Infiltrating The Heroes – How I Got Encountered By The Hero Party Multiple Times Despite Being Their Enemy
Chapter 165: Finally Some Answers – Part 2
POV Eliza
I waited in front of the window for my announced visitors and thought about things. There was nothing else I could do anyway. I was forbidden to move. In addition, my ribs still hurt when I put weight on them. My arm in splints also made it impossible. As a result, time passed very slowly and I was bored. What good were memories of my former life on Earth to me when we were clearly not on Earth here? Furthermore, there seemed to be no technology based on electricity. My medical knowledge was only of limited use to me, but at least my experience with rehabilitation was beneficial. That should help me recover more quickly from my injuries. For the rest, I needed answers from other people.
So I waited for visitors, sitting in my chair. I could hardly wait and was nervous. Yesterday, Betty had taken me completely by surprise and I was overwhelmed by the whole situation. Today was different because today I was able to prepare myself mentally.
Then I heard someone approaching. I was a little irritated that the door didn't open immediately, even though the person was running. How good were my ears? This caused me to react slowly, and I only turned around when the door actually opened. Betty, the catwoman, was standing in the doorway. She seemed to be in a good mood, because she had a smile on her face and her eyes were shining. I wondered again how well she knew me. My concussion was still causing me problems, but my memory would surely return soon.
“Hello, Leo. How are you today? As promised, I brought the two men with me.” Betty
“Hello, Betty. I'm feeling better than yesterday, even though I still feel a little tired. I'm sure I'll need some more time before I'm fully recovered.” Eliza
“I'm glad to hear that. I still can't believe I'm seeing you alive again. The shock of losing you still gnaws at my conscience. After all, it's our fault that it came to this.” Betty
“How about you tell me what happened first? Then my memory will surely come back.” Eliza
“I'd be happy to, but let's wait for the two men. Hey, you two, hurry up! We're waiting!” Betty, calling into the hallway
“Yes, yes, we're coming. Stay calm. You're disturbing the other patients.” Man
A short time later, two men appeared in the doorway. Judging by his clothing, one of them was a person of higher standing. The second person, on the other hand, wore simpler clothing. Both were around 20 years old and human. Race seemed to play an important role here, as I already knew two non-humans, Betty and myself.
“It's good to see you so lively. We were very worried and thought you were done for.” Man
"I feel the same way. But I'm amazed and delighted. The way the minotaur caught you would certainly have killed me instantly. Betty has already told us about your injuries. She also mentioned that you suffered a serious head injury and may be suffering from amnesia. Then it would certainly make sense for us to introduce ourselves. My name is Duke and this is Bishop. Our real names are in the past, so don't ask." Duke
"And you already know my name is Betty. But before we answer your questions, we should take care of your wounds first. Bishop, would you be so kind?" Betty
“Of course. I'll take the liberty.” Bishop
Bishop approached me and placed his hand on my arm. Then he spoke words that made no sense. But I felt a strange energy emanating from him. After that, I felt a tingling sensation in my arm.
“Test your arm. With my spell, the fracture should be healed if it was a simple fracture.” Bishop
Spell? Magic, then? Was it magic that I felt? In any case, I took the sling and felt the area with my other arm. It felt normal and there was no pressure pain. I then moved it carefully.
“I don't feel anything unusual. What did you do?” Eliza
“That was magic, Leo. Our Bishop here is a priest and has control over healing magic. So it shouldn't be a problem for him to treat your other injuries. Right?” Betty
“You can count on me. It's the least I can do for Leo after I couldn't do anything for her in the maze.” Bishop
I didn't say anything in the meantime and just listened. Any information I could get would be useful later. Bishop cast the spell on me two more times, once on my ribs and once on my head. Both times, I felt the strange energy again. If it was a spell, it must really be magic. Could I learn it too, or did I already possess it? I had to find out. Being able to use magic sounded very exciting.
In the meantime, Bishop had used his healing magic two more times and didn't seem satisfied. I looked at him questioningly. Bishop thought for a moment, carefully touched my head, and then cast another spell. I immediately felt my exhaustion subside noticeably.
“Thank you. What was that last one? My exhaustion has improved, although my slight headache is still there.” Eliza
"The first spells were intended to repair injuries such as broken bones or damaged tendons. But I noticed that the spell had little effect on your head injury. So I chose a spell to heal damaged muscles. That was apparently the right decision, since you felt an effect. You should be well enough to leave the hospital with us today. The headache will probably get better on its own in the near future." Bishop
“That's great, Leo. I'm so happy for you.” Betty
Betty immediately gave me a big hug, and sure enough, I no longer felt any pain from her touch. I smiled and was happy about the treatment. On Earth, my recovery would have taken several weeks, plus even longer rehab on top of that. This had taken just a matter of minutes.
“Can I do that too? I mean healing magic?” Eliza
“No, only people with light magic, such as priests and white mages, can do that. At least that's how it is with us humans. I don't know how it is with elves or beastkin, but I assume there are some among them who can use it too.” Bishop
"In the Empire, only priests can do it. Light magic is only widespread in the Church of Lumos and can only be learned from them." Duke
“I'm so glad I know you, Bishop. Without you, Leo would have had to stay here longer.” Betty
“There are white mages here too, Betty. Have you forgotten that we can use their services for a fee?” Bishop
“You said it, for a fee. It's so high that we could never afford it, even if we wanted to. That's why it's very practical to have your own healer.” Betty
“So I'm only here to heal you. Now I know how you feel about me.” Bishop, teasingly
"No, no, no, that's not what I mean at all. You're much more important than that. You know what I mean and how grateful I am to you." Betty, agitated
“Laugh, I know. I just wanted to tease you.” Bishop, amused.
“Pout!” Betty.
“You get along really well. I'm glad.” Eliza.
“That's right, and you're part of it.” Betty, smiling.
“But the question Leo just asked needs a more detailed answer.” Duke
“Which one, Duke?” Betty
“About her abilities. Leo only asked about healing magic, but if we tell her what skills she has, it might help her with her memories. Just like our names.” Duke
"You're so smart, Duke. You really are the brain of the group. Betty
“Everyone does what they do best. Do you still have the note we got from the guild? I mean the one with her most important values?” Duke
“Yes, wait a minute, I must have it here somewhere. Which bag did I put it in? Oh, here it is. Here, Leo, you'd better take a look at it yourself.” Betty
Betty handed me a piece of paper about the size of A5. I could even read what was written on it, even though it wasn't in any language I could identify. Nevertheless, I understood it without any problems. That meant that I, or rather my body, could read and understand the language. What did it say?

I saw a lot of values, but I couldn't make much sense of them. The only things I could really make sense of were the name and age. My minor difficulties with the name were still there though. Somehow it felt wrong, but I couldn't quite put my finger on why. My age was 18. That made me a few years younger than on Earth. I asked the others to explain the other things to me.
“What am I supposed to do with this information? I don't understand half of it and can't quite figure out the other half. Is that a lot or not? But apparently I can use magic. I have mana points and Air Magic? What can I do with that?” Eliza
"I'll start with the information at the top. Race, gender, age, and name are self-explanatory. Level 50 is the maximum most people can ever reach in their lifetime. To increase your level further, you need to improve your class. In your case, that's Swiftblade. Swiftblade is already an improved class, presumably from Scout, and is based on agility.
To improve your class, you need either Development Points or a lot of training. You can get Development Points in dungeons. Dungeons are like labyrinths, only bigger. Here in Hartdome City, there is a labyrinth, but no dungeon. The nearest dungeons are to the east and southwest. We don't know if you have any Development Points or how many you have. There is a skill called Appraisal that you can use to find out. Unfortunately, you don't have it at advanced level or higher. As far as I know, you can't use it at basic level, and most people don't have the skill at all. The guilds have this skill, which is how we got the data on the note in the first place.
I can't say much about Air Magic. None of us have learned it, and we've rarely seen you cast spells. However, you said you can use it to increase your speed and agility or see and hear better." Duke
“I see. That means I'm already pretty strong, right? I mean, I'm level 50 and I have magic.” Eliza
“Yes, you are. Isn't that great?” Betty
“You also have very good stats in other areas. Your strength is slightly below average, while your agility and intuition are significantly higher than most people. The rest is average. The same applies to HP, SP, and MP.” Duke
“I'm amazed by the XP. Especially how much you need to reach level 50. We still have a long way to go.” Betty
“Yes, that's right. I suspect Leo might still have some that she hasn't spent. Leo, you should know that the experience points listed there are the ones you've earned so far in your life. You convert these into skills or similar things. However, your skills seem to be too low for you to have spent them all. But we can talk about that in more detail later.” Duke
“Does that mean I can't earn any more XP? Or will they be converted into other things so they don't go to waste?” Eliza
“As far as I know, you won't get any more. But I'm not sure. Do you know more, Bishop? Or the Church?” Duke
"I don't know either. The Church certainly knows more, but I don't. Sorry." Bishop
[Problem detected. Running investigation.]
I suddenly heard a computer voice in my head. I looked around but couldn't see anything. What does that mean?
[Investigation completed. Intervention necessary. Installing new skill.]
Again. What was happening here?
“Leo, is something wrong? Are you looking for something?” Betty
“You probably think I'm crazy, but I've heard a voice in my head several times. Is that normal?” Eliza
"No, that's not normal. It must be the strain. You're not fully recovered yet. Okay, folks, that's it for questions for now. Give her and us some time to rest." Bishop
“Then we should go home. Come on, Leo, I'll help you.” Betty
I left the hospital with the others. The rest could wait until later. But the computer voice in my head worried me.
