Chapter 148: Chapter 148: Musician Profession, Farm Skit

Seraphina shook her head, deciding to deal with more important matters first.

"Keep watch for me. I need to awaken my Profession for this dungeon."

Flora immediately slapped the ground with its vines, conveying a "leave it to me" sentiment. "Master, you can count on me!"

Moe also flew a little higher, surveying the area and trying its best to look imposing. "I’m really tough too!"

Nearby, Sean Chandler watched the flower and the demon, the corner of his mouth twitching slightly. Still, he tightened his grip on his weapon.

He said in a low voice, "With these two... I’ll do my best!"

With this trio of bodyguards.

Despite their clashing styles, Seraphina felt a little more at ease.

She calmed her mind, focused her consciousness, and channeled her Worker Talent to unlock her new Profession for this Dark Apocalypse Dungeon.

’Activate Worker Talent!’

Seraphina focused her mind, repeating the words silently.

[Ding! Talent awakening in progress!]

The familiar system prompt immediately responded to her call, a cold, mechanical voice echoing in her mind.

[Ding! Awakening successful!]

[Congratulations Player! Your Worker Talent has awakened the Musician Profession within the Dark Apocalypse!]

[Musician Profession]

Ability One: Sound Manipulation

Effect: Allows for precise manipulation of sound to produce sonic vibrations at various frequencies. Can perfectly mimic any sound ever heard.

Ability Two: Singing

Effect: Your singing can disrupt the minds of enemies and create Illusions. It can also bolster the morale of your allies.

The Profession had been successfully awakened.

When the word "Musician" appeared in her mind, Seraphina visibly froze, her face a mask of shock and confusion.

’A Musician? What good is this Profession... in a perilous apocalypse of endless night?’

Seraphina couldn’t help but grumble.

After Seraphina finished reading the detailed descriptions of the two Skills, she felt her vision go dark with despair.

"Sound Manipulation? Able to mimic any sound..." Seraphina murmured.

’This Ability sounds like it has some potential, but in a world of darkness teeming with deadly monsters where survival is the top priority, it can’t deal direct damage or provide any solid defense. It’s like I drew the worst possible lot.’

As for the second Skill, [Singing]... Seraphina’s mouth twitched.

’Isn’t this just a massive taunt Skill?’

Although the description mentioned "disrupting the minds of enemies" and "bolstering the morale of allies."

But in this deathly silent night, singing loudly would be like lighting a beacon, attracting every monster in the vicinity.

This wasn’t self-preservation; it was throwing herself to the wolves.

Seraphina broke into a cold sweat, feeling utterly helpless.

’I guess you don’t always get a suitable Profession every time you awaken one.’

Seraphina recalled the more combat-oriented Professions she’d awakened in previous dungeons and couldn’t help but marvel at the wild unpredictability of her Worker Talent.

This time, she had clearly met her Waterloo.

However, after a brief moment of disappointment, Seraphina quickly pulled herself together.

She took a deep breath, her eyes regaining their clarity.

’Whatever, I’ll just have to make it work. A Profession isn’t inherently strong or weak; what matters is how you use it.’

She whispered, partly to comfort herself and partly to analyze the situation calmly.

’Besides, I still have all the Skills I gained from my Worker Talent, which are enough to ensure my basic survival. This Musician Profession... maybe it’ll prove useful in unexpected ways.’

She didn’t wallow in disappointment. Instead, she began to rapidly consider how to integrate these two seemingly lackluster Abilities into her existing combat and survival strategies.

With the awakening complete, Seraphina quickly pulled her thoughts back to the present.

’The most important thing right now is to complete the system’s mission.’

"The main quest is a must. Our top priority is finding a safe Shelter as soon as possible," Seraphina analyzed.

"Where are we headed now?" Sean Chandler asked.

He gazed into the distance, his feline eyes glinting with a strange light in the darkness.

But the appearance of that Night Rat was an undeniable warning.

More unknown and dangerous monsters lurked within this endless darkness.

They had to be exceptionally careful with every step.

"Looks like we’ll have to search for a Shelter while trying to collect monster blood along the way," Seraphina said, forming a preliminary plan.

"That works," Sean Chandler agreed. "It’s not like a Shelter is just going to materialize in front of us."

Just then, Seraphina overheard Flora and Moe muttering to each other in front of the petrified rat statue.

Flora "spoke" in its unique, rustling voice, "This is all prime material! Next time, don’t just petrify it. What a waste! I can digest them whole! I never dared to eat my fill back on the Master’s big farm, but now that we’re out here, I can finally have a proper feast!"

Its vines waved excitedly, its huge blossom opening and closing as if it could hardly wait.

Moe floated beside it, nodding its little head as if it only half-understood. It replied in a sinister but incredibly earnest tone, "Okay, I get it. Next time, we cripple them and leave them for Flora to eat."

Listening to the two little companions’ shameless "pre-dinner discussion," Seraphina was speechless. "..."

She rubbed her temples and sighed in resignation. ’Looks like I underestimated Flora’s Strong Digestion Skill. That appetite is going to be a big problem.’

She couldn’t help but muse, ’Sigh, if only Flora could eat Growth Potatoes. Those things are so filling. But it’s a purely Carnivorous plant... The road to stockpiling resources is a long one. If only I had something on the farm that could mass-produce meat...’

"Hm?"

As she thought of this, Seraphina suddenly froze. A strange sense of familiarity washed over her.

’Wait... I feel like... I actually do have something like that, don’t I?’

She had been so busy lately, with one thing happening after another, that she seemed to have completely forgotten about a certain something tucked away in a corner.

「Scavenger’s Farm」

Meanwhile, in a cozy corner of the farm, the once-imperious [Heart of the Nest] was trembling uncontrollably. Its red, spider-like body was pressed flat against the ground, practically drenched in sweat.

That is, if its disguised form could actually sweat.

Because at that very moment, two enormous Cluckers with sleek, glossy feathers were flanking it. They tilted their heads, their beady yellow eyes staring it down menacingly.

The Heart of the Nest was screaming internally: ’Help! Is anyone going to save this poor spider! I, the Heart of the Nest, am a production type! I’m not a combat monster! What in the world do these fat chickens want?!’

The Clucker (Tubbs) nudged her partner with a wing and whispered, "Hubby, did you see that? Did a red, many-legged spider just ’SWOOSH’ past? It looked really tasty."

The Clucker (Chubbs) strained to widen his eyes, craning his neck to look around before shaking his head blankly. "Wifey, I didn’t see anything. If there was something tasty, I would’ve caught it for you already! I’d give you the best part, of course, so you can eat your fill and lay the best eggs! That way, the master will be happy and reward us with those Power Apples! And when I eat a Power Apple, I’ll have even more Power to protect you!"

Tubbs was instantly moved, her eyes sparkling. "Oh, Hubby, you’re the best!"

Chubbs proudly puffed out his plump chest, letting out a deep "CLUCK-CLUCK." "Hmph, of course! You’re my dearest wifey, after all!"

The Heart of the Nest, pinned between them and unable to move: "..."

’So this whole romance is just between you two, and I’m just a prop in your little game?!!’
