Chapter 231: Chapter 231: Building an Igloo, Negotiating a Trade for the Growth Potatoes Tree

Inside the Scavenger’s Farm, Chubbs had been itching for a chance to use his Ability, and now he was raring to go.

Chubbs strutted forward, head held high, and vigorously flapped his metal wings, which produced a series of loud "CLANGS".

"Bawk bawk! Master, leave the task of making snow bricks to me! Behold my newly developed ultimate move—Steel—Wings!"

With that, Chubbs abruptly spread his wings.

The edges of his already Metalized wings seemed to grow even sharper.

He became like a spinning wheel of blades, charging into a snowdrift with his wings vibrating and slicing at high speed!

"SWISH SWISH SWISH—!"

Amidst a flurry of snowflakes, perfectly uniform snow bricks with neat edges were precisely carved out.

They were stacked neatly to the side with astounding efficiency!

Seraphina watched, dumbfounded. The corner of her mouth twitched as she mentally screamed:

’Steel Wings?! That name... Chubbs, what in the world have you been watching in the Space?!’

Seeing her husband stealing the spotlight, Tubbs wasn’t about to be outdone.

She hopped over to Seraphina and eagerly declared, "Bawk bawk! Master! I can help too! I also learned a move, it’s called Jet Flame! I can melt the snow bricks just a little to make them stick together better!"

As she spoke, she took a deep breath.

The flames on her head and tail flared up instantly.

Her belly visibly swelled, and a faint red glow flickered in her throat.

"Stop! Stop right now!"

Terrified, Seraphina quickly stopped her, not knowing whether to laugh or cry.

"You little menace! We’re building an igloo, not a lava cave! If you use your flames, the igloo will just melt into water!"

She facepalmed in resignation and turned to look at Flora, who was trying to sneak away.

She grabbed it and pulled it back, narrowing her eyes. "Flora, come clean. What kind of ’educational materials’ have you all been watching in the Space when I’m not around?"

First Steel Wings, now Jet Flame... the naming style was a dead ringer for the moves in a certain monster-catching franchise!

Flora hung its large head, its vines twisting left and right, clearly trying to squirm its way out of the question.

Seraphina looked at Tubbs, who was still pouting and eager to show off her "Jet Flame," and sighed inwardly again. ’Your name might be Flame Chicken, but you’re a bird mutated by a Genetic Potion. You’re not the same as those fire-breathing Pokémon!’

For a moment, the farm Space was in a state of lively chaos.

But for all their fooling around, everyone was extremely efficient.

With the continuous output of Chubbs’s "Steel Wings," the snow bricks needed for the igloo were soon piled high, ready to go.

The subsequent construction work was handed over to the Silenti, who were much better at delicate, coordinated tasks.

Under Moe’s command, the Silenti that could fly at low altitudes were like a team of natural-born builders.

They deftly transported the snow bricks, beginning to build in an orderly fashion according to the dome structure Seraphina had roughly planned out.

They coordinated with each other, stacking and compacting the bricks one by one, filling and smoothing the gaps with crushed snow. Their movements were so skilled they seemed professionally trained.

Soon, the massive, dome-shaped shell of an igloo rose from the ground in the newly expanded area of the farm Space. Its interior was spacious enough to store a large quantity of frozen supplies.

Seraphina clapped her hands together.

"Alright, next we just need to partition the inside of the igloo and store the supplies that need to be frozen."

Just as Seraphina was looking at the nearly completed igloo with satisfaction, preparing to move the night-monster corpses inside...

"KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK!"

A knock on the door came from outside the Space.

Seraphina’s expression hardened. She immediately focused her mind and returned to the RV in an instant.

She composed herself and reached out to open the RV door.

Outside stood Sean Chandler, who had just returned from the trading area. Behind him were two familiar faces.

It was Justin Brooks and Philip Jensen, dressed in military uniforms.

"Miss Sullivan, we meet again!"

Justin Brooks was the first to speak, his face as composed as ever, but his eyes seemed to hold a hint of urgency.

Seraphina was puzzled, wondering why these two military officials had come directly to her RV.

She cast a questioning glance at Sean Chandler.

Sean Chandler understood and quickly explained in a low voice.

"Captain Brooks saw the Growth Potatoes I was preparing to trade in the trading area and was very interested in their Effect."

"He wanted to trade on behalf of the safe zone, but I told him my stock was limited and that I needed your final approval, so we came over together."

Hearing it was a trade concerning the Growth Potatoes, Seraphina relaxed slightly.

She looked at Justin Brooks, waiting to hear what he had to say.

Justin Brooks didn’t beat around the bush and stated his purpose directly.

"Miss Sullivan, Mr. Chandler showed us that special food called ’Growth Potatoes’ earlier and mentioned that eating just a tiny amount can produce a strong feeling of fullness."

"To be honest with you, one of the biggest challenges the Vorlag City safe zone is currently facing is the food supply. The official reserves and the supplies Players bring back from dungeons are just a drop in the bucket for our massive survivor population. We urgently need to find a food source that can be produced sustainably and satisfy hunger efficiently."

Philip Jensen, standing beside him, added.

"We were thinking that if we could obtain some Growth Potatoes and try to cultivate them in a controlled environment within the safe zone, it might be a breakthrough in solving the food crisis. We heard from Mr. Chandler that he still had some, so we took the liberty of coming here, hoping to trade with you for research and trial planting."

After listening, Seraphina understood the situation.

The safe zone had taken in a large population, and the pressure on their food supply was indeed immense.

Although her primary considerations were her own safety and development, she also understood the principle that "if the nest is overturned, no egg remains unbroken."

Having a stable and relatively safe rearguard was just as important for her.

Military officials like Justin Brooks and Philip Jensen, who cared about the ordinary survivors, were the key to maintaining the stability of that "rearguard."

Besides, she had plenty of the Growth Potatoes Trees she’d stockpiled from the [Animal Slaughterhouse] planted in her Scavenger’s Farm. They were growing vigorously, and her inventory was full.

Trading away one complete plant wouldn’t affect her much.

She could also gain the military’s goodwill, possibly some rare items, and contribute to the stability of the safe zone. It was a deal that could kill multiple birds with one stone.

"Alright!"

Seraphina didn’t hesitate, nodding decisively in agreement. "I can trade them to you."

Justin Brooks’s face instantly filled with unconcealable joy and gratitude.

"That’s wonderful! Miss Sullivan, Mr. Chandler, please rest assured, we will not let you take a loss! We will conduct an equivalent exchange using special materials or items the military has collected!"

However, just as both sides were about to finalize the details of the trade...

A young soldier came sprinting from a distance, panting heavily. His face was filled with unprecedented panic, and his anxious voice carried over before he even arrived.
