Immortal Travel of Longevity

Chapter 772: Matters of Great Right and Wrong

  • Next Chapter

Early the next morning.

Chen Changsheng sat idly in the courtyard. He hadn't gone to eat noodles at the entrance of the tea house.

Because today, there was a show to watch.

Just as he expected, someone arrived at Chuanfeng Alley bright and early.

The King of Wei brought several guards and a cart laden with gifts.

He wasn't here for Chen Changsheng, however.

He had come to visit Miss Yun.

The King of Wei stood at the courtyard gate, smoothed his clothes, and knocked.

"Knock, knock, knock..."

Yu Hongjin came to open the door.

Who knew where she had run off to drink last night, but she reeked of alcohol from head to toe.

"Who is it?"

Yu Hongjin scratched her head and looked at the man in front of her.

She paused, instantly recognizing the King of Wei. "It's you."

Her gaze immediately turned hostile.

"What do you want? Looking for a beating?" Yu Hongjin asked bluntly.

Prince Wei froze, then said, "This..."

He had been a little angry, but remembering his purpose for coming today, he held his temper.

"I have come to visit your young lady. Is Miss Yun in the courtyard?"

Yu Hongjin shot him a look and said, "Not here, not here. Go, go, go."

With that, she moved to shut the door in his face.

Prince Wei reached out to stop the door, but Yu Hongjin proved much stronger than him.

With a loud bang, the door slammed shut.

Fortunately, the King of Wei had quick reflexes and pulled back in time, or his hand would have been crushed.

"This is outrageous!"

Prince Wei was fuming. He paced back and forth, tempted to just leave and forget the whole thing, but after a moment's hesitation, he had no choice but to swallow his temper.

Right at that moment, he heard the sound of a door opening.

Prince Wei paused and looked back.

The gate of the courtyard directly opposite had opened.

He caught sight of Chen Changsheng.

Prince Wei's mood instantly soured again.

"Oh," Chen Changsheng laughed. "If it isn't Prince Wei. What a rare guest."

Prince Wei couldn't be bothered with him and turned his head away.

Chen Changsheng smiled, then moved his chair to face the doorway directly.

He sat there, looking exactly as if he were watching a play.

Prince Wei felt the gaze on his back and couldn't bear it any longer. He turned around and snapped, "What are you looking at?!"

Chen Changsheng said, "What's wrong? I can't even look? Are you here to do something shady?"

"You, Chen!" Prince Wei snapped. "You burned my Prince's Manor! I haven't even settled that score with you yet! Do you think you're so amazing just because you know a little Daoist magic? Let me tell you, I'll bring a crowd here later, and then we'll see what you can do!"

Chen Changsheng blinked and said, "This Chen is exactly that amazing. What are you going to do about it?"

"You—!"

Prince Wei was momentarily at a loss for words. This guy, Chen Changsheng, never played by the rules.

Furious, he glared coldly at Chen Changsheng. "I have important business to attend to today. I will settle my score with you later!"

Chen Changsheng nodded. "Take your time, take your time. This Chen has nothing to do today either. I'll just sit here at the door and watch you make a fool of yourself."

Prince Wei frowned. "Did you deliberately order someone to make things difficult for me?"

Chen Changsheng replied, "Do you think This Chen is like you, King of Wei? I would disdain to use such underhanded tricks."

Prince Wei snorted coldly, then stepped forward and knocked on the door again.

Yu Hongjin heard the knocking and could guess who was at the door, but she didn't want to open it. She just let him keep knocking.

Resting upstairs, Yunxiang heard the noise.

She walked to the stairs and asked, "Hongjin, who's outside?"

Yu Hongjin answered, "Sister Yun, it's that King of Wei from last time."

Yunxiang paused. "The King of Wei..."

Things had ended quite unpleasantly the last time.

She had assumed the King of Wei wouldn't come back after that.

Yunxiang regained her focus and said, "Go open the door."

Yu Hongjin shook her head. "Sister Yun, that guy is no good. Why even bother with him?"

Yunxiang walked downstairs. "If it were just me, your Sister Yun, ignoring him would be best. But when it comes to the trading firm, we can't completely deny him face. He is a prince, after all."

Yu Hongjin pursed her lips and grumbled unwillingly, "Got it, got it..."

With that, she got up and headed toward the door.

"Stop knocking!"

Yu Hongjin yelled, then pulled the door open.

She glared at Prince Wei. "Come in."

Prince Wei paused for a second before stepping inside.

The guards behind him tried to follow him in.

But Yu Hongjin suddenly spoke up. "Hey, only you get to come in! Everyone else, stay outside and behave!"

"Huh?!"

A guard frowned and glared at Yu Hongjin.

Yu Hongjin glared right back. "What are you glaring at? Do you think you're so tough just because of that uniform? Huh!"

Enraged, the guard moved his hand to the sword at his waist.

Right then, Prince Wei ordered, "All of you, stay outside!"

"Your Highness..."

Prince Wei gave them a cold glare. "Can you not understand my orders?"

Reluctant as they were, the guards obeyed the order and stepped back.

Yu Hongjin glanced at the guard. "Weren't you acting all arrogant? Let me tell you, someone else wore that exact same uniform before. He was even more arrogant than you, and now the grass on his grave is ten feet high!"

The guards swallowed their anger.

But since the prince hadn't spoken, they didn't dare say a word.

Seeing this, Prince Wei felt incredibly helpless. He was the dignified King of Wei, yet here he was, lowering himself to grovel just to visit a merchant. The world had truly changed.

"Well said," Chen Changsheng laughed.

Yu Hongjin blinked, then quickly ran over to Chen Changsheng's side.

"Hey, hey, hey."

Chen Changsheng patted her head. "What is it?"

Yu Hongjin asked, "Do you have any wine? I drank all of mine."

Chen Changsheng whispered, "Wait until later. Your Sister Yun is watching, and This Chen will get scolded in a bit too. Keep your voice down."

Yu Hongjin blinked, signaling that she understood.

Chen Changsheng smiled. More often than not, Yu Hongjin was quite amusing.

Yu Hongjin then asked, "What is this King of Wei here for?"

"To discuss business, of course," Chen Changsheng replied.

The commoners under the King of Wei's rule enjoyed peace, and there was little turmoil in his lands. However, he had a crucial shortcoming in matters of commerce. It was a fatal flaw.

Years ago, the King of Wei had taken in refugees from the territories of the other princes. After that grudge was formed, several princes announced they would no longer trade with him, severely strangling his domain. Over the years, Prince Wei had been trying to find a way to change this situation. The reason he had resorted to such underhanded tricks back then was simply that he was too impatient.

"What kind of business?" Yu Hongjin asked.

"The business comes later. Today, he's here to build a relationship."

Yunxiang couldn't make decisions regarding the Tang Family Trading Firm, but she could pull strings. Most of the firm's affairs were managed by Tang Mingjing. Since this involved a prince, Yunxiang would never make such a decision for Young Master Tang.

"Build a relationship?" Yu Hongjin blinked. "Don't they have a grudge? What kind of relationship is he hoping for?"

Chen Changsheng smiled. "Although this King of Wei might be a little out of line at times, he never wavers when it comes to matters of great right and wrong, and he's more than willing to swallow his pride."
