Infinite Disasters: I Hoarded My Way to Godhood
Chapter 210: Flamboyant Biker Gang! Guitar Sound Wave Six Forms
Chapter 210: Chapter 210: Flamboyant Biker Gang! Guitar Sound Wave Six Forms
Seraphina Sullivan ran into a problem.
Trying to cross the complex terrain, surrounded by mountains of trash, solely on her own two feet would be appallingly inefficient.
She used her [Bounce] Skill to leap across the more stable trash heaps, but she had to test each step carefully to avoid sinking into soft refuse or triggering an unnecessary landslide.
’Is there really no faster way to get there? When will this ever end?’
Seraphina grumbled inwardly as she ran and jumped.
A distance of over one hundred kilometers would have been nothing to her on a flat highway. She could have just found some form of transportation.
But here, surrounded by nothing but trash, it was utter torture.
The seven-day survival window seemed ample, but if most of that time was spent on the road, how could she even think about completing her mission or exploring the instance?
And just as Seraphina was fretting over her travel efficiency, wondering if there was a faster method of transportation...
VRROOOM—VRMM VRMMMM—!!
The chaotic, wild roar of engines grew louder, approaching from the distance.
Seraphina immediately stopped and looked toward the source of the sound.
In the distance, a cloud of dust billowed into the air.
Then, a motorcycle convoy entered her line of sight.
Several motorcycles, their frames clearly modified to look wild and menacing, appeared in her field of vision!
They let out a roaring clamor, bouncing and speeding over the rugged, uneven surface of the trash as they rapidly approached her.
Seraphina’s guard went up.
In a place like this, anyone who could operate a vehicle was no ordinary survivor.
She immediately recalled what Graham Gallo had said about the [Scavenger Thugs].
Judging by their arrival and the brazen racket they were making, this group in front of her perfectly fit the description of "thugs."
However, when the convoy drew near enough for her to make out the riders’ attire, even Seraphina, who was well-traveled and had experienced multiple apocalyptic instances, couldn’t help but be dumbfounded by what she saw.
’This... What in the world is this aesthetic?’
The riders’ hairstyles were a veritable explosion of competing colors and styles.
Some were dyed fluorescent green.
Some sported sky-high mohawks in a shade of ’death-by-Barbie’ pink.
Some had waist-length hair that cascaded down like a rainbow waterfall.
There were even mohawks with shaved sides, the middle strip sculpted with gel into an array of sharp spikes.
Others had unidentifiable metal parts woven directly into their hair.
If you didn’t know any better, you might think a family of glam-rock fanatics was out on a group shopping trip.
Their outfits were even more visually shocking.
Tattered black leather jackets were covered in gleaming studs and sharp metal chains.
Some were even adorned with small, dangling skulls.
They wore heavily worn jeans or leather pants, their legs similarly covered in metal ornaments.
On their faces, they wore special masks smeared with bizarre patterns of greasepaint.
The motorcycles they rode were just as ridiculously modified.
Exhaust pipes were as thick as cannons, and the frames were welded with all sorts of useless metal spikes and plates, all covered in wild, chaotic graffiti.
The corner of Seraphina’s mouth couldn’t help but twitch.
’Holy hell... This is some kind of goth, heavy metal, alternative, wild-wastelander mashup!’
Rather than ferocious, the group’s getup was more... absurd.
They didn’t look like they were trying to survive the apocalypse; they looked like they were on their way to a concert.
Seraphina had this thought because she noticed some of them carrying unique, modified guitars that doubled as weapons.
Soon, the modified motorcycles executed a clean fishtail stop in front of Seraphina.
They happened to form a loose semi-circle around her.
The engines didn’t cut out, their low growl creating an invisible sense of pressure.
Seraphina remained vigilant.
With such a flamboyant and wild aesthetic, they hardly looked like law-abiding citizens; she had no choice but to be wary.
However, what happened next took Seraphina by surprise.
Reality is often stranger than fiction, and you really can’t judge a person’s character by their appearance.
The leader of the eccentric-looking bikers was a tall woman.
With one foot on the ground and one hand on the handlebars, she casually took off her goggles with her other hand.
She wore a special air-filtering mask.
She sized Seraphina up and down.
Her gaze lingered on Seraphina’s dusty Parasitic Windbreaker and Anti-Poison Mask.
A smile touched her lips, and she was the first to speak, her voice frank and hearty over the roar of the engines.
"Hey! Never thought I’d run into someone all alone in this godforsaken dump. Lucky you! So, where you headed... little bro?"
She paused, a hint of teasing in her voice.
"Those bastards from the Badland Brutes never travel alone. They swarm like flies on rotting meat. You don’t look like one of them."
The moment she spoke, the logic in her words and her clear disdain for the "Badland Brutes" immediately put Seraphina a little more at ease.
Seeing that the woman had no immediate intention of attacking, Seraphina remained calm and replied, "I’m on my way to the Forest of Verdure to take the Purification Envoy assessment."
She chose to reveal part of her true purpose, partly as a test and partly in hopes of gathering information.
Unexpectedly, the moment she finished speaking, the eccentric bikers across from her erupted in low cheers and whistles.
"Whoa!"
"Alright!"
"A kindred spirit!"
The female leader burst out laughing, slapping her motorcycle seat. "Hahaha! Can’t believe we picked up another person heading to the assessment on the way! What a pleasant surprise! It must be fate!"
After her laughter died down, she looked at Seraphina, her tone growing more serious. "But listen, friend, it’s a long way from here to the Forest of Verdure. It’ll take you forever on those two legs of yours. The terrain in this hellhole is awful, and it’s full of dangers. So how about it? If you don’t mind, I can give you a lift."
Nelly Nash’s eyes visibly brightened when she heard Seraphina’s voice and confirmed she was a woman.
Of course, she didn’t think for a second that someone who could survive alone in this treacherous, trash-filled wilderness and was aiming for the Purification Envoy assessment would be a simple character.
She was well aware of the difficulty and danger of the [Purification Envoy] assessment. Anyone who dared to try it had to have a few tricks up their sleeve.
Having another potential ally to watch each other’s backs during the assessment was definitely a good thing.
Seraphina’s heart stirred.
It was like someone handing you a pillow the moment you started to doze off.
She had just been agonizing over the arduous, hundred-plus-kilometer journey, and in the blink of an eye, a convenient mode of transport had presented itself.
"In that case, I’d be grateful for the ride. Thank you very much!" Seraphina didn’t play coy, immediately accepting the offer with thanks.
Of course, she didn’t let her guard down completely.
While accepting the help, she quietly activated her [Eye of Resume] and quickly scanned the group before her.
The information came back.
The strongest person in the group was indeed Nelly Nash, the woman she had just been speaking with.
Most of them had mastered a unique Martial Art called [Broom Cleaning Three Forms].
It seemed to be a basic or popular combat style among the survivors of this world.
But what caught her attention more was that several of them, including Nelly Nash, also possessed a Skill she found quite surprising.
[Guitar Sound Wave Six Forms]
’That name sounds like... it’s related to those modified guitars they’re carrying.’
At Nelly Nash’s signal, Seraphina deftly hopped onto the back of her motorcycle.
The engine let out an even wilder roar as the convoy started up again. Carrying Seraphina, they sped off toward the Forest of Verdure, kicking up a trail of dust across the endless Junkheap Ruins.
