POV Eliza

“I’ll then choose my class.” <Eliza>

There were many ways to choose your class, but here in camp one was preferred. I went to Mama and I's hut and sank into meditation. I had been practicing this type of meditation for a long time, so I knew what I had to do. I didn't fully understand the system behind it, but essentially it was a matter of imagining which class you wanted to choose. You would noticed a change inside when you successfully chose a class. However, whether it was the one you wanted could only be found out after an appraisal. But there was rarely a case in which it didn't work. Most of the time the person in question didn't concentrate well enough. My appraisal should be enough to recognize my class. So far, none have been displayed as a class for me.

I sat on a blanket in the corner and began to concentrate. The first thing I had to do was find inner peace, which was very difficult for me. I just couldn't concentrate well enough. On impulse, I picked up the blanket and positioned myself somewhere else in the room. I also opened the window. I now had the best view of the full moon. I immediately noticed that I could concentrate much better and found my inner center very quickly. I then imagined myself as a class choosing the scout. After a few minutes I noticed a change in myself. I was about to breathe a sigh of relief and was about to let go of my concentration when I noticed a second change. What was that? Did something go wrong? Unsettled, I immediately turned to appraisal myself.

I let out a deep breath of relief. I was given the scout as a class. Then I see the increase in my base values. My status values had increased significantly. Wow, I was already at level 10 and had the corresponding values? What surprises me the most was the very high value in charisma. I had an abilities for agility and intuition, but for charisma? Another mystery for me.

I suddenly had almost forty times as much HP, SP and MP. What did Aslan mean? When you chose your class, you got your basic values in the basic statue values as the product of your level and HP, SP and MP, additionion to the bonuses from the corresponding skills. But shouldn't I be level 1 first? Then the fight with the wolf came to mind. In addition, I suddenly seemed to have all the XP that I got through training credited to me at once. Still, level 10 was extremely high. The other children who turned 10 before me and had chosen their class were at most level 5. Apparently there was something true about the prodigy who learns much faster than others. But no matter whom I ask later, no one in the community knew anyone who was level 10 at the age of 10. Strange.

And I had learned a lot of new skills in the last few years. They also had to be higher than 0, at least many of them, even if I didn't see it at the moment. Then I realized I had 300 unused XP. They probably came from the fight with the wolf, since training EXP is assigned directly. Although 300 EXP for one wolf was a lot. This meant you could move up 2 levels directly in the lower levels. That felt like too much.

I sigh, but this time with relief. I was able to do much more with the basis values than before. With the significantly larger MP pool alone, I was able to do a lot more magic and therefore train my magic control much better. But I will probably remain a weakling all my life, because my strength is clearly my worst value. But a known weakness could be circumvented. The goal was to avoid being hit in battle. To do this, I was able to rely on my agility and my intuition and train them preferably. For my magic, I had to to learn new spells. I didn't know how to approach this problem yet, but it had to wait. The first thing I should think about is what to do with my skill points. I remembered Aslan telling me that magic skill cannot be improved through practice. But what about appraisal itself? Did that increase through training? I used it on myself again and again, but I didn't get any additional information, not even after all these years. However, I didn't have enough EXP to level Appraisal up to level 1, let alone advanced rank, so I kept my EXP for now. Since I went into the forest more often with Kira and occasionally encountered wild animals that we had to fight, I definitely got more EXP. Once I had enough for Level 1 in Appraisal, I'll invest them in it. Hopefully I could then see more information in my status.

Next I got up and left our hut. Then I went to the others and told them everything had worked out. Thea cheered for me and the celebration continued late into the night. I kept quiet about the second change I felt within myself because I knew neither the reason nor the effect. I didn't even know if I would ever find out.
