically lambs to the slaughter here... but I can’t get careless.’
Yana Yates’s eyes turned sinister. ’If I run into one of those Tributes who got lucky and kept some troublesome Ability, or one like that minotaur with a powerful physical body, I could really screw up if I’m not careful!’
He took a deep breath, suppressed his agitation, and began to analyze the situation calmly again:
’However, as long as I’m careful enough, with the mobility of [Space Exchange] and my Level 5 combat experience, it shouldn’t be a problem to find and eliminate all the Players dragged into this dungeon one by one. But I have to be wary of this special dungeon. I have a feeling it’s not that simple.’
At this thought, Yana Yates regained some of his confidence.
After all, he was a Level 5 Player who had survived countless life-or-death trials. His experience and mentality were far beyond what lower-level Players could compare to.
At the same time, a greater ambition began to grow in his heart.
’And then there’s this Death Arena itself... a Rule Dungeon capable of forcibly suppressing the system’s authority must involve an extremely high level of power. It’s even possible the rules of some Divine being are at work here...’
He recalled the world-destroying Corrosive Slime King from the Junkheap Ruins, that Pollution God’s Favored.
A flicker of fanaticism flashed in Yana Yates’s eyes.
’If, in this dungeon, I could find a way to contact, or even become, a Divine Favored...’
Yana Yates’s heart began to pound.
Having witnessed the terrifying, almost rule-bending power of a Divine Favored, Yana Yates deeply understood just how insignificant an individual’s strength was before a Divine being.
If he could wield Divine Power, perhaps he could not only break free from the system’s Binding, but even... take control of his own destiny, and maybe even influence the real world!
This thought spread through Yana Yates’s mind like wildfire.
