Infinite Disasters: I Hoarded My Way to Godhood
Chapter 12: The Tailor Profession
Chapter 12: Chapter 12: The Tailor Profession
After reviewing the information on the task panel, Seraphina Sullivan took a deep breath, her grip tightening on the Sound Wave Vibration Gun in her hand.
The cold touch of the gun was a stark reminder of her current situation.
In this perilous Parasite Apocalypse dungeon, a single weapon was far from enough.
She glanced around at the abandoned buildings. From the distance, a faint, hair-raising squirming sound echoed.
Seraphina Sullivan bit her lower lip.
It was time to awaken a Profession in the Parasite Apocalypse dungeon.
’I hope I get a Profession with combat abilities.’
Seraphina Sullivan prayed silently.
Closing her eyes, she said with a firm voice, "Worker Talent!"
[Worker Talent activating... Awakening in progress!]
Seraphina Sullivan held her breath.
[Ding! Awakening successful!]
[Congratulations, Player! You have awakened the Tailor Profession in the Parasite Apocalypse through your Worker Talent!]
The next moment, a description of the Profession appeared before her eyes:
[Profession: Tailor]
Ability One: Quick Sewing
Effect: Materialize a special needle and thread that can be used to quickly mend items.
Ability Two: Clothes Making
Effect: Create various types of clothing from different materials.
Seraphina Sullivan’s eyes widened, and she stared at the glowing screen in disbelief.
She repeated the word mechanically, "Tai... Tailor?"
The hope that had been suspended in Seraphina Sullivan’s heart...
...was utterly crushed the moment she saw her awakened Profession.
"Are you kidding me?! A Tailor? Am I supposed to just sew clothes in this dungeon?"
Seraphina Sullivan was on the verge of tears, but none would come.
She wanted to scream, but she quickly clapped a hand over her mouth, afraid of attracting the dungeon’s monsters.
A rustling from deep within the shopping mall reminded her this was no place for an outburst.
Seraphina Sullivan leaned weakly against a broken counter, the Sound Wave Gun in her hand suddenly feeling incredibly heavy.
She pictured herself facing the parasitic monsters. ’Am I supposed to fight them with an embroidery needle?’
"This Talent is definitely messing with me..."
Seraphina Sullivan shook her head with a bitter smile.
"Maybe... maybe there’s still a chance," she muttered to herself.
’I can’t just psych myself out. Maybe this Tailor Profession is more powerful than I imagine.’
Seraphina Sullivan recalled the Scavenger Profession she’d awakened in the Aberration disaster dungeon. It sounded like a mere junk collector, but it actually came with its own Space and a Skill for modifying weapons.
"I’ll just have to test the effects of these two skills," Seraphina Sullivan took a deep breath, deciding to test the Profession’s Abilities.
The first Skill was [Quick Sewing].
With a thought, a long, slender Silver Needle instantly materialized in her hand, its end trailing a nearly transparent Energy Silk Thread.
She gave it a gentle swing, and the tip of the needle whistled faintly as it cut through the air.
"Can quickly mend items..." she murmured the Skill’s description, her gaze falling upon the mottled wall beside her.
’There are no other materials around, anyway. I might as well try it on this.’
She raised her hand, pressed the Silver Needle against the wall, and gave it a gentle push—
"SHINK!"
There was none of the resistance she’d expected; the Silver Needle slid into the hard concrete as easily as if it were piercing tofu.
Seraphina Sullivan’s pupils contracted. With a flick of her wrist, the needle and thread darted through the wall, and in the blink of an eye, she had stitched a neat cross-hatch pattern on it, as if it weren’t a concrete wall but a soft piece of fabric.
"..." She stared blankly at her handiwork, momentarily stunned.
’This needle can pierce right through a wall?’
’What if I stabbed a person with it? Or another living creature? Like the parasitic monsters in this dungeon?’
At this thought, the corners of Seraphina Sullivan’s mouth curved up slightly, and a glint of excitement flashed in her eyes.
"Maybe this Tailor Profession isn’t as useless as I thought! Of course, I still need to test it on many other materials," Seraphina said, her eyes shining with the excitement of someone who had just discovered a new world.
She immediately crouched, picked up a hard piece of rubble, and flicked it with the Silver Needle.
"SHINK!"
The stone was instantly pierced. Empowered by the Quick Sewing Skill, Seraphina’s hand moved so fast it became a blur. A dense web of stitches spread across the rubble’s surface, sewing a strange pattern onto it.
"Interesting! The Quick Sewing Skill also increases my sewing speed." The corners of her mouth turned up.
Next, she grabbed a broken piece of rebar. Pressing the needle tip to the metal surface and applying a little force, the Silver Needle pierced it without any resistance, leaving clear stitch marks on the rebar.
"It can even pierce metal?" Seraphina Sullivan’s heart began to race. She immediately tested it on glass, plastic, and even a discarded alloy plate. Without exception, her [Quick Sewing] Skill pierced through them all with ease, as if these hard materials were nothing more than soft cloth to her.
She looked down at the Silver Needle in her hand when a flash of inspiration struck her. ’Since it can sew, then what if...’
With a thought, she tried to increase the energy output.
The Silver Needle trembled slightly, then began to extend and thicken. In the blink of an eye, it had expanded from a thin needle into a long, slender, silver-white sword. Its blade shimmered with a cold light, resembling a Fencing Sword forged for close combat.
Meanwhile, the transparent thread at its hilt was breathtakingly beautiful, like a flowing ribbon.
Seraphina Sullivan grasped the hilt, treating the air before her as fabric to be sewn, and swung it casually—"SWISH!" A sharp whistle cut through the air. Where the blade passed, it was as if even the light itself was being stitched together.
"I’m a genius! All that time reading novels and watching anime wasn’t for nothing, after all," she couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
’This seemingly ordinary sewing needle can actually turn into a sharp weapon!’
Just as Seraphina Sullivan was about to try the Tailor’s second Skill, [Clothes Making], her vision suddenly blurred, and black, mist-like shadows appeared at the edges of her sight.
She staggered and almost fell, quickly grabbing the nearby wall to steady herself.
"What’s going on..." She shook her head, trying to dispel the sudden dizziness, but the next second—
"GRRRUMBLE—"
A fierce protest erupted from her abdomen, her stomach cramping as if it were being squeezed by an invisible hand.
Seraphina Sullivan froze, subconsciously pressing a hand to her stomach.
??
’But I made all the right preparations before entering the dungeon. I ate and drank my fill, and even made sure to eat high-energy food.’
’Normally, that should have been enough to last a whole day. How could I be this hungry so soon after getting here...?’
Then, as if remembering something, Seraphina Sullivan looked down at the Fencing Sword in her hand, which had been extended from the Silver Needle. The blade still gleamed with a cold light, but now it sparked a sudden realization.
’Could it be... increasing the Skill’s output rapidly consumes Energy, causing hunger?’
As if to confirm her suspicion, another sharp pain shot through her stomach. An intense feeling of emptiness washed over her like a tide, even causing her fingertips to tremble.
She immediately deactivated the Skill. The Silver Needle Sword instantly dissolved into motes of light and vanished into the air.
"Phew..."
Seraphina Sullivan let out a long breath, but the hunger didn’t subside.
She gritted her teeth, quickly pulled a plain steamed bun and a bottle of mineral water from her Scavenging Backpack, and, casting aside all decorum, took a large bite.
