Incubus Lord: Lust Harem System
Chapter 297: The Rules
Chapter 297: Chapter 297: The Rules
King Aurelius Solaris raised his hand and the arena fell silent.
"The tournament will follow a three-day war format," he said.
His voice carried across the coliseum without effort, each word landing like a hammer blow on the ears of every cultivator present.
"Day one begins with the Round of 32. Sixteen elimination team battles. Lose and you’re out."
Damon watched the other sect leaders shift in their seats.
Sixteen teams would enter on the first day.
Only eight would survive.
"Day two brings the Round of 16 in the morning and the Quarterfinals in the afternoon. By sunset, only four teams remain."
The crowd murmured.
Two days of brutal elimination.
Only the strongest would reach the final day.
"Day three. Semifinals in the morning. The Grand Championship Final at noon."
King Aurelius paused, letting the weight of his words settle over the arena.
"The last team standing claims the prize."
Damon’s mind was already working through the implications.
Three days of continuous combat. No rest between rounds. The teams that fought early would have to recover quickly or face fresh opponents.
The format favored endurance.
It favored depth.
It favored a team that could rotate fighters effectively.
The King continued.
"Each sect will submit an ordered roster of seven fighters before their each match."
He gestured toward the imperial scribes who stood at the edge of the stage with scrolls and brushes ready.
"The order cannot be changed once submitted."
Damon’s eyes narrowed.
That was the key.
The order determined everything.
"The match format is simple," King Aurelius said. "One fighter from each sect enters the stage. They fight until one is defeated, yields, or dies."
He let the words hang in the air.
"The winner remains on the stage. The next fighter from the opposing sect enters immediately."
The crowd understood.
Continuous combat. No breaks. No time to recover.
A single fighter could potentially clear an entire team if they were strong enough.
"The match continues until all seven fighters from one sect are defeated. The surviving sect advances."
Damon glanced at Ariel.
She met his gaze and nodded.
They had discussed this possibility during their training.
The last man standing format was brutal, but it played to their strengths.
Mio and Mia could wear down opponents with their speed and precision.
Ariel could control the battlefield with her water techniques.
Seraphina could provide sustained pressure with her Azure Dragon Bloodline. Flare could unleash devastating bursts of fire power.
Alena could support with alchemy and healing.
Lumina could finish with overwhelming light attacks.
And Damon...
Damon could close any fight.
King Aurelius raised his hand again.
"There are two rules that cannot be broken."
His voice hardened.
"First. Killing intent is legal within the arena. If you cannot protect yourself, you do not belong here."
The arena stirred.
Some cultivators shifted uncomfortably.
Others grinned with bloodthirsty anticipation.
"Second. If a fighter yields, the match stops immediately. Any attack after a yield is grounds for disqualification of the entire team."
Damon filed that away.
A safety net.
But one that required the loser to admit defeat.
In a tournament like this, pride often outweighed survival.
"Outside interference is forbidden," King Aurelius continued.
"Any sect member who intervenes in a match that is not their own will be executed on the spot by the Imperial Guard."
He gestured toward the armored figures stationed around the arena.
Each one radiated King Spirit Realm cultivation.
Damon counted thirty-two of them.
Enough to crush any sect that broke the rules.
"The rules are simple. The consequences are absolute."
King Aurelius lowered his hand.
"The tournament begins at dawn tomorrow. Submit your rosters to the imperial scribes before your first match."
He turned and walked back to the royal box.
The arena erupted into noise.
Sect leaders shouted orders to their disciples. Teams huddled together to discuss strategy. The crowd buzzed with excitement and speculation.
Damon stood still.
He watched the Crimson Eclipse box.
Alistair Reventon was speaking to Kai, his hand on Kai’s shoulder, his expression calm and calculating.
Kai nodded slowly, his sharp features settling into an expression of cold acknowledgment.
Then he turned his head deliberately and looked directly at Damon.
Their eyes met across the vast, open arena.
The distance between them was filled with the noise of the crowd, the shuffling of disciples, and the clatter of weapons being readied.
But neither Damon nor Kai seemed to notice any of it.
Kai smiled.
It was a cold, predatory smile that promised violence.
His lips curled with the confidence of a man who believed he had the upper hand, who believed that this time, things would be different.
There was no warmth in that expression—only the chilling certainty of a predator sizing up his prey.
Damon returned it with a calm, steady gaze.
He had already killed Kai once.
He could do it again.
The memory of their first encounter flashed through Damon’s mind—the clash of their techniques, the look of utter disbelief on Kai’s face as Damon’s blade found its mark.
That had been a decisive victory. This time would be no different.
Ariel touched his arm.
"Damon."
He turned to her, his expression softening slightly at the sight of her worried face.
"The Crimson Eclipse team is strong," she said, her vivid blue eyes scanning the distant box where Kai stood.
"Seven King Spirit Realm fighters. That’s not a coincidence."
"It’s not," Damon agreed, his voice low and thoughtful.
"They planned this. Every member of their team was selected specifically for this tournament. They’ve been preparing for months, maybe years."
Mio stepped closer, her ponytail swishing behind her.
"We can take them."
Mia nodded quietly from beside her twin, her deep purple eyes glinting with determination.
Selene joined them, her expression serious.
The air around her seemed to grow colder as she assessed the enemy formation.
"The order matters," she said, her frosty gaze fixed on the Crimson Eclipse box.
"If we send our strongest first, they’ll be exhausted by the time we reach their heavy hitters."
Damon nodded.
"I know."
Behind them, the Crimson Eclipse team watched.
And in the royal box, King Aurelius Solaris observed everything with cold, calculating eyes.
