Immortal Travel of Longevity

Chapter 736: Women, Children, and the Elderly

These jianghu men were even more vicious than the mountain bandits.

The man leading them carried a great saber resting on his shoulder. The blade was half as wide as his body; if stood on end, it would reach his shoulder.

With just a glancing blow, a bandit was sent flying dozens of feet. He smashed into a tree, hung there for a split second, and slid to the ground, dead before he could even choke out a sound.

The man wielding the great saber wore a manic smile.

"Hahaha..."

Amid his roaring laughter, one man after another fell to the great saber.

In mere moments, the bandits who had charged out to fight were wiped out, leaving the ground littered with corpses.

At the back of the stronghold, the jianghu men found a group of women, children, and the elderly.

"Clang!"

The great saber struck the earth with a resounding crash.

The vicious-faced man glanced at the group before him. Unsurprisingly, these were the wives, children, and elderly parents of the bandits.

"Leave the young ones. Kill the rest!"

At his command, several men stepped forward from behind him.

"No!"

"Don't kill me, please don't..."

"Help! Help me..."

"Don't touch my mother! Don't touch her!"

"Mother!"

Amid the endless screams and pleas, no one was left alive except the children.

The man wielding the great saber looked at the sobbing, screaming children before him. A smirk tugged at the corners of his mouth. "How fun," he said. "So fun..."

Blood flowed from the corpses sprawled on the ground, piled together in a chaotic heap.

Dozens of children huddled together, their eyes filled with anger, fear, and hatred.

"Ahhh!"

A boy pulled a pair of scissors from behind his back and charged.

"I'll kill you!"

But he was immediately stopped.

"Let me go! Let me go!"

The boy thrashed, and the scissors were knocked from his grip, clattering to the ground.

The man dragged his great saber forward. Smiling down at the boy, he asked, "You want to kill me?"

"Heh."

The man chuckled. "Listen well."

"Your father, your mother, your uncles—I killed them all!"

The man roared with laughter.

The laughter rang in the boy's ears. With bloodshot eyes, he glared at the man, screaming so fiercely that spit dribbled from his mouth.

The man's laughter faded. "You can't kill me now, but that's fine. I'll give you a chance. Five years, ten years—I'll be waiting for you to come find me. Remember this: my surname is Yang, and my given name is Pu. They call me Mad Blade Man-Slayer."

"Little guy," Yang Pu said, his tone turning calm. "When you grow up, you have to come seek revenge on your Uncle Yang. When you do, I'll send you to reunite with your parents and your uncles."

The surrounding men seemed entirely used to such wild arrogance, watching calmly.

He was like a madman, his arrogance knowing no bounds.

"Ahhh! Ahhhh!"

The boy roared and struggled, screaming until his throat tore.

But he was ultimately too frail; he had no chance at all.

Yang Pu's mocking smile suddenly vanished into a cold mask. He waved a hand. "Let's go."

He left the children there, not harming a single hair on their heads.

The group began to head down the mountain.

Yang Pu paused, sensing a gaze resting upon him.

"Hmm?"

He turned his head to look.

Through the gaps in the foliage, he spotted a cabin not far away. Two men stood out front, observing them.

A smirk touched Yang Pu's lips. He picked up a stone from the ground.

Raising his hand, he hurled it toward them.

Seeing the incoming stone, the Old Dragon King raised a hand and blocked it.

By the time it reached his hand, the stone had already crumbled to dust.

Yang Pu glanced back at his men. "Head down the mountain first. I'll be right back!"

He charged toward the cabin, dragging the great saber behind him. The blade scraped against the mountain rocks, throwing off a trail of sparks.

Chen Changsheng said, "He's coming."

The Old Dragon King said, "This man is out of his mind. He likely suffered a cultivation deviation."

Chen Changsheng stroked his chin. "His blood vigor actually feels a bit familiar to This Chen."

But he couldn't quite place it at the moment.

"Oh?" The Old Dragon King shot him a glance. "You have an interest in martial arts too?"

Chen Changsheng smiled. "I read a few manuals in my early years."

As they spoke, the harsh scraping of the great saber grew closer.

"Haaah..."

Yang Pu spun around, using the torque of his waist to hurl the great saber straight at the two men.

Thrum.

The great saber hummed violently.

Chen Changsheng tilted his head slightly.

The Old Dragon King thought for a moment, then raised his hand.

"Clang!"

With a sharp crack, the Old Dragon King blocked the blade with a single hand. His fingers even dug into the steel.

Just one hand.

The eager Yang Pu froze at the sight.

His footsteps faltered.

His expression suddenly changed.

The Old Dragon King gave a cold snort and casually flung the great saber back.

Stunned, Yang Pu threw out both hands to catch it.

But the force was far beyond what he had imagined.

The moment he grasped the great saber, a bone-tearing pain shot through him. He hastily spun around several times, using his waist and abdomen to bleed off the momentum.

Only after five full rotations did Yang Pu manage to come to a stop.

He gasped for breath. In that brief moment, the blood vigor on his body had been almost entirely drained.

His eyes bloodshot, Yang Pu stared fixedly at the man in front of him and uttered a single sentence.

"You're not human!"

The Old Dragon King was a little surprised to hear this, but he nodded. "To realize that so quickly, you must have seen a few things in your time."

Yang Pu leaned on his great saber and stood up.

His eyes remained fixed on the Old Dragon King. "A demon? An Immortal?"

The Old Dragon King stroked his beard. "Both," he replied with a hint of amusement.

A dragon was a Divine Beast, but it was also a demon. Yet he was the Dragon Lord of the Tongtian River, as well as a Water God of the Mortal World. Demon and Immortal—he laid claim to both, so his answer was not wrong.

Yang Pu paused, as if realizing something.

"May I ask which celestial official you are?"

The Old Dragon King glanced at Chen Changsheng. "This kid seems to know quite a bit."

Chen Changsheng looked at Yang Pu. "You don't need to concern yourself with who we are. The two of us are simply curious—who are you, and why did you come up this mountain to kill bandits?"

Yang Pu caught his breath. "Swallows fly south, and return north in the spring. I am Yang Pu, a Saber Wielder of Southern Yan. As for my reasons today? I simply didn't like the look of them."

"You simply didn't like the look of them?" Chen Changsheng asked.

Yang Pu said, "What reason is needed to kill a bandit? Is finding them an eyesore not enough?"

The Old Dragon King chuckled. "You're an interesting little brat. Killing bandits is indeed the work of righteous men in the jianghu. Yet, after slaying the bandits, you massacred their wives and elders, leaving only the children behind—and you even invited them to seek revenge on you in the future. The arrogance and bloodlust in your eyes cannot be hidden at all."
