Immortality by Merit and Sin Coins
Chapter 228: Three In, Three Out, Forging My Path as a Demon Monarch
Chapter 228 -124: Three In, Three Out, Forging My Path as a Demon Monarch
Because of their Wind-Riding Mountain Patrol, the Golden Core Immortal Descendants of the Yu Family could come and go as they pleased. This made their corpses the most expensive among Immortal Descendants of the same Realm!
He let out a breath.
The Cloud Dragon Demon Monarch didn’t reply, just glanced silently at the fierce tiger.
‘He failed to get the Mountain God Mirror. The tiger’s about to go berserk.’
‘Instead of thinking about how to kill Yu Qiheng, I should figure out how to deal with this mad tiger first.’
Just then, Demon Monarch Hong Ling’s pupils widened again, and she whispered, “My god…”
“Hm?”
The Cloud Dragon Demon Monarch snapped his head up to look.
There, far in the distance, a dark figure hung silently in the sky, quietly blocking the Cyan Simurgh’s path.
His sinister Profound Armor was still in tatters, yet the young man stood tall and straight.
Across the vast sea of clouds, he looked down on Yu Qiheng below.
His hair whipped wildly in the wind. His face was fair and handsome, but his crimson eyes were apathetic and cold, like a Fierce Wolf staring ruthlessly at its prey.
He raised his arm again, fingers splayed in a gesture of suppression.
In his palm, the ancient Treasure Mirror rotated slowly, its surface already brimming with Golden Light.
“No, don’t!”
Yu Qiheng finally saw that face clearly.
He was so stunned it took him a moment to even remember the man’s name.
This was the ant he had dismissed, someone utterly beneath his notice.
But now, Yu Qiheng felt no shock, no anger, no arrogance—only a terror so profound it nearly drove him mad.
‘He never fled at all! He just hid somewhere to let the Mountain God Mirror gather its power again.’
“No!!” This Immortal’s voice was now tinged with a sharp, mournful wail.
‘I haven’t even finished digesting Heng yet! My Realm isn’t stable, and there’s so much room for my status in the family to improve.’
‘I was destined to become a family elder, on par with Young Master Qi himself.’
‘How can this be happening! How is this possible! To die in this barren Border Region!’
…
The golden pillar reappeared in the world of mortals.
Stretching from the heavens down to the mountains.
It brazenly engulfed the terrified, ancient Cyan Simurgh!
[The wicked get rich while the righteous die poor. One Spiritual Object slain. Reward: 8,000 Sin Coins, with a bonus of one mace of Karma Fire Gold Essence.]
Lin Shu paid no mind to Yu Qiheng’s corpse. He didn’t even glance at his reward, instead immediately activating the Wind-Riding Mountain Patrol.
His first strike was meant to cripple the Golden Core Immortal Descendant, preventing him from using the Wind-Riding Mountain Patrol in pursuit.
‘After all, even if I had taken the Mountain God Mirror silently, the man probably would have sensed it. He might even have some connection to the mirror.’
‘Even with the same Divine Technique, the gap in our Cultivation was too vast.’
‘I wasn’t confident I could escape.’
As for the second strike… that was because Lin Shu realized the Mountain God Mirror still had plenty of power left.
Plus, Yu Qiheng’s injuries seemed even more severe than he’d first thought.
The Calamity-Crossing Cyan Simurgh Statue had already devoured the souls of two Core Formation Immortal Descendants, but if it could consume a Golden Core’s, its upper limit would soar to a far more terrifying level.
Not to mention the massive amount of Sin Coins.
No matter how he looked at it, it was a gamble worth taking!
His cautious retreat after the attack was to guard against the Golden-striped Profound Tiger.
Just as he’d expected, after dodging the blast of Golden Light, Zhao Zhiyue crossed the vast sea of clouds in a single breath.
“ROAR!”
This Golden Core Powerhouse now erupted with a power several times greater than he had shown in the earlier Magical Combat.
Roaring, he swiped his claws and scattered the wisp of clear wind.
No figure materialized—just a red mist in the wind, carrying the faint scent of blood.
But for some unknown reason, the scent of blood seemed disconnected from its owner, making it impossible to track or divine.
…
Zhao Zhiyue looked around in a daze, not noticing the two long streaks of red and white light hurtling towards him from behind.
“You’re asking to die!”
The woman’s expression was savage. With a grasping motion of her hand, blood-red Spiritual Power solidified into a long ribbon of silk, which violently cinched around the tiger’s neck.
As she pulled with both arms, the powerful, fierce tiger was yanked backward off its feet.
Then Bai Hong, like a flash of a sword, instantly sliced open its neck.
Assaulted by two Demon Monarchs at once, Zhao Zhiyue cried out in pain. But he kept staring dead ahead, his eyes nearly splitting from their sockets, his voice a thunderous roar. “He got away again! He got away again!”
There is no greater sorrow than to see a glimmer of hope in the depths of despair, only to have it snuffed out once more.
A mad frenzy filled the Golden-striped Profound Tiger’s eyes.
“I see it now! This was your plan all along! You never meant for me to take the Mountain God Mirror. You were just using me to capture Yongzhou Pass!”
It swiped its claws, violently shredding the red silk.
During the earlier Magical Combat, it had mostly been watching from the sidelines. Aside from being knocked away by Yu Qiheng, it was still practically at its peak.
The two Demon Monarchs, on the other hand, were a different story. Even Hong Ling, who was in better shape, had already used up most of her Demon Power.
The Cloud Dragon Demon Monarch was already heavily injured.
Even two against one, the best they could hope for was to defend themselves. Winning, let alone killing it, was almost impossible.
“Tell me! Where did you let him hide?”
“Tell me now!”
The three figures instantly clashed, the force of their battle once again making the sky itself tremble and change color.
The Cloud Dragon Demon Monarch wanted to know the answer to that question as well.
‘Fellow Lin only has a Core Formation Cultivation, yet he took a blow from that Golden Core tiger. Even if he managed to dodge ninety percent of the Magical Power, the remaining ten percent should have been more than enough to kill him.’
‘He’d been lucky to get away and would desperately need to stop and heal.’
‘And that was exactly why I couldn’t let Zhao Zhiyue leave.’
“Talk! Just tell me!”
“Where the hell did he run to?!”
The Golden-striped Profound Tiger lunged forward, trying to give chase toward the pass.
The woman’s face was pale, but she kept its limbs tightly bound with her red silk. “Cloud Dragon, can you still fight or not? Don’t get me killed!”
“I can.”
The Cloud Dragon Demon Monarch gritted his teeth. The longsword in his hand trembled slightly—a sign that his strength was giving out.
But just then, the color suddenly returned to his face, like a final, fleeting resurgence of vitality.
Just then, all three of them froze.
Before them, not far in the distance, a blood-red mist suddenly began to spread.
Within the Fog, a figure’s silhouette slowly sharpened into focus.
…
The one who appeared was drenched in crimson. His hair, matted with blood, was plastered to his skin.
His Profound Black Demon Armor was in pieces, hanging like scraps from his lean, chiseled frame.
Across his chest were several horrific gashes, deep enough to expose bone, that ran from his right shoulder all the way to his abdomen. A dark light still clung to the wounds.
Despite such ghastly injuries, the young man didn’t look defeated in the slightest.
Because he was smiling.
On his handsome, bloodless face, the corners of his lips twisted into a savage grin.
His eyes were no longer the color of the Red Moon but had returned to their original clarity. And yet, the killing intent simmering within them was far more intense than before.
The Fierce Wolf, who repays every last grievance.
“You old bastard.”
Lin Shu lifted his chin defiantly. His voice was low and hoarse, thick with venom. “Motherfucker!”
In his palm, the Mountain God Mirror flared with light for the third time.
It was several times weaker than the previous two blasts, a clear sign that little of the Power of Mountains and Rivers remained within it.
That was why he had chosen a much closer distance.
Only thirty yards!
Close enough for Zhao Zhiyue to reach him with a single swipe of his claws.
However, the instant the tiger raised his claw, the Golden Light had already slammed squarely into his face.
BOOM! BOOM!
With a deafening roar, the Profound Tiger plummeted through the clouds, shattering a mountain ridge upon impact. It lay twitching among the collapsed peaks, its body wreathed in crackling plasma.
Lin Shu was gasping heavily, his body on the verge of collapse. Without looking back, he gave a wave. “I’m out.”
The words had barely left his lips before he dissolved into a bloody wind and vanished over the horizon.
“Alright, now I’m genuinely impressed.”
Demon Monarch Hong Ling’s throat tightened. She clenched her fists, trying to force the image of that blood-soaked, powerful body from her mind.
It didn’t matter if he could still hear her or not.
She shouted, “Don’t you worry! If I don’t kill that bastard today, I’ll kowtow to you the next time we meet!”
With that, the Demon Monarch transformed into a crimson streak, hurtling toward the Profound Tiger with thunderous momentum.
…
The Cloud Dragon Demon Monarch stared blankly as that red mist drifted into the distance.
A trickle of blood suddenly escaped the corner of his lips.
That was the backlash from forcefully mobilizing his Demon Power to use a Secret Technique.
If he hadn’t stopped using the technique, he likely would have died here today.
But even as excruciating, soul-tearing pain wracked his body, the Demon Monarch did not look away.
Lin Shu’s figure as he departed reminded him of an old acquaintance who had been missing for a very long time.
That great lord who had dared to strike at a Night Wanderer!
‘Could it be… that you’ve returned…?’
