Chapter 132: Purify Undead

We rode to the Dark Dungeon a few days later, better prepared this time. Eli had learned a spell to exorcize the undead. A clear advantage in the fight against undead, which were the only monsters in the Darkness Dungeon. The only thing that was unclear was whether we would get all the EXP we needed. But even if that wasn't the case, it made every boss fight child's play. It also made the Liches less dangerous. In addition, both Eli and Javier had improved their buff spells, so we didn't have to be on site for long. The goal was the boss fight on floor 30. There was no point in going any lower except to farm EXP, as we couldn't use the steles in any meaningful way. To do this, we first had to level up or change our class.

We set up camp in front of the dungeon and took some provisions with us. It took a long time to return from floor 20 and above, as we could only teleport every 10 floors. It was therefore necessary to be well prepared. We left it up to the soldiers whether they wanted to follow us to collect the mana cores.

In the dungeon, Eli lit the way for us and we made very good progress. By now, all floors up to 20 were no longer a problem at all and we did the third boss fight, which we hadn't done on our last visit. Our time in the nature dungeon had made us stronger. As we stood in front of the stele, we realized that we would soon have a problem. We had already considered in advance that we couldn't spend any unnecessary EXP at the moment in view of our class change. We therefore saved the development point without upgrading a skill at great expense.

The same applied to the following floors. From here on, Eli used her new spell Purify Undead. This allowed her to destroy a single undead directly. She used it to finish off the Lichs in particular. As a result, the fourth boss fight was no great challenge. We also saved the point at the stele.

After that, we stayed in the dungeon for another week to level up comfortably. The soldiers who accompanied us took care of the mana crystals. They had brought a specialist with them to collect them. In the meantime, we managed to defeat the fifth boss and advance further. Eli's spell was very useful. Before the sixth boss fight, we met for a final strategy meeting.

"We leveled well. Even though I thought it would be a bit more. Anyway, we all collected enough EXP to increase more skills to tier 10. We have instructors for that in Lightburg. After this boss fight, we should go back and take care of our class advancement." <Cornelius>

"How about we go somewhere else afterwards? I'm sick of the two dungeons here and want to see something different." <Ansgar>

"Hmm, that sounds good. Although the dungeons we still know aren't that easy to get to. I'd save the two in the south for later, as they're too far away. That leaves the Lightning Dungeon in the north." <Javier>

"Reasonable objections from you. Let's plan in more detail in Lightburgh, now that it's summer. It's a good idea to go north as it's cooler there than here. Any objections? None? Wonderful, on to our next battle." <Cornelius>

We then went into the boss room. Although the boss was a lich and blasted us with powerful spells, we came out with reasonable damage thanks to Eli. Ansgar couldn't disarm the trap, so we left it untouched. We left the room through the back door and stood in front of the exit to the 31st level. Next to it was the portal to the surface in the wall. After a brief consultation, we stepped through it and stood outside the dungeon. This shortcut enabled us to descend directly to floor 31. Very practical.

Our return journey to Lightburgh is uneventful. We reported to Cardinal Hernsen at both the palace and the church and received some news in return. In the cathedral, we learned how we could improve our skill limit break. It could be improved through meditation and contact with Lumos, as otherwise no human could serve as a teacher.

To level up and change classes, you also had to meditate and then concentrate. Both alternatives required 10 development points each. Anything other than the class change was out of the question for us, as this gave us more potential for later growth. As we had defeated enough bosses in the two dungeons, we had the ten together.

In the palace, we learned that another expedition to excavate a slave camp was planned for the next few days. We were free to decide whether we wanted to take part.
