Indestructible Body Of Vajra Of The Village Leader
Chapter 1986 - 1513: No Night in Daylight City! Madness!
At this moment, from the other entrances, the sound of drums and music came faintly drifting over. Under the sharp, shrill announcement of a Palace Supervisor clearing the way, apart from Lingyun Pavilion Sect Leader Hu Fei, who had already gone to the Sky to replace Dugu Qiubai in guarding it, the other three Sect Leaders of the Four Great Sects also arrived one after another.
After that came the five top-tier families, including the He Family.
Following Chen Xin’s arrangements, Jiang Dali descended at the wide and luxurious Observation Platform of the Hundred Heroes Association and stepped out from his sedan chair.
This place faced south from the north, directly above the thousand-zhang arena, allowing one to overlook everything below. The floor was paved with thick, soft carpets, and hundreds of palace lamps had already been lit in all directions, making it bright as day.
At the southernmost position stood a dragon throne carved with dragons and inlaid with crystals, naturally the seat of the Regent King.
And slightly to the rear on its left hand side was another seat carved with a purple python and set with gold.
Aside from these two positions in the foremost first row, all other seats were arranged in tiers, each layer slightly higher and farther back.
"Ah!"
Lu Xiaofeng’s eyes lit up. Pointing at that seat carved with the purple python, he said, "I reckon that seat should be yours, Old Jiang, right? Otherwise I really can’t imagine who besides you would have the right to sit there."
"Greetings to Marquis Wei Wu!"
Just then, a female official in charge led a group of maids and attendants, stepping lightly with jade-like feet, graceful and charming, to stand before Jiang Dali and the others. She first performed a grand salute toward Jiang Dali.
Then she saluted Chen Xin.
The female official’s clothes were rather revealing. Her tight, embroidered robe with round collar and straight lapel had slits from the arms down to the thighs, not only displaying her fine figure completely, but with the slightest bend of her body one could glimpse white, snowy scenery. Lu Xiaofeng couldn’t help blowing out his beard as he watched.
In just a moment, Lu Xiaofeng had already struck up a conversation with the female official, and the group followed her, all polite smiles, as they departed.
Wan Wan and the others, including many Disciples of the Beast Taming House, were all attendees of the gathering and had no qualification to remain on the Observation Platform, so they were courteously invited out by the attendants.
Just as Lu Xiaofeng had said, Jiang Dali’s seat was indeed the one to the left of the dragon throne, incomparably exalted.
In the Mixed Martial Arts World, unlike the Supreme Alliance, since ancient times men sit on the left and women on the right, with men honored and women humbled. When high officials and nobles feast honored guests, they also reserve the left seat as a sign of respect. From the seating arrangement, it was evident the Regent King had placed his Level even above that of the Four Sect Leaders.
He was in no rush to sit down, because at that moment already more than a dozen powerful auras were approaching this side. Among them, two were very familiar, namely He Jin and that Sect Leader of the Venerate Dao Department, Li Menghun.
Clearly the other formidable auras were from Yuanting Pavilion, the Sheji Platform, and either the five top-tier families or some Holy Dynasty dignitaries.
The Holy Dynasty likely had only around twenty experts at Returning to Truth Level 9 and above, and for this Hundred Heroes Association, nearly half had come. It was truly a grand event.
"Looks like we’ve arrived too early. Your Highness the Regent King will probably be the last to appear."
Feeling the dozen powerful auras rapidly closing in, Chen Xin couldn’t help his heart beating faster, yet he still forced himself to remain composed, smiling as he spoke to Jiang Dali.
Although he was the Chief of the Beast Taming House, in terms of status he even surpassed the Family Heads of the top-tier families, only half a notch below the Sect Leaders of the Four Great Sects. But his failure to attain the strength of Returning to Truth Level 9 was extremely awkward, leaving him lacking confidence.
"Chief Chen, why don’t you go rest a while to the side?"
Jiang Dali gave a faint smile and glanced at Chen Xin.
Chen Xin’s smile stiffened slightly, then he immediately shook his head and laughed. "Thank you for your concern, Marquis, but there’s no need. I see everyone else has arrived as well; in a while I’ll make introductions for you."
This sentence clearly expressed that he would not distance himself from Jiang Dali.
Come on—since they had already chosen to send this Marquis here with such high-specifications escort, flying in formation, it meant they were already prepared to "take sides" in a certain direction; how could they now start wavering and shrinking back at the last moment?
"Hahahahaha..."
Just then, a peal of laughter that made the eardrums ache came from the steps.
A figure thin as a Long Bamboo Pole strode forward with a dragon’s gait and a tiger’s steps, awe-inspiring and oppressive, taking the lead as he approached laughing. Behind him, figures passed by the solemn, motionless guards and soldiers, some closely following, some strolling from afar, clearly harboring different thoughts.
As that leading figure drew closer, his voice rang out heartily: "Marquis Wei Wu must be here in Daylight City watching the grand event of the Hundred Heroes Association for the first time, right? No wonder you arrived faster than us old fogeys! I am Ling Yun of Yuanting Pavilion. Your great name, Marquis, I’ve long admired!"
"Spirit Cloud Sect Master! Among the Four Sect Leaders, by comparing past battle records, his strength ranks second only to Master Hu Fei’s. The Martial Arts he cultivates are the Hell Vajra Scripture obtained from the Emperor’s Treasure Vault. Though he seems as skinny as a Long Bamboo Pole, he can at any moment transform into a big man of burly stature. His fighting style is also similar to yours, Marquis, and this man is likewise someone whose outward roughness and boldness hides considerable scheming..."
Chen Xin immediately used spiritual voice transmission to kindly remind Jiang Dali.
"By comparing old battle records, huh... looks like he hasn’t made a move in a long while. That matches the intelligence provided by the He Family. But what do you mean ’likewise someone whose outward... actually...’"
Jiang Dali slanted a glance at Chen Xin, his gaze indifferent as he looked at the ’Long Bamboo Pole’ striding toward him.
He saw that the man sported a goatee, with a bald, hairless pate on top, yet long hair draped over his shoulders around it. His skin was dark, his eyes like lightning, and he wore a thick Armor that looked part leather, part iron. He exuded a savage aura of utterly not putting anyone in his eyes.
"Hey! Chief Chen, you’re muttering away again, saying some bad things about me, aren’t you?"
The Spirit Sect Master Ling Yun’s eyes flashed like lightning as they swept past Jiang Dali, then slowly passed over Chen Xin. Suddenly he barked, his thin face with its eyes bulging like jet-black Beads, fierce and protruding, his Momentum overbearing.
