Infinite Disasters: I Hoarded My Way to Godhood
Chapter 107: Player Infighting
Chapter 107: Chapter 107: Player Infighting
Seraphina Sullivan was delighted to find the grapes.
The sweet flavor of the grapes filled her mouth, bringing a long-forgotten sense of bliss that belonged to the normal world. It helped the tension in Seraphina Sullivan’s heart unwind just a little.
"This world may have suffered a terrifying Petrification Apocalypse, but it doesn’t seem to have dealt a devastating blow to nature itself."
As Seraphina Sullivan spoke, she popped a few more grapes into her mouth, feeling the faint but real Life Force within them.
Sean Chandler nodded in agreement.
His gaze swept over the lush vegetation that was nearly swallowing the buildings. He added, "True. Other than ’people’ disappearing, other life forms seem to be thriving. They might even be running wild now that human activity is gone."
As he spoke, he struck like lightning, precisely pinching a crawling, abnormally plump beetle from under an exceptionally thick patch of moss. The beetle kicked its legs futilely between his fingertips.
Seraphina Sullivan confirmed this through the vision of the small sparrow high in the sky.
Looking down from above, the city was deathly still, yet it was covered in varying shades of green, displaying a strange but tenacious Life Force.
However, the more closely she observed, the more a strange phenomenon stood out.
The petrified statues scattered across every corner of the city were almost exclusively human in form.
People running, crying out, holding each other... Yet she rarely saw any petrified animals or other creatures.
There were no petrified dogs in the abandoned cars on the streets, nor were there any signs of birds frozen solid under the eaves.
’Could it be that monsters like The Silenti... only petrify humans?’
The moment the thought occurred to her, Seraphina Sullivan’s heart began to beat a little faster.
’If this theory is true, it means the fatal threat in this instance has a certain... specificity.’
She subconsciously looked at Sean Chandler beside her.
’If The Silenti really only attack humans, then Sean Chandler, with his ability to transform into a non-human form, would have an unimaginable survival advantage and room to maneuver in this instance!’
’For him, this place is practically a tailor-made hunting ground.’
Just as Seraphina Sullivan was contemplating how to best leverage Sean Chandler’s advantage in this instance...
High in the sky, the sparrow in charge of surveillance suddenly sent back an urgent visual signal.
’Movement!’
Seraphina Sullivan immediately switched most of her consciousness to the sparrow’s perspective.
In a relatively open square a few streets away, two familiar figures were moving quickly!
It was Chester Donovan, the Player who had been teleported in with them and had tried to lead the group.
And another male Player who was also present at the time.
However, their current situation was completely different. They weren’t cooperating to evade danger.
Chester Donovan’s face was pale and his breathing was rapid. He kept looking back in terror as he sprinted, and his sleeve was torn as if by a sharp blade, leaving him in a sorry state.
And the Player behind him had a ferocious expression, his eyes flashing with undisguised killing intent and an abnormal fanaticism. He was tightly gripping a short, glinting knife, relentlessly pursuing Chester Donovan!
This was no simple escape. It was a blatant, life-or-death chase between two Players!
Chester Donovan never imagined that just moments after a narrow escape from the clutches of those terrifying, petrifying monsters...
Before he could even catch his breath, he was targeted by a fellow Player, Chad Parker, who was clearly going for the kill!
"Hey! Chad Parker! We don’t need to kill each other!"
While desperately dodging, Chester Donovan tried to reason with him. "This instance only has a survival mission, no competitive requirements! We can totally cooperate, find supplies and safe points together. Our chances of survival will be much greater!"
"Heh heh, you do have a point," Chad Parker’s voice came from behind, filled with a cat-and-mouse-like mockery.
Just as Chester Donovan felt a wave of relief, thinking his persuasion was working...
Chad Parker let out a sneer, his tone suddenly turning vicious. "However, *I* think that rather than busting my ass digging through ruins for who-knows-what kind of junk, it’s much easier to just harvest from ’colleagues’ like you! Anyone who’s survived this long must have some good life-saving treasures, right? Hand them over, and if I’m in a good mood, I might just let you keep your pathetic life!"
Chester Donovan’s heart instantly sank to the pit of his stomach, his expression turning grim.
He knew that words were meaningless now. The man was here to kill and plunder.
"It seems... there’s no way for us to get along," Chester Donovan’s voice turned completely cold, tinged with a hint of finality.
Before his voice had even faded, he abruptly slapped a small, ordinary-looking pouch at his waist!
With a flash of faint light, two formidable-looking light machine guns with a heavy metallic texture instantly appeared in his hands, their muzzles aimed unhesitatingly at the lunging Chad Parker!
The two sizable machine guns had appeared out of thin air in Chester Donovan’s hands—a clear sign that he possessed Space Equipment!
Seeing the machine guns appear from nowhere, Chad Parker was not shocked but delighted, the greed in his eyes intensifying. "Heh heh! Space Equipment! You really do have the good stuff! I’ve hit the jackpot this time!"
The instant Chester Donovan pulled the trigger, Chad Parker’s figure flickered like a phantom.
Leaving behind a blurry afterimage, he circled to Chester Donovan’s side and rear at a speed far exceeding that of a normal person!
"What?!" Chester Donovan was aghast, not expecting the other man to be so fast.
’Clearly, the guy was just toying with me during the chase.’
At this thought, Chester Donovan gritted his teeth.
Whipping his guns around, he activated his Talent Ability.
Far away, Seraphina Sullivan, watching the battle remotely through the sparrow’s eyes, took in the entire scene, her heart completely unfazed.
"As expected, in an apocalypse instance, especially under rules with only a single survival goal, how could Players possibly coexist peacefully," she said in a low voice to Sean Chandler, as a faint golden light quietly lit up in her eyes.
The [Eye of Resume] activated directly through the sparrow’s vision.
[Name: Chad Parker]
[Gender: Male]
[Level: Level 2]
[Professional Skills: Talent·Swift Feet: Greatly increases movement speed and evasion Ability for a short period of time]
[Weaknesses: Poor stamina]
Chester Donovan’s Ability, on the other hand, surprised Seraphina Sullivan. His Talent was named [Full Firepower].
Its Effect was to increase the power of various Fire Weapons.
In the brief moment Seraphina Sullivan was reading the information, the situation on the battlefield changed in a flash.
Relying on his speed to get close, Chad Parker’s dagger stabbed toward the center of Chester Donovan’s back like a venomous snake!
Though startled, Chester Donovan was not flustered. He was an experienced Player, after all. He forcefully twisted his body, using the metal frame of his machine gun to narrowly block the fatal blow, sending a shower of sparks flying!
The two were instantly entangled in a struggle, the roar of the machine guns and the cold gleam of the dagger weaving together in the silent ruins, shattering the brief tranquility.
