Infinite Disasters: I Hoarded My Way to Godhood
Chapter 235: Incident in the Safe Zone
Chapter 235: Chapter 235: Incident in the Safe Zone
Inside the Vorlag City safe zone.
Forrest Sterling, who had been waiting anxiously, suddenly jolted. The Energy Carrier Pigeon he had dispatched had returned, transmitting Aaron Webb’s message directly into his mind.
"Brother! He’s alive! Aaron Webb is still alive!"
Forrest Sterling grabbed his brother’s arm, his voice filled with elation as he shouted.
"His Talent saved him! He also said there might be other survivors there!"
Upon hearing this, a sharp glint flashed in River Sterling’s eyes. He quickly calmed himself and said, "This is crucial information! Report the situation to Captain Justin Brooks immediately! With your and Aaron Webb’s Abilities—one to transmit information over any distance and the other to travel safely underground—you could be the key to a military-coordinated operation to rescue any potential survivors in Kaelen!"
"Right! Right!" Forrest Sterling nodded emphatically, without a hint of hesitation.
"Let’s get to the command center! We have to launch a rescue mission as soon as possible!"
Without further delay, the two brothers sprinted toward the safe zone’s command center.
Aaron Webb’s survival was like a ray of dawn piercing through the clouds of despair. It brought not only the joy of a friend’s return but also a sliver of hope for a rescue in a hopeless situation.
Seraphina Sullivan had originally planned to find Dexter Luther.
She wanted to learn about the safe zone’s specific defensive deployments against the Rabbitfiend threat.
However, she had just stepped out of her RV and hadn’t even had a chance to get her bearings when a loud argument and sounds of fighting caught her attention.
In a nearby open area, two groups of people were facing off, the tense atmosphere ready to explode.
"You people live in RVs with plenty of food and water! You’re so much more comfortable than us crammed into tents! Everyone’s struggling right now, so you should share your supplies!"
A haggard-looking man shouted, waving his arms frantically.
Across from him, a burly man who looked like the RV’s owner shot back, refusing to yield, "Bullshit! We have food because we spent our own money to stock up before the apocalypse, and we fought like hell to protect it after! Why should we just hand it over to you? If you’ve got the guts, go find your own!"
"What are you wasting your breath talking to them for?! Just take it!"
Someone in the crowd yelled, lighting the fuse.
Instantly, the scene descended into chaos!
The two groups immediately started brawling. Fists and feet flew as a cacophony of curses, pained cries, and the sound of things being knocked over filled the air.
Evidently, with the safe zone on high alert due to the incident in Kaelen, management forces were spread thin, giving some opportunistic individuals a chance to take advantage of the chaos.
Amid the chaos, a few people with shifty eyes noticed Seraphina Sullivan, who had just stepped out of her RV.
Seraphina Sullivan’s appearance was quite deceptive.
She looked like an easy target, which was one of the reasons she used the [Transformation Ring] to change her appearance as soon as she entered the apocalyptic dungeon.
And now, in the eyes of these opportunists, Seraphina Sullivan was alone and looked young, immediately branding her an easy mark—a "fat sheep" ripe for the picking.
A greedy look appeared on one man’s face.
Without a word, he charged straight at Seraphina Sullivan, reaching out as if to grab her.
Watching the man rush toward her, Seraphina Sullivan felt a wave of nameless irritation.
She was already feeling down because of the news about the Rabbitfiends, and now she had to deal with this crap.
Faced with his clumsy lunge, Seraphina Sullivan couldn’t even be bothered to use a Skill. She just lifted her foot in a seemingly casual motion and brought it down precisely on his.
"CRACK!"
A crisp crack of bone, sharp enough to set one’s teeth on edge, echoed clearly!
"AHHH—!! My foot!!"
The man who had charged her let out a bloodcurdling scream, clutching his foot as he collapsed to the ground, howling in agony.
The sudden turn of events, along with the distinct crack of bone and the horrifying scream, instantly stunned the entire crowd!
The brawling mob involuntarily stopped.
Everyone turned in unison to stare at Seraphina Sullivan, their eyes filled with horror.
They looked from the man writhing on the ground to Seraphina Sullivan, whose expression was so calm it was as if she’d just kicked a small pebble aside. Their eyes were filled with disbelief.
Under the crowd’s terrified gaze, Seraphina Sullivan walked forward expressionlessly, grabbed the screaming man’s hair, and spoke in a flat voice that carried an undeniable, menacing weight:
"You all can keep fighting. I’ll handle my business. We don’t interfere with each other."
Just then, a woman—dressed far more glamorously than anyone else around and even wearing light makeup—rushed over screaming, pointed a finger in Seraphina Sullivan’s face, and began to curse her out:
"Stop! You bitch! Let go of my husband! Do you have any idea who my father is? If you dare touch us, I’ll make sure you can’t survive in this safe zone!"
Seraphina Sullivan cleaned out her ear, the irritation inside her growing stronger.
’It’s just one piece of bad news after another, and now some clueless idiot like this shows up to make things worse.’
Moreover, she vaguely felt a familiar, heavy ache in her lower abdomen, and her heart skipped a beat.
’No way... Don’t tell me my period is coming?’ she muttered to herself.
’No wonder I’m so cranky today, with such a short fuse. Normally, I wouldn’t even bother dealing with small fry like this myself. I’d just let Sean Chandler handle them.’
Watching the woman who was still babbling on, trying to intimidate her with the "my father" card, Seraphina Sullivan’s gaze turned cold.
"Are you out of your minds?"
Seraphina Sullivan looked at the shrieking woman.
The woman froze, clearly not expecting Seraphina Sullivan to be so blunt.
Her anger flared. "What do you mean by that?!"
"I mean,"
Seraphina Sullivan let go of the man’s hair, leaving him to continue wailing on the ground.
Her cold gaze swept over all the troublemakers present.
"The flyers with the safe zone’s rules state that troublemaking is forbidden, and serious offenders will be expelled. Are you blind and didn’t see them, or do you just think the rules don’t apply to you?"
Her voice wasn’t loud, but it reached every person’s ears clearly.
It carried an invisible pressure.
Some of the troublemakers’ eyes began to shift, and they subconsciously took half a step back.
Just then, the sound of hurried footsteps approached.
Dexter Luther arrived on the scene in a hurry with several security team members.
They had clearly been drawn over by the commotion.
"What’s going on here? Everyone stop!"
Dexter Luther shouted, his eyes quickly scanning the scene before landing on the composed Seraphina Sullivan and the screaming man on the ground.
As soon as the woman saw Dexter Luther in his uniform—clearly a man in charge—she acted as if she’d found her savior. She threw herself forward, crying and sniffling, and pointed at Seraphina Sullivan.
"Your Honor! You must serve us justice! It was this woman! She assaulted someone in the safe zone! Look, she broke my husband’s foot! You have to arrest her and kick her out! And give us their RV and all their supplies as compensation for his medical bills!"
"’Y-Your Honor?’" Dexter Luther was so dumbfounded by the archaic address that his lips twitched, and he almost lost his composure.
