Immortal Travel of Longevity
Chapter 899: Beat the Young, Out Comes the Old
The beggar-like Daoist panted heavily, his expression grave. The Thunder Art had burned a large, charred patch into his back. Battered by the rain, he looked thoroughly wretched.
Lihua looked up again toward the dark clouds.
The thunderstorm and its turbulent Spiritual Energy gradually stabilized.
Lihua turned to look at Chen Changsheng. "Chen the Good Man, they're really weak."
Chen Changsheng patted Lihua's head. "That's because Lihua is very strong."
"Is that so?"
Lihua hadn't noticed.
It only felt that the people in front of it were incredibly weak.
The elder of Quanshan was in a wretched state, and the rest of the Quanshan Disciples were even worse off.
Some had been caught in the blast, suffering severe burns across their bodies. Others had been knocked completely unconscious by the shockwave, while the rest had been deafened by the thunder, rolling on the ground and screaming as blood oozed from their ears...The only one left standing was the Quanshan elder.
The elder was known as Daoist Sanyuan, named for the three origins that bring peace. In his early years, he and his fellow brothers had joined the Quanshan sect. After several years of Cultivation, he had shown some promise and eventually secured an elder's position.
Over the years, regardless of how profound his Dao Cultivation had become, he was at least a cultivator with a recognizable name in this Mortal World. Yet today, a single strike of the Thunder Art had nearly taken half his life.
Such a commotion at Quanshan had also stirred up quite a disturbance.
All the cultivators within the Quanshan temple mobilized. Elders and temple masters rose to investigate, immediately rushing toward the scene.
The commoners fetching water at the foot of the mountain were frightened out of their wits by the apocalyptic sight, fleeing for several li without looking back.
Daoist Sanyuan coughed. A trail of fresh blood spilled from the corner of his mouth. He reached up to wipe it away. "Dare I ask, fellow Daoist..."
"Why must you make an enemy of my Quanshan?"
Daoist Sanyuan knew how to assess a situation. He understood that the person before him was no simple figure. Such an expert should be befriended and absolutely never made an enemy of—and if they were an enemy, they had to be eradicated completely!
Chen Changsheng looked at the Daoist. "What does the Priest think?"
Lihua spoke up at this moment. "When you get bullied, you naturally have to hit back. Even Lihua understands this. Doesn't the Priest understand?"
Daoist Sanyuan stared blankly for a moment. He looked at the disciples lying scattered across the ground and finally understood.
Chen Changsheng stroked Lihua's forehead. "The Quanshan Disciples are truly interesting. They start a conflict, realize they are no match, and immediately call over a crowd. Relying on their numbers, they readily threaten to refine people into corpse puppets. Such grand prestige. Even the Daoist cultivators of Qingxian Temple don't throw their weight around like your Quanshan."
Daoist Sanyuan opened his mouth, then let out a soft sigh. "Fellow Daoist, my Quanshan Disciples indeed went too far, but surely it shouldn't have escalated to this."
Chen Changsheng looked at him calmly. "Aren't they all still alive and breathing?"
Daoist Sanyuan froze.
Soon after, a surge of anger rose in his heart. "Fellow Daoist, this humble Daoist has shown you courtesy, yet you actually meant to take the lives of my Quanshan Disciples?"
Daoist Sanyuan coldly eyed the man in green robes before him and continued, "My Quanshan is an Immortal Mountain and a Daoist Gate. How can we allow just anyone to step on our heads?"
Chen Changsheng's expression remained placid. He looked at Daoist Sanyuan. "Is the Priest mistaken? It was your Quanshan that was unreasonable first. The ones in the wrong are your Quanshan, not This Chen. Does the Priest think that just because Quanshan is powerful, everyone must bow their heads in submission and give you face?"
"This Chen is not giving you that face today. What can you do about it?"
Daoist Sanyuan never got the chance to speak.
A figure strode over. "Good."
The newcomer had sharp eyebrows and bright eyes. His face did not look old; instead, he appeared to be a young man. He wore a pristine white Daoist robe, looking completely untainted by mortal dust. Yet there was something strange about him. His aura carried a faint gloom, and his eyes seemed rather dark and brooding.
Seeing this, Daoist Sanyuan hastily cupped his hands and called out, "Sect Master True Man."
The Quanshan Sect Master walked over slowly. His gaze fell upon Chen Changsheng. "My Quanshan is weak, while fellow Daoist's Dao Cultivation is quite profound. I assume fellow Daoist is not a cultivator of the Mortal World. This Mortal World is like an age of withered magic, so our cultivators naturally cannot compare to those from richer lands. For fellow Daoist to use such power to suppress others—is your conduct not also a case of the strong bullying the weak? It is truly contemptible."
Chen Changsheng looked at the man. "Your words are truly laughable. Your Quanshan doesn't know that there is a sky beyond the sky, and people beyond people, yet you blame others for bullying the weak. Furthermore, who told you This Chen was not a person of the mortal realm?"
The Sect Master True Man frowned slightly, but his brows quickly relaxed. "This humble Daoist does not quite understand. What is the point of you doing all this?"
Chen Changsheng looked at him and laughed. "When This Chen arrived, there was originally a matter I wished to discuss. But seeing the wicked disciples of Quanshan instantly killed my interest. The disciples are like this, the elders even more so, and now that I have met the Sect Master, I see that the Sect Master is cut from the same cloth. None of you are willing to admit your mistakes. Since that is the case, why bother talking? In This Chen's opinion, directly suppressing Quanshan will not only save time and effort, but also spare me from wasting my breath."
The Sect Master True Man burst into loud laughter.
"Fellow Daoist is truly spouting nonsense."
His laughter came to an abrupt halt. "Is my Quanshan made of clay roosters and tile dogs? Can you suppress us just because you say so?"
The Sect Master True Man took a step forward and let out a breath. "Very well. This humble Daoist originally intended to resolve this peacefully, with each of us taking a step back. But seeing how stubborn you are, this humble Daoist will make you understand what it truly means that there is a sky beyond the sky."
Chen Changsheng's expression remained calm. "Please, enlighten me."
The Sect Master True Man raised his hand, and several Talismans materialized to orbit his body.
With a flip of his palm, a Whisk fell into his grasp. The Whisk was extraordinary, radiating precious light and Magical Power. Without a doubt, it was a treasure of Divine Abilities.
"You injured my disciples with a Thunder Art, so this humble Daoist will use a Thunder Art to execute you."
The Sect Master True Man wore a serene expression. Raising his hand, he swept the Whisk.
The wind and clouds instantly changed color as unnatural phenomena sprang forth.
A Thunder Art crashed down from the sky above.
"Boom!"
This Thunder Art was several times more powerful than the previous one.
Lihua looked up and prepared to intercept this thunder tribulation. For Lihua, this would be incredibly easy.
But Chen Changsheng stopped it, so it held back.
Chen Changsheng raised his eyes to watch the thunder tribulation plunging straight toward him.
"Not a bad Thunder Art."
Chen Changsheng remarked evenly, then added, "But this is as far as it goes."
His words were woven with the power of heaven and earth.
The moment the edict was issued, the Thunder Art dissipated into thin air, vanishing right before their eyes.
The Talismans in the Sect Master True Man's hand burst into flames and turned to ash. He frowned slightly, as if he had realized something.
"An edict?"
The Sect Master True Man chuckled. "There are actually people who practice such unorthodox Divine Abilities?"
Chen Changsheng answered with a question of his own. "Unorthodox?"
The Sect Master True Man said, "This is what you rely on? Truly laughable."
Chen Changsheng looked at him. "Whether it's laughable or not, you'll know once you try. This Chen will grant you ten moves. If you can so much as touch a corner of This Chen's clothes, it will be your win."
Lihua's eyes lit up when it heard this.
It suddenly felt that Chen the Good Man was incredibly domineering today.
He didn't even seem like the same person.
