Immortal Travel of Longevity
Chapter 842: Black-and-White Twin Fish
Mo Yuan and Chen Changsheng inspected her countless times.
Worry clouded both their eyes.
Yu Hongjin, on the other hand, looked entirely unconcerned. She didn't quite understand what had them so tense.
That very indifference earned her a smack on the head from Mo Yuan.
"You're seriously not worried?" Mo Yuan snapped in exasperation. "Do you even know what that thing is? One wrong move and it's lethal!"
Yu Hongjin blinked. "Is it?"
It wasn't out of sheer naivety. The truth was, the thing hadn't harmed her in the slightest, nor did she feel any threat from it at all.
She certainly wasn't stupid.
Chen Changsheng pondered for a long moment before saying, "Perhaps you were born with this ability..."
Yu Hongjin paused, looking up at him.Mo Yuan also turned his gaze toward the Mister.
"Her innate qi destiny is already extraordinary," Chen Changsheng said. "Since ancient times, koi fish have been said to attract good fortune. This might be related to that. The good fortune and that calamity have intertwined, flowing like yin and yang—like a black and a white fish swimming in the water."
He gave Yu Hongjin another look. "You must have stumbled upon some fateful encounter in your early years."
Yu Hongjin stared blankly. "What encounter? Why wouldn't I know about it?"
"It's actually quite common," Chen Changsheng replied. "Once mountain spirits and demons gain sentience and take human form, they often awaken minor Divine Abilities. Some grasp them in an instant, while others might live their whole lives without ever realizing they have them."
He paused, adding, "Yours is a bit strange, though. It doesn't seem like an innate Divine Ability. Instead, it acts more like a cultivation method, pulling at the good fortune and calamity within you."
Mo Yuan listened closely before asking, "Mister, will this have any negative effect on her?"
"Naturally, it will have some effect," Chen Changsheng said. "But it won't necessarily be bad."
"Huh?" Mo Yuan blinked. "Don't tell me it's actually a good thing?"
Chen Changsheng nodded. "Perhaps. Watching her qi destiny circulate... it seems she might be able to wield that fortune and calamity for her own use."
Yu Hongjin perked up in surprise. "I can use it? How?"
Chen Changsheng shook his head. "This Chen cannot teach you that. You will have to slowly figure it out on your own."
Mo Yuan only had a half-baked understanding of matters regarding qi destiny.
"Of course, this is just This Chen's preliminary guess," Chen Changsheng added. "It's best to keep observing it to ensure nothing goes wrong."
"Right, right." Mo Yuan snapped back to attention. "Hongjin, whether you can use that qi destiny right now or not, you'd better not mess with it recklessly. Wait until Mister Chen has fully investigated it before making any plans."
Seeing how serious Mo Yuan was, Yu Hongjin quickly nodded in agreement.
"Are you sure you feel fine?" Mo Yuan asked again.
Yu Hongjin scratched her head. "I really am fine."
To prove it, she lifted the hem of her shirt, exposing her belly button.
She patted her round, plump belly to show she was completely fine.
Mo Yuan gave a helpless smile and reached out to pull her shirt back down. "A young lady shouldn't act so improperly."
Yu Hongjin blinked. "Mo Yuan, Mo Yuan, I'm a demon."
Mo Yuan was briefly taken aback. He supposed that was true, but after a second thought, he insisted, "Demons can't act like that either."
Yu Hongjin just blinked, still not quite understanding.
Mo Yuan let out a breath. "Speaking of which, I really owe you a huge favor this time."
Yu Hongjin stared at him in surprise. "Me?"
"Yes."
Mo Yuan patted her hair. "You helped me solve a massive problem. Still... if this calamity truly poses no threat to you, then that's wonderful. But if the opposite proves true..."
Mo Yuan furrowed his brow, looking down at her. "Why don't you come with me to the Desolate Sea? With me around, it'll prevent any mishaps."
Yu Hongjin shook her head vigorously. "No way, no way! What's so great about the Desolate Sea? There's absolutely nothing there. I'm not going!"
Chen Changsheng chuckled. "This girl likely has her own destiny."
He glanced up at Mo Yuan. "This Chen will keep a close eye on her. You don't need to worry."
Mo Yuan opened his mouth to say something, but ultimately just nodded.
The main reason he had stayed in the Mortal World for so long was because of the karmic calamity brought down upon him by the Heavenly Dao. Now that the calamity was resolved, it was time for him to return to Beicang in the Desolate Sea.
"Speaking of which, where did the Dragon Lord go?" Chen Changsheng asked.
"When Zhao Yuqing left that day, the Dragon Lord followed him," Mo Yuan replied. "He still hasn't returned, and I'm not sure where he went."
Chen Changsheng pondered this for a moment, but soon pushed the matter to the back of his mind.
Whatever the Old Dragon King or Zhao Yuqing were up to, he didn't care in the slightest.
"What are your plans now?" Chen Changsheng asked.
Mo Yuan thought it over. "I'll probably return to the Desolate Sea. Matters in Beicang have been piling up for far too long; I need to go deal with them."
"It is indeed time you returned..."
With the two of them chatting about business, Yu Hongjin completely lost interest.
She trotted happily back to the horse carriage.
"Sister Yun, Sister Yun!"
Yunxiang stroked her hair. "What's wrong?"
Yu Hongjin blinked excitedly. "I think I can do something amazing!"
Yunxiang was completely baffled by her words. She gave a helpless smile. "Speak clearly now. What is so amazing, and what exactly is it?"
Yu Hongjin quickly recounted everything that had just happened.
The moment she finished, Yunxiang delivered a sharp smack to Yu Hongjin's bottom.
"Ouch!"
Yu Hongjin rubbed her backside, quickly scooting backward.
"Sister Yun, why did you hit me?"
Yunxiang poked her firmly on the forehead. "You. You really just have to go poking around at everything, don't you? Aren't you afraid something might go wrong?"
"I'm not that stupid cat," Yu Hongjin retorted, blinking. "I know exactly what I can and can't touch."
Lihua, who had been lounging in the carriage, turned its head at those words.
It blinked its wide eyes. "Yu Hongjin, are you speaking badly about Lihua?"
Yu Hongjin stiffened, then replied. "No, I'm talking about someone else!"
"Oh."
Lihua grunted in acknowledgment and promptly went back to sleep.
Yunxiang chuckled. "Stop bullying Lihua."
"I am not."
Yu Hongjin paused, then waved her hand. "Ugh, we're getting off track. Anyway, from what Mister Chen said, that thing is super impressive! Basically... in short... I just don't know how to use it yet, yeah..."
Yunxiang paused thoughtfully. "Tell me, what form do those streams of qi destiny take in your dantian?"
Yu Hongjin closed her eyes, gazing inwardly at her dantian. "Like two fish. One biting the other's tail, like the Eight Trigrams. Hmm... wait, that's not quite right either. It's more like a white fish chasing two black fish around, yeah..."
"That smaller black fish," Yunxiang prompted, "it was there long before this, wasn't it?"
"Yeah."
"But before," Yu Hongjin explained, "that small black fish and the big white fish were both very quiet. They didn't move at all. It was only after this big black fish showed up that they all started spinning."
