Chapter 55: Plans For Winter in Tyros

POV Eliza:

The heroes were gone and I was left alone in Tyros. I was glad I didn't have to accompany them because I'd had enough of them. Each of them was bad enough individually, but together as a group they were almost unbearable. One was a narcist. The other was a brainless barbarian and the girl was possessive and lovesick. But the worst was the last one, the magician. He always had the same expression on his face that I couldn't read. In addition, he always makes the consistent movement in which he pushes up his glasses with the middle finger of his left hand. Except he no longer had glasses in this world. Pathetic. But back to the question: did I want to go to the capital in the spring and close myself off again? I would decided that in the spring, but the advantages were obvious. Equipment, training and EXP. All things that were missing.

The first thing I did that day was a change of scenery. I left the hotel and checked back into the red deer. Of course, I also changed my identity and became Eliza, the adventurer again. My plan for the winter was to go back into the dungeon solo and try to improve my guild rank as much as possible. I also want to improve some of my skills. This also gave me a reason to visit Lirella and Weyn regularly. I hadn't seen either of them during my time in the hero group and I had to admit that I miss both of them. In that short time they had become a kind of family to me and I became painfully aware of how much I missed Mama. I didn't want to think about it, but it seemed like I couldn't be alone for long periods of time. After stopping at the red deer, I went to Lirella. She greets me with a smile.

“Hello Eliza. Back in the country?” <Lirella>

"Yes. I've had other things to do in the last few weeks and that's why I haven't been able to visit you. How is Weyn?” <Eliza>

"He's fine. He will be happy that you are back.” <Lirella>

“I will stay in Tyros for the winter. If you don’t mind, I’d be happy to come over more often.” <Eliza>

“Do that, we’ll be happy. You are always welcome. Would you like to learn something again?” <Lirella>

“Yes, I plan to do that. But I have to train my skills first. I'd be happy to stop by for a tea in the meantime. I also want to continue improving my cooking skills.” <Eliza>

“As I said, you are welcome at any time. Even if I have a student at the moment, you can sit in the kitchen. Weyn will definitely keep you company.” <Lirella>

"I'm looking forward to it. See you, Lirella.” <Eliza>

“Good luck and come back safely.” <Lirella>

I waved to her and walked towards the guild. When I got there I greeted Sana first. I hadn't spoken to her for a while and renewed our acquaintance. She was happy that I was fine, but immediately warned me not to overdo it. Some things they never changed.

The next day I went back into the dungeon. I was briefly surprised that I was able to get to the first level. I defeated the second boss with the heroes, so I thought I only got to the 11th floor. Maybe I was an exception because I was traveling solo? Anyway, I accepted it without thinking too much about it. As always, I ignored the slimes and only defeated the bugs I met along the way. There weren't many, as they were probably defeated by other adventurers. Then I stood at the stairs to the spiders. I had a pretty crazy idea last night and wanted to test it, but to do that I had to go to the spiders on floor 13. So I went back to the entrance and teleported myself to floor 11. The adventurers standing in front of the dungeon looked looked at me in surprise as I left the dungeon, only to re-enter it straight away.

I spent as little time as possible on floor 11. I avoided all combat and just looked for the portal down. I did the same with floor 12. I was fast enough to run away from the beetles. Finally, on floor 13, I looked for a spot in the dungeon that was free of other adventurers. That wasn't too difficult because, as always, any floor with spiders was not very popular with them and so I quickly found a suitable spot. It was also important that I first had a single spider as an opponent. My plan was to let her bite me and see how much damage one bite did. Then I measured how long it took for the poison effects to stop on their own. My goal was to further expand my resistance to poison. Since I now had poison resistance advance, I needed the spiders from level 13 because the ones from level 3 were too weak. It took some courage, because the spiders on this level were slightly larger than the previous ones and also had a bright green color. Their fangs also looked longer. A bite certainly hurt, but I had to get through it.

And indeed the bite was painful, but less than I thought. This was certainly due to pain resistance advanced. I also received the status effect poisoned middle. My poison resistance apparently didn't change the strength of the poison. My HP also went down pretty quickly, but the poison length was shorter than feared. So my poison resistance worked here. My regeneration was only level 1 and therefore far too weak, so I increased it to level 5. My EXP was still enough for that, but that wasn't enough either. So I had to keep an eye on my HP during my action and, if in doubt, quickly defeat the spider. But with dagger advanced that wasn't a problem. When choosing my main weapon I had the choice between dagger and spear and I chose dagger. The deciding factor in the choice was the speed, which was much higher with the Dagger. Also, fighting with dagger felt better than with the spear.

After spending about an hour being poisoned by spiders, I truly realized the significance of my action. It was pretty insane when I really looked at it. In my old lives I had repeatedly had strange impulses and carried out actions that others described as insane. I once went on a trip to the mountains, just on an impulse and a whim, and hadn't thought about suitable clothing. Consequently, I was caught in a heavy rain shower and was completely soaked. The subsequent cold confined me to bed for almost a week and I had to promise my parents that I would never do something like that again. As we saw today, the resolution did not last long.

What other options were there? What other opponents did I know that I could train resistance on? If I ignored everyone that only did physical damage and ignored the spiders' venom, all that was left were the butterflies with the caterpillars. So after I had enough of the spiders, I went back to the 6th floor and looked for butterflies. Since I didn't feel like letting the caterpillars bite me (my need for pain was met), I attracted two butterflies and killed the accompanying caterpillars with air bolts. When I was talking about the butterflies, I also remembered that I now had Identify Monster on advanced. Time to try it out. I now saw the levels of the monsters and the  butterfly was level 6. I tested it on other monsters over the next few days and apparently the level of the monsters in floors 1 to 10 corresponded to the level of the floor. I spent the rest of the day being enchanted by the butterflies. But that was very boring, so I looked for something else to do afterwards. I plan on defeating the floor 10 boss solo by the end of Winter.
