Chapter 124: Chapter 124: Treatment, Blame it on Sean Chandler

Justin Brooks lay in a pool of blood, his breathing faint and shallow. His vital signs were rapidly declining; he was clearly on the brink of death.

Seeing her son’s horrific state, Miss Webb was instantly overwhelmed by terror and grief.

She grabbed Seraphina Sullivan’s arm, begging incoherently, "Sullivan, please... you have to save him... He’s my only son..."

Before she could finish, her eyes rolled back, and she collapsed.

Sean Chandler, who had been standing silently to the side, reacted in a flash. He darted forward and caught the fainting Miss Webb.

"Get her onto the sofa over there. Let her rest," Seraphina Sullivan ordered quickly, her brow furrowed.

At that moment, she could hear a commotion from outside—neighbors, alarmed by the crying, opening their doors to check, their muffled voices audible through the door.

Seraphina Sullivan was dead set against revealing her identity and abilities as a Player to ordinary people, but with Justin Brooks’s life hanging by a thread, she couldn’t just stand by and do nothing.

’Tsk, what a hassle... Whatever. Any supernatural occurrences can just be pinned on Sean Chandler anyway.’

With Sean Chandler to act as her scapegoat, Seraphina felt a little more at ease.

She quickly shut the door and bolted it, temporarily shutting out any potential disturbances.

Returning to Justin Brooks’s side, Seraphina Sullivan immediately retrieved the [Universal Syringe] from her Space. She deftly injected him first with [Quick Hemostasis] and [Antibacterial Infection].

This temporarily stabilized the most lethal risks of blood loss and infection.

But considering the upcoming treatment would likely be excruciating, Seraphina worried he might wake up and struggle. Taking preemptive action, she gently blew out a puff of [Sweet Fragrance].

The pink mist enveloped Justin Brooks’s mouth and nose, putting him under a deeper level of [Control] to ensure the treatment would go undisturbed.

Next, she carefully pried open Justin Brooks’s hands, which were tightly clutching the severed part of his leg. She took the mangled limb from his grasp.

Seraphina Sullivan focused her mind, and her [Quick Sewing] Skill activated instantly!

A slender Silver Needle, formed from Energy and threaded with a nearly transparent suture line, appeared in her hand. The needle and thread moved as if alive, darting back and forth with astonishing precision to align and stitch the torn muscle and tissue, layer by layer.

Her movements were so fast they left behind a blur!

This was the result of Seraphina’s previous training.

She had become much more precise at suturing flesh.

To create a cover story in case her abilities were ever exposed, she had cultivated the persona of a healer.

In just a few minutes, the horrific-looking severed leg was reattached, the surface wound stitched neatly together.

The only thing marring the work was the spattered blood that made the scene look terrifying.

Afterward, Seraphina repeated the process, cleaning and suturing the other lacerations on his body, some of which were deep enough to expose bone.

After finishing the critical suturing, Seraphina took some [Healing Grass] from her Space—herbs she had gathered in the [Animal Slaughterhouse] instance.

Seraphina pursed her lips and muttered to herself, ’My [Super Healing Potion] is a life-saving treasure; I can’t waste it on you. The [Effect] of this [Healing Grass] is pretty good anyway.’

Seraphina knew full well that when it came to life-saving items, it was always better to keep them for herself.

She quickly crushed the Healing Grass, releasing a faint, fresh aroma, then carefully applied the resulting poultice to the newly reattached leg and several other severe wounds.

The moment the emerald-green paste touched the wounds, it began to grow warm, promoting cellular regeneration and healing.

After all that, Seraphina wiped the non-existent sweat from her brow and looked down at Justin Brooks, whose breathing seemed to have stabilized.

’Alright, I’ve done all I can,’ she thought. ’The bone and major tissues are reconnected, and the herbs are applied. Whether you make a full recovery or have lasting side effects is up to your own body and a bit of luck.’

Seraphina looked down at the blood spattered on her clothes, then glanced at the unconscious Justin Brooks on the floor and the fainted Miss Webb on the sofa. Her brow furrowed slightly.

She immediately beckoned to Sean Chandler.

"Quick, get some blood on you. Make it look realistic," she whispered urgently.

"Otherwise, when people start asking questions, it’ll be hard to explain who saved him."

’She couldn’t exactly claim that a critically wounded Justin Brooks had managed to stitch himself back together, could she?’

’Shoving the trouble onto the intimidating-looking Sean Chandler was the easiest way out.’

Sean Chandler remained expressionless, but he was ruthlessly efficient.

Without hesitation, he dipped his hand in the wet blood on Justin Brooks’s body and smeared it on his own clothes and arms. In an instant, he looked as though he’d been through a "fierce battle" to save the man.

Just then, a more urgent knock sounded at the door of the apartment.

BANG BANG BANG! BANG BANG BANG!

"Miss Webb! Miss Webb! Are you all right? I heard you crying! Did something happen? Open the door!"

The anxious shouts of a man came from outside the door. It was Keith Griffith.

Clearly, Miss Webb’s heart-wrenching screams had alerted the neighbors.

Moreover, nearly everyone in the building knew that Miss Webb’s son, Justin Brooks, was not only a soldier but also an official Player.

For the strong mother of a soldier to cry out like that, something catastrophic must have happened.

Seraphina’s expression became guarded as she listened to the incessant knocking and Keith Griffith’s shouts, which sounded concerned but held an undercurrent of probing.

’She wondered if this guy was connected to Gene Morton, the one who had been robbing people in the complex. She just didn’t have any solid proof.’

’If Keith Griffith found out something had really happened to Justin Brooks, there was no telling what crooked ideas he might get.’

But there was no choice. The door had to be opened.

Seraphina took a deep breath, composed her expression, and walked over to open the door.

Outside, Keith Griffith was knocking furiously, his mind already calculating. If Justin Brooks was really gone, he and Morton could start hoarding supplies in the complex again.

The door suddenly swung open, revealing a blood-soaked girl with ice-cold eyes.

The sight scared him half to death. He leaped back, nearly stumbling to the ground.

"Holy crap! You scared the hell out of me!" he gasped, clutching his chest, still shaken.

When he got a clear look and saw it was Seraphina Sullivan, his face filled with shock and astonishment. "Se... Seraphina Sullivan? What are you—Why are you here?"

As he spoke, he subconsciously craned his neck to peer inside the apartment.

Seraphina’s tone was flat, laced with sarcasm. "You live on the eighth floor and managed to rush over so quickly to ’show your concern.’ My place is right across the hall, so of course I got here faster. Is there a problem?"

Keith Griffith was left speechless by her words, suddenly embarrassed. "Er... no, it’s not that. I just heard Miss Webb’s terrible screaming and was worried something had happened..."

His gaze fell back to the alarming amount of blood on Seraphina, and his voice wavered. "You... all that blood on you... What on earth happened in there? What’s wrong with... with Justin Brooks?"
