Infinite Awakening: 10,000x EXP Converter!
Chapter 78: Concept Override Token
[Item acquired: Concept Override Token.]
[Cost: 2,000 KP.]
[Current KP: 53.]
[The Token will activate automatically on the next Skill Evolution roll.]
[Note: Concept Override Token does NOT guarantee a high multiplier.]
[Note: It only guarantees the result will be conceptual tier regardless of multiplier.]
[Note: A 1x Common roll with Concept Override active will still produce a conceptual Skill, just a weak one.]
[Note: The Host should probably try to get a decent multiplier anyway.]
The Token sat in his inventory, pulsing with prismatic light. His safety net. His last hope.
He purchased another Minor Skill Evolution Catalyst. 500,000 EXP. Target: Clearwater Palm.
[DING!]
[Item: Minor Skill Evolution Catalyst.]
[Cost: 500,000 EXP from Bank.]
[Target Skill: Clearwater Palm (D-Rank, Enhanced).]
[Effect: Proficiency EXP gain × 100 for 1 hour.]
[EXP Bank: 24,400,000 → 23,900,000.]
He had what he needed. The catalyst. The Token. The plan.
Forty-five hours. Time to farm the first Skill he ever learned into something that could fight the universe itself.
He activated Gambler’s Delay on Clearwater Palm proficiency. Raised his palm. Began to strike the tunnel wall with measured, repetitive precision.
[DING!]
[Gambler’s Delay activated.]
[Pool: Clearwater Palm proficiency.]
[Minor Skill Evolution Catalyst: ACTIVE.]
[Proficiency gain multiplier: 100×.]
[Duration: 60 minutes.]
Strike one. The wall hissed as hydroxyl radicals ate into the concrete. Proficiency registered.
Strike two. Strike three. Strike four.
The sound echoed through the empty subway platform. Acid on stone. Dissolution on reality. A boy with acid hands, practicing the first thing he ever learned, preparing to fight something that had never been fought before.
The Fate Enforcer timer ticked in the corner of his vision.
45 hours, 38 minutes.
---
Strike three hundred. The tunnel wall where Alvian practiced had dissolved into a shallow crater, the concrete eaten away layer by layer by three hundred applications of Clearwater Palm.
His arms burned. Not from fatigue. STR 530 and VIT 855 made physical exhaustion nearly impossible. The burn came from the Clearwater resonance in his bones, which hummed louder with each strike, responding to sustained Talent use like a muscle being exercised past its comfort zone.
[DING!]
[Strike 300: Proficiency +100. Pool: 30,000.]
[Clearwater Palm proficiency: 96% of D-Rank cap.]
[Minor Skill Evolution Catalyst: 31 minutes remaining.]
Four percent remaining. Four hundred more strikes at base proficiency. Four minutes of work if he maintained his current pace.
He maintained his pace.
Strike three hundred fifty. Pool: 35,000. Proficiency: 97%.
Strike four hundred. Pool: 40,000. Proficiency: 98%.
The wall crater deepened. Hydroxyl radicals ate through the concrete and into the bedrock beneath. The air tasted like battery acid and dissolved mineral. His Clearwater Coating, the passive bone-level corrosion, intensified with each strike, making his palms glow faintly with iridescent light.
Strike five hundred. Pool: 50,000. Proficiency: 99%.
[DING!]
[Strike 500: Proficiency +100. Pool: 50,000.]
[Clearwater Palm proficiency: 99% of D-Rank cap.]
[Minor Skill Evolution Catalyst: 11 minutes remaining.]
One percent. One hundred strikes. One minute.
[DING!]
[World Will status update.]
[CRITICAL monitoring sustained.]
[Fate Enforcer ETA: 44 hours, 12 minutes.]
[Note: The System detects elevated dimensional resonance in Host’s vicinity.]
[Note: Sustained S-Rank Talent use has been detected by local reality.]
[Note: The World Will is not escalating deployment.]
[Note: But it is watching.]
[Note: The System recommends the Host conclude his business quickly.]
The notification chilled him more than he expected. The World Will wasn’t escalating, but it was watching. Every strike he made against the tunnel wall was being observed by something vast and patient and fundamentally hostile to his existence.
He pushed the thought down. Filed it with everything else he couldn’t afford to think about right now.
Strike six hundred. The catalyst timer showed 4 minutes remaining. His palms blazed with Clearwater resonance. The wall crater had eaten through three feet of concrete and into the pre-Cataclysm bedrock beneath. The stone itself was dissolving, ancient dimensional material that had survived the Cataclysm now being undone by a sixteen-year-old’s Talent.
[DING!]
[Strike 600: Proficiency +100. Pool: 60,000.]
[Clearwater Palm proficiency: 99.8% of D-Rank cap.]
Strike six hundred fifty. Pool: 65,000.
Strike seven hundred. Pool: 70,000. Proficiency: 99.9%.
Strike seven hundred twelve. The catalyst timer hit zero. The hundred-times multiplier expired. But the proficiency counter kept ticking.
[DING!]
[Strike 712: Proficiency +1 (base rate, catalyst expired). Pool: 70,012.]
[Clearwater Palm proficiency: 99.97% of D-Rank cap.]
Strike seven hundred fifty. Base proficiency. One point per strike now. The pool grew slower.
Strike eight hundred. Pool: 70,050. Proficiency: 99.99%.
Strike eight hundred twelve.
[DING!]
[Strike 812: Proficiency +1.]
[Clearwater Palm proficiency: MAXIMUM.]
[Clearwater Palm has reached maximum proficiency at D-Rank.]
[Evolution conditions: MET.]
[Concept Override Token: DETECTED.]
[Activating Concept Override on next evolution roll.]
[The Token will force the evolution result into conceptual tier regardless of multiplier.]
[The multiplier will still determine the conceptual Skill’s power level.]
[Common (1×): Weak conceptual Skill.]
[Uncommon (11-100×): Moderate conceptual Skill.]
[Rare (101-1000×): Strong conceptual Skill.]
[Epic (1001-5000×): Powerful conceptual Skill.]
[God Roll (10000×): Transcendent conceptual Skill.]
[Note: The Host has 70,050 base proficiency EXP pooled.]
[Note: The Host should release the pool now.]
[Note: The Host should probably hope for a good roll.]
[Note: The System cannot influence the result.]
[Note: The System is nervous.]
Alvian stopped. His palm pressed flat against the dissolving wall. His breath came in controlled bursts. The Clearwater resonance in his bones peaked, humming at a frequency that made the concrete around him vibrate.
He had one shot. One roll. One evolution that would determine whether he could fight the Fate Enforcers or would be erased from existence in forty-four hours.
The Concept Override Token pulsed in his inventory. Ready. Waiting. It would force the result into conceptual tier regardless of the multiplier. But the multiplier would determine how powerful the conceptual Skill was.
A Common roll would give him something weak. A conceptual Skill that could barely scratch a Fate Enforcer. A Rare would give him something that could actually fight.
