Immortality Starts With Selling Pills
Chapter 105: Enhanced Being Stage
Chapter 105: Chapter 105: Enhanced Being Stage
Derrick cut the line, wiping his footprints from the firm’s system in a split second.
Back in the sky tower, Vance sat at his desk, staring at his computer screen in complete silence.
A few moments later, the door opened and Madalyn walked back inside.
She had successfully sent the bald lawyer packing.
"What just happened?" Madalyn asked, looking at Vance with concern. "Who was that?"
Vance sighed and told her everything the mysterious caller had said.
Madalyn listened carefully, her eyes growing wider with every detail.
"So what are you going to do now?" she asked quietly.
"What else can I do?" Vance replied, leaning back in his chair. "I have to take a gamble."
He looked down at the documents on his screen.
"Myriad Pill Palace is a goldmine. Every big client in this city wants a piece of them."
"If I can secure their legal business, it will do good things for us and the firm."
"They might not be the biggest business in the world right now but neither was my first client. I want to stand on the board as they make their name in the world."
He paused for a second and added, "Besides, the owner actually seems like a pretty chill guy."
Madalyn stared at him like he had lost his mind and rolled her eyes hard.
"Are you for real right now?" she snapped, crossing her arms.
"He literally just blackmailed you! How is he any different from Blackwood?"
Vance chuckled softly and shook his head.
"Oh, they are completely different."
"Blackwood squeezed us because he enjoyed using his power to force people to bow down to him."
"But this guy? He did it because he had no other choice to protect himself."
"Or maybe he did have choices and I’m totally wrong," Vance admitted with a small grin.
"But one thing is for sure. This is going to be a fun deal."
Madalyn rolled her eyes again and slumped heavily into the chair across from his desk.
Seeing her drop all professionalism and act so lazy, Vance felt his lips twitch.
"So," Vance asked, changing the subject. "What did that Harrison want anyway?"
Madalyn let out a long sigh, sinking even deeper into the soft leather cushion.
"Harrison wanted to know why you were blocking off your morning schedule," she said, waving her hand dismissively.
"He was trying to snoop around and see if you were secretly picking up a new big-shot client behind his back."
Vance snorted, a sharp, amused look entering his eyes.
"Well, Harrison was actually right for once," Vance said, tapping the desk terminal.
"He just has no idea how big this client will eventually become to be."
He glanced at the digital clock ticking in the corner of his monitor.
The sixty-minute countdown was already running.
"Madalyn, get up," Vance said, his demeanor instantly shifting back into top-tier lawyer mode.
"Call our head of regulatory affairs and pull up the fast-track registration forms for new commercial entities."
Madalyn blinked, surprised by how fast he had bounced back from the terrifying threat.
"You’re actually going to try and beat his sixty-minute timer?" she asked, leaning forward.
"I don’t plan on working for anyone for free, Madalyn," Vance said with a confident smirk.
"Not even a mysterious ghost who holds my life in his hands."
Madalyn stared at him for a second before a small grin crept onto her face too.
"Fine," she said, standing up and grabbing her tablet. "I’ll take on the challenge with you as well."
Back at the apartment, Derrick sat across from Keira, discussing her grandfather’s condition.
He told her flat out that what the alchemist had said earlier was actually true.
There really were two conflicting foreign energies clashing wildly inside the old man’s body.
Keira leaned back into her chair and let out a long, strained sigh, rubbing her temples.
She looked at him and asked what he thought about the alchemist and his treatment methods.
Derrick rejected the alchemist’s methods instantly without a second thought.
"That guy is completely shady," Derrick said coldly.
"I don’t know the exact effects of the fluid in that syringe, but I saw a strange sinister energy inside it."
"It matches the exact same weird energy flowing inside your grandpa."
"I can’t confirm what it will actually do to him, but taking whatever that man is offering is a terrible idea."
"That cockless bastard!" Keira cursed out loud, slamming her hand onto the desk.
Her eyes flickered with a sudden, suffocating killing intent.
The sheer aura was so intense that even Derrick felt his heart drumming hard against his ribs.
She didn’t doubt a single word Derrick said.
"I knew that bastard was up to no good," she growled through gritted teeth.
She took a breath, forcing her dangerous aura back down, and looked at Derrick.
"I’ll handle that alchemist personally," she said. "Do you have anything that can actually help my grandpa?"
Derrick nodded.
"I have an Evil Termination Pill," Derrick offered. "It can purge foreign and evil energies from the body."
"It works perfectly on anyone at the Superpower stage—"
"That’s not enough," Keira interrupted, her voice grim as she shook her head.
"My grandpa isn’t at the Superpower stage anymore."
"He already crossed that realm a long time ago and reached the level far beyond it."
Derrick had no information about the realms beyond Super Power Realm. There was no public information on said realms.
Derrick raised an eyebrow, curious about what lay beyond.
"What is that realm called?" he asked.
Keira hesitated for a second, tapping her fingers against the desk.
"Since you’re already close to reaching the Enhanced Being Stage, I suppose you should know about it," she said slowly.
"It’s called the Golden Pill Stage."
She looked at him with a serious expression.
"Only a tiny handful of people in the entire world have ever reached that level, and my grandpa is one of them."
Derrick kept his face neutral, but quickly opened his system store in his mind.
He searched through the inventory to see if he could buy an Evil Termination Pill suited for the Golden Pill Stage.
A cold system prompt immediately popped up before his eyes.
[Error: Information and items regarding the Golden Pill Stage are locked.]
[User must break through to the Enhanced Being Stage to unlock higher-tier pills.]
Derrick closed the interface, suppressing a sigh.
He was going to need to level up if he wanted to save the old man.
It seems like it is about time for me to breakthrough and advance to the Enhanced Being Stage.
