Infinite Disasters: I Hoarded My Way to Godhood
Chapter 119: Bombing Pigeon Plan, Hold Steady
Chapter 119: Chapter 119: Bombing Pigeon Plan, Hold Steady
Dexter Luther activated his Talent, [Shield].
But that wasn’t enough!
The Air Shield was highly effective against physical impacts, but it had limited effect in weakening this kind of energy light!
In this life-or-death moment, Dexter Luther’s potential was pushed to its absolute limit!
With a fierce wave of his hand, he forcibly extracted the scarce water molecules from the surrounding environment, rapidly condensing and shaping them in mid-air!
One after another, smooth-as-a-mirror, constantly flowing and rotating [Water Mirror Shields] suddenly appeared.
These Water Shields precisely intercepted the path of the Petrification Light.
A wondrous thing happened.
When the eerie green Petrification Light shone on the smooth surfaces of the Water Mirror Shields, it was clearly refracted and scattered.
Although it couldn’t be completely nullified, it greatly reduced the light’s concentration and penetrating power, buying him a precious moment to breathe!
’Thank God my Talent is top-notch in a crisis. I managed to come up with this light-refracting Water Mirror Shield on the fly in this godforsaken dungeon.’
A wave of fear and relief washed over Dexter Luther. ’Otherwise, I would’ve died who knows how many times just from those few volleys.’
He had the [Air Shield] as his first layer of buffering and physical defense, and the [Water Mirror Shield] as a second layer of security to refract the light. In addition, the [Crisis Perception Compass] in his hand constantly pointed toward directions of relatively lower threat. This combination allowed Dexter Luther to flee for his life. Like a small boat navigating treacherous waves, he barely survived as he headed toward an area where the green light was slightly less dense.
At this moment, he could no longer care about any Treasure Chests or retrieval missions. There was only one thought in his mind—survive, and make it through these last two days!
Meanwhile, the other surviving Players were also using their own unique abilities, desperately struggling to survive this sudden Catastrophe Level difficulty.
Seraphina Sullivan clung tightly to the back of the giant wolf Sean Chandler had transformed into, the wind whistling past her ears.
The giant wolf was incredibly fast. Every push of its four legs against the ground unleashed immense power, letting it dart through the ruins like a black bolt of lightning.
However, the army of The Silenti, like a green thundercloud, pursued them relentlessly from behind. They shrieked as the Petrification Light shot from their eyes, raining down like a dense shower. It bombarded the broken walls and ruins behind the pair, turning everything it touched into cold stone.
If Sean Chandler hadn’t always been able to rely on his beastly intuition and speed to change direction at the last possible second, they would have long been swallowed by the green light.
"Damn it! We can’t go on like this!" Seraphina Sullivan grit her teeth, glancing back at the approaching wave of death.
Her mind raced, and she immediately focused her concentration!
The hundreds of birds she controlled in the sky received a new command. No longer were they just scouting; like a suicide squad, they fearlessly charged toward the pursuing swarm of The Silenti!
The birds’ own attacks did negligible damage to The Silenti, but their suicidal collisions, pecking, and harassment effectively disrupted a portion of The Silenti’s flight formation, slightly slowing their pursuit.
But that wasn’t enough!
A ruthless glint flashed in Seraphina Sullivan’s eyes. She quickly pulled several bundles of bombs from her Space—ones she had traded for from Nicholas Jensen.
And, of course, the bombs stored in Chester Donovan’s space bag.
With swift movements, she securely tied them to the claws and bodies of several of the strongest pigeons.
[Bird Manipulation Skill]—precise control!
[Pigeon] + [Bomb] = Simple [Bombing Pigeon]!
"Go!"
At her command, the few pigeons carrying explosives, like soldiers given a sacred mission, turned around and charged without hesitation toward the core of the most densely packed group of pursuing Silenti!
"BOOM! BOOM! BOOM—!!"
A series of violent explosions erupted within the green tide!
The light and shock waves temporarily tore the dense formation apart, sending shattered limbs of The Silenti and grayish-white fragments flying everywhere!
Although it couldn’t inflict a devastating blow, the sudden explosion had a significant deterrent and delaying effect!
Seraphina Sullivan looked back at the smoke rising in the sky and the pursuing ranks, which had thinned out in an instant. Her eyes lit up!
’This [Bird Breeder] Profession is amazing! And the [Bird Manipulation Technique] isn’t just for scouting!’
A surge of excitement rose within her.
’As long as I have enough bombs, I’ll have my own bomber wing!’
Seraphina Sullivan began making more Bombing Pigeons.
Pigeon P.S.: Life is rough.
With the Bombing Pigeon Plan’s successful intervention, the pressure on them dropped drastically.
Sean Chandler seized the opportunity, putting on a burst of speed. With a few powerful leaps, he shook off their pursuers and dove into the entrance of a half-collapsed underground facility covered by a massive network of pipes, quickly disappearing into the depths of the dark passage.
Having just escaped danger, Seraphina Sullivan couldn’t help but think about The Silenti killed by the "Bombing Pigeons," and she felt a pang of regret.
"Sigh, so many ’materials’ and retrieval points. If only I could have collected them all..." she muttered, as if seeing Treasure Chests sprouting wings and flying away.
But she also knew that in that situation, escaping with their lives was the top priority. The retrieval mission had to be put aside for now.
She carefully surveyed her current surroundings.
It seemed to be the main channel of an abandoned, old-world city drainage system. The space was exceptionally wide with a high, vaulted ceiling. Below was a dry riverbed, flanked by concrete platforms one could walk on.
The air was filled with a faint smell of mold and earth, but it was bearable.
’Hmm, this space is more than big enough to park the RV. But...’ She looked around, her brow furrowing slightly. ’The passages lead everywhere, there are too many entrances and exits, and the lines of sight are too open. There’s really no guarantee of safety here.’
Given the sudden spike in the dungeon’s difficulty, Seraphina Sullivan decisively resolved to lay low for the last two days. She would firmly adhere to the strategic principles of "stability above all, survival first," and would absolutely not go out recklessly.
’Actually... the ’Bombing Pigeon’ tactic really does seem viable.’
Seraphina Sullivan stroked her chin, her mind beginning to whir again.
’The Silenti don’t proactively attack animals. I can remotely control the birds, use their shared vision to pinpoint the location of a Silenti swarm, and then have the ’Bombing Pigeons’ charge right in and self-destruct! After the explosion, I can control other birds to retrieve the corpses of the dead Silenti...’
The more she thought about it, the more perfect the plan seemed!
She could hide away comfortably and control everything remotely to complete the retrieval mission. It would be an efficient way to kill monsters while guaranteeing her own absolute safety—truly killing two birds with one stone!
"Let’s do it!"
Seraphina Sullivan’s eyes lit up. "But before that, we have to modify this temporary base. We need to hide our position completely!"
Sean Chandler sensed the surrounding area, then pointed toward the depths of a branching passage. "There’s a large, dense mass of withered vines and mutated plant roots over there. I can go get them to block the main entrances."
"Okay!" Seraphina Sullivan nodded, simultaneously releasing Flora from her Space. "Flora, you go help too. Use your vines to cover up all the small cracks and holes. The messier and more natural it looks, the better!"
