Chapter 22: Chapter 22: Bombs, Weapon Deal

Nicholas Jensen had a very bad feeling.

"W-Wait... What do you mean?"

"What I mean is..." Seraphina Sullivan’s Silver Needle slowly pressed against his throat.

Her smile grew wider, her expression perfectly amiable.

"I saved your life, which basically means you belong to me. Now, either you give me the weapons immediately, or..."

Seraphina Sullivan applied a little pressure with her wrist. The tip of the needle pierced Nicholas Jensen’s skin, drawing a bead of blood. "I’ll just have to take that life back, you see?"

Nicholas Jensen: "..."

On the verge of tears, he looked at the girl before him who smiled like an Angel but struck like a Demon.

Finally, resigning himself to his fate, he closed his eyes. "I... I suddenly remembered... I think I can squeeze out the Energy for one more weapon..."

Satisfied, Seraphina Sullivan retracted the Silver Needle. "Now that’s more like it."

Nicholas Jensen wailed internally, ’This isn’t a savior, she’s a damn robber!’

Nicholas Jensen sighed helplessly, resigned to fulfilling his promise.

He struggled to lift the arm he could still move slightly and pulled a small cloth pouch from inside his clothes. It made a RATTLE-RATTLE sound as plastic pieces knocked together inside.

"Here, for you..." He passed the bag over weakly.

Seraphina Sullivan took the bag, deliberately putting on a confused expression.

’I can’t let on that I already know about his Talent, so I have to act confused about him pulling out a bag of toys.’

She opened it and saw it was filled with all sorts of miniature toy bombs.

There were finger-sized model grenades, matchbox-sized C4 explosive toys, and even a few demolition devices shaped like candy.

"Are you kidding me, pulling out these toys?"

She feigned anger, her eyebrows shooting up. "I asked for the real deal! And you give me toys?"

Nicholas Jensen waved his hand weakly. "Miss, don’t be hasty..."

As he spoke, he took a deep breath, and a faint blue light began to glow from his pale fingertips.

He picked up a plastic model grenade and gently closed his hand around it.

A flash of blue light, and a heavy, real grenade appeared in his hand!

Seraphina Sullivan’s eyes lit up, but she quickly put on a stern face again. "Just one?"

Nicholas Jensen shook his head with a bitter smile and continued to use his Talent.

As the blue light flickered continuously, one explosive after another was materialized.

"HUFF... HUFF..."

By the time the twentieth explosive was materialized, Nicholas Jensen was covered in sweat. His face was paler than paper, and he looked as if he’d just been fished out of water.

Nicholas Jensen: ’I feel completely drained!!!’

Without a word, Seraphina Sullivan deftly packed all the weapons into her backpack, though in reality, she had secretly transferred them to her Space.

She satisfyingly hefted the backpack and looked at the miserable-looking Nicholas Jensen. "Wouldn’t it have been easier if you’d just been this cooperative from the start?"

Nicholas Jensen weakly rolled his eyes. "You... you’re taking advantage of my predicament..."

Seraphina Sullivan beamed at Nicholas Jensen, her tone cheerful. "’Taking advantage of your predicament?’ Hey now, I saved your sorry hide. These weapons are the payment I’m owed."

Nicholas Jensen: ’Sorry hide? Are you even listening to yourself? Do you even sound human?’

Seraphina Sullivan patted her backpack, brushed off her clothes, and then said, "Well, since our deal is done, I should get going. Because of you, I haven’t found much of anything useful today. What a waste of time."

Nicholas Jensen’s eyes suddenly widened. He stared in disbelief at Seraphina Sullivan’s back as she turned to leave.

He panicked. "Wait! No! How can you just leave like this?!"

Seraphina Sullivan stopped and turned back, looking at the frantic Nicholas Jensen with a puzzled expression. "Why can’t I leave?"

"Didn’t you say you were going to save me?" Nicholas Jensen struggled to sit up, but his body was paralyzed and wouldn’t move. He could only shout anxiously, "We made a deal! How can you just abandon me and leave!"

Seraphina Sullivan looked at him as if he were an idiot. "Buddy, our transaction is complete. I saved you, you gave me weapons. We’re even now. Why can’t I leave?"

She counted on her fingers. "Not only did I save you, but I also stopped the bleeding, stitched your wounds, and prevented infection. What more do you want?"

Nicholas Jensen was speechless for a moment, but then he argued resentfully, "But... but shouldn’t that mean ensuring I survive this instance? If you leave now while I can’t move, what happens if a monster comes?"

"Huh?" Seraphina Sullivan exaggeratedly cleaned out her ear with an incredulous look. "Pretty boy, you’ve got a lot of nerve! You want me to protect you forever?"

Seraphina Sullivan rolled her eyes. "I’m just a passerby, not your bodyguard."

Nicholas Jensen was so anxious that his forehead broke out in a sweat. "But... but..."

"No ’buts’," Seraphina Sullivan waved her hand dismissively and turned to leave again. "I suggest you get some rest while the paralysis Effect hasn’t worn off. Once you can move, find a place to hide. Bye-bye~"

"Wait!"

Nicholas Jensen gritted his teeth.

"I... I can keep giving you weapons! More and better ones! Just protect me until I can move again. And, of course, give me some food."

In fact, Nicholas Jensen could feel his body recovering quickly, thanks to the system-rewarded Body Transformation Pills he had taken.

Not only was his physical constitution enhanced, but his Recovery Power had also become much faster.

The only downside was that he was hungry. Extremely hungry!

Seraphina Sullivan’s footsteps halted.

She turned around slowly, her expression unchanged, but inwardly, she was blooming with joy.

"Oh? What kind of weapons can you provide?"

"As long as it’s a toy, and not too big or unusual, I can materialize it."

After speaking, Nicholas Jensen hurriedly added, "You saw it yourself. My Talent is powerful, but it has a daily usage limit. Those bombs just now used up all my Energy for today. If you want more weapons, you’ll have to wait until tomorrow at least. So... you’ll have to protect me until then."

Seraphina Sullivan’s brow furrowed, her mind a battlefield of conflicting thoughts.

She really did want more weapons.

Firearms were basically life-saving Divine Artifacts in a Doomsday Game instance.

But dragging along a temporarily paralyzed liability would make survival exponentially more difficult.

More importantly, the crane’s operator cab was her secret base. It was a small, hidden space—a safe house she had carefully set up. She absolutely could not expose it to this stranger she had just met.

"Hmm..." Seraphina Sullivan’s eyes flickered with uncertainty.

’I admit I’m very selfish.’

’But so what?’

’In this man-eating Doomsday Game, being a bleeding-heart saint will only get you killed faster.’

’I absolutely cannot put myself in danger because of a moment of weakness.’

"I can agree to protect you until tomorrow," Seraphina Sullivan said slowly, "but there are a few conditions."

Nicholas Jensen’s eyes lit up. "Name them!"

"I will only protect you until tomorrow morning. At that time, regardless of whether you’ve recovered or not, you must give me the promised weapons."

"Deal!"

Seeing how quickly he agreed, and afraid he might try something, Seraphina Sullivan placed her Silver Needle against Nicholas Jensen’s neck. "If you dare pull any tricks, I’ll make you suffer a death far worse than being caught by a parasitic monster."
