Chapter 226 - 123: Duchuan is Already Dead
Chapter 226: Chapter 123: Duchuan is Already Dead
"Say what you will. You demons from the Liang Kingdom are always so strange."
Demon Monarch Hong Ling waved her hand dismissively, too lazy to bother with this useless chatter.
The demons of the Great Liang Dynasty, from the Demon Generals to the Demon Kings, all acted in a bizarre manner.
She had long grown used to it.
"Something’s not right!"
Demon Monarch Hong Ling had just lowered her arm when her entire body suddenly stiffened, as if targeted by some ferocious beast.
Fear and rage suddenly surged across her wild features. She whirled to face the middle-aged man in the distance and rasped, "What’s going on?!"
Cloud Dragon’s expression shifted slightly, also startled by the sudden change.
He was silent for a few breaths. Instead of explaining, he simply stated, "I don’t know."
Yu Qiheng and Zhao Zhiyue both froze, suspended amidst the sea of clouds.
The varicolored, ferocious tiger’s face showed its terror as it rapidly retreated.
Yu Qiheng, however, after a moment of shock, seemed to realize something, and wild joy flooded his eyes.
His dejection vanished in an instant. He burst into loud laughter, "Excellent! Excellent! Duchuan! I knew I wasn’t wrong about you!"
Just a moment ago, the surrounding aura had been swiftly locked down.
A terrifying presence was brewing between heaven and earth—a surge of Spiritual Power from the mountains and rivers, ten times stronger than before!
The Mountain God Mirror couldn’t have done this on its own.
Someone must have entered the great formation and successfully taken control of it!
"You three. Isn’t it my turn now?"
Yu Qiheng’s laughter grew more maniacal, as if to vent all the frustration and resentment he had just accumulated.
’I almost forgot that I gave Yu Duchuan a Mountain God’s Token.’
’That cowardly junior finally mustered his courage and stepped up at the most critical moment.’
"I knew it. So there was someone else."
Hearing the name "Duchuan," Cloud Dragon suddenly smiled.
A young hero walking the grand path of an immortal, yet still willing to risk his life to do something for the demons.
’How could such a person run back to be a dog for the Immortal Families just for a bit of personal gain?’
’He’d been gravely underestimated.’
"..."
Demon Monarch Hong Ling was speechless, her anger flaring.
’She had indeed misunderstood the young Cultivator again, but was that really the point?’
’They were about to die!’
’It wouldn’t be so easy to evade a Mountain God Mirror controlled by someone.’
’And that old bastard Zhao Zhiyue, seeing things were going south, had hidden behind the two of them again.’
"Thinking of leaving now? Isn’t it a bit late?"
Yu Qiheng once again unfurled his massive body that blotted out the sun, looking down on the three of them from above, filled with smug triumph.
His gaze swept back and forth across the three figures like Yama calling the roll of the dead.
Finally, it landed mockingly on the middle-aged man. His booming voice echoed across the heavens, "Duchuan, first, slay that beast Cloud Dragon!"
The demons within Yongzhou Pass stopped in their tracks, horrified.
The Demon Generals on the Demon Mountain were even more thunderstruck.
What shattered their spirits completely was that, following Yu Qiheng’s words, the light over the mountain forests actually began to converge.
The wind suddenly died down. Atop the peaks, it was as if a Golden Sun was being born, blinding to behold.
"Go now."
Cloud Dragon Demon Monarch unclenched his fist and shook his head at the hesitant Hong Ling in the distance.
In his current state, he had no hope of surviving this, even with her help.
Someone had to survive to lead the demons in a retreat from Yongzhou Pass.
"She’s not getting away. This Monarch..."
Yu Qiheng sneered, his eyes already locked on the female demon.
However, his words were cut short.
A pillar of golden light as vast as the heavens illuminated the mountains. It silently pierced the sky, lasting for more than ten breaths.
"SCREEE!"
The massive Cyan Simurgh that blotted out the sun was sent tumbling through the air. Its long feathers exploded, and a surging tide of blood dyed the clouds red.
The Mountain God Mirror, suspended atop the peak, had absorbed the essence of heaven and earth day and night, storing it within itself.
Now, it had unleashed nearly half of its reserves, transforming them into a beam of unprecedentedly terrifying golden light that struck its own garrison commander.
"Hh..."
Demon Monarch Hong Ling’s expression was frozen, her pupils dilated.
Cloud Dragon Demon Monarch also looked toward the mountain peak, his face a mask of shock and doubt.
Besides these two Golden Core Great Demons, many Demon Generals closer to the grand peak also managed to catch a brief, clear glimpse of the mountaintop, illuminated by the golden light that lasted for over ten breaths.
Amidst the ivory-white jade.
A great, crimson moon hung high.
The man’s figure was tall and slender, clad in savage, broken demon armor.
His well-defined muscles were covered in glaring bloody gashes.
Black flames danced wildly, as if about to swallow the mountain peak.
He stood at the highest point of Yongzhou Pass, casually raising an arm toward the sky, his long fingers closing into a loose grip.
In his palm rested a simple, archaic bronze treasure mirror.
Faint motes of light still lingered on its blurry, indistinct surface.
