Immortal Travel of Longevity
Chapter 689: The Person I'm Waiting For Has Arrived
Long Rong raised her hand, summoning the water.
"Condense!"
As her voice fell, the lake water took on the forms of ten thousand demons, rising with a wild roar.
The Little Beggar laughed at the sight.
"Truly a dog-eat-dog fight."
On the other side, Shangguan Ningjing had already climbed onto the incense Ritual Cauldron, pulling the Old Ox up along with him.
Shangguan Ningjing sighed deeply to himself. 'This is really going to be the death of me.'
The Old Ox looked at the incense candles suspended in midair beside them. He paused for a moment and asked, "Little Brother Shangguan, will we be fine if we just burn the incense?"
Shangguan Ningjing paused at the question before answering, "I'd advise against that."
The others were keeping a constant eye on this spot. The Old Ox blinked, not entirely understanding.
"Just don't move for now."
Shangguan Ningjing let out a breath and added, "Of course, if you're in a hurry to die, you can give it a try."
Hearing this, the Old Ox hesitated briefly before dropping the idea.
Meanwhile, on the other side.
The clash between Lu Qishan and Long Rong sent tremors through all of Lake Mountain.
The lake churned, erupting into massive columns of water.
Lu Qishan summoned flying rocks from the mountain streams and hurled them forward with a wave of her hand.
Gripping her Long Spear, she lunged straight ahead.
The Long Spear swept and flicked, brushing past Long Rong's clothes. It left a mark but failed to harm her in the slightest.
The two women struck out with their palms simultaneously.
A thunderous boom rang out as the water screen exploded.
Both stumbled backward.
Watching from afar, Tu Hu and Zhu Wuneng saw that the situation was an even match.
Zhu Wuneng remarked, "This snake demon has some skill."
Tu Hu narrowed his eyes and said, "Her ambitions are great."
"Hm?"
Zhu Wuneng looked at Tu Hu and asked, "Great ambitions?"
Tu Hu merely replied, "Stupid pig."
Zhu Wuneng chuckled. "I'm stupid?"
He thought for a moment before saying, "Then Old Pig will step in and lend Sister Lu a hand!"
As he spoke, he raised a hand and summoned a Long Saber. The blade was densely covered with patterns and totems of various demons, radiating rolling waves of black mist.
"Sister Lu! Old Pig is here to help you!"
With those words, Zhu Wuneng stepped into the fray.
Tu Hu narrowed his eyes as he watched Zhu Wuneng's back.
This pig really knew how to stir up trouble.
If it were up to him, they would just let the women fight. Once one died, there would be no need to compete anymore.
Tu Hu shifted his gaze to the Little Beggar, who was standing there with crossed arms.
The Little Beggar watched the spectacle with great interest, as if treating it all as a mere game.
Yan Qun was similarly content to sit back and watch the tigers fight. He had no wish for the situation to escalate; a chaotic brawl would likely end in disaster.
Zhu Wuneng swung his Long Saber at Long Rong.
Seeing this, Lu Qishan frowned and snapped, "Get lost! Who asked you to interfere?"
Zhu Wuneng did not take offense. He laughed and said, "What are you talking about, Sister Lu? Isn't Old Pig just helping you out?"
"Watch the blade!"
With that, he swung at Long Rong again.
Lu Qishan had no choice but to press forward, summoning rock and earth as she advanced with wide strides.
Long Rong furrowed her brow tightly.
She raised a hand, and countless slips of paper flew from her sleeves.
The slips of paper transformed into humanoid figures, forming a barrier in front of her.
But against Zhu Wuneng's Long Saber, these Paper Effigies were cleaved apart in a single strike.
Long Rong darted her gaze left and right, defending against them both.
In a mere instant, she was forced onto the defensive.
She steadily lost ground.
Anxiety swelled in Long Rong's chest.
'Things can't go on like this.'
"Shhk..."
The Long Spear pierced her shoulder, leaving a gash that bled freely.
Long Rong retreated several steps until she reached the very edge of the lake.
Xue Dong raised her brows slightly and said, "Sister, they're ganging up on her."
Xue Ling paused, understanding her younger sister's meaning.
The two girls raised their hands, and the spiritual energy of heaven and earth surged.
A heavy snowstorm howled toward them, bringing a bitterly cold wind.
Its momentum descended upon Long Rong. In the blink of an eye, she borrowed the might of this heaven-sent blizzard and leaned forward, pressing her attack.
"Rise!"
She threw her arms wide. The flying snow converged, taking the shape of armored cavalry. Amidst the swirling snow, the thundering gallop of warhorses could be heard.
An army of thousands could be seen charging forward to kill.
Lu Qishan and Zhu Wuneng rapidly retreated.
They shattered the spiritual soldiers made of flying snow one after another, yet the chilling aura of slaughter did not fade in the slightest.
Long Rong let out a breath of relief. She looked at the two snow spirit sisters and expressed her gratitude. "Thank you."
With the momentum of this blizzard, the situation had become rather tricky.
Long Rong fell into a deadlock with the two in front of her; neither side made another move.
Meanwhile, Lu Qishan's goal had already been achieved.
"The person I've been waiting for has arrived."
Lu Qishan announced.
Everyone looked up to see a streak of white light descending from the horizon.
The Little Beggar opened his Dharma Eye.
As he looked over, he saw the true form of a seven-tailed spirit fox.
He froze in surprise, muttering under his breath, "Seven tails..."
'This is going to be trouble.'
The Little Beggar furrowed his brow; the situation seemed to have exceeded his expectations.
Hu Shilan's gaze swept over the crowd.
As their eyes met, Long Rong's pupils shrank. A sudden wave of pressure washed over her, and her body began to tremble uncontrollably under its weight.
The expressions of everyone present turned grim.
"Hu Shilan!"
Tu Hu gritted his teeth, squeezing the name out from between them.
He hated this white fox to the bone. Back then, the great upheaval of the Thirty-Six Caves had started because of her. If not for that, why would they have suffered internal strife, and how could that pig have found an opening to exploit?
Under that terrifying pressure, Shangguan Ningjing turned deathly pale, hunching over.
"Cough..."
His expression was grave as he desperately held on.
In this moment, he finally realized just how laughable his thoughts had been, and just how shamelessly boastful his earlier words truly were.
The Old Ox also looked like he was struggling. Trembling, he asked, "Little Brother Shangguan, can you hold up?"
Shangguan Ningjing could barely speak.
He wondered to himself.
'Just what kind of monster is this?'
Hu Shilan looked at Lu Qishan and smiled warmly. "Thank you, Sister Qishan."
Lu Qishan breathed a sigh of relief and said, "How do you manage to be late every single time?"
Hu Shilan looked slightly apologetic. "I ran into a friend and chatted for a bit."
"What friend?"
"He came along too."
Just as she spoke, a sharp cry echoed from the clouds above.
Qingdiao pierced through the layer of clouds, entering everyone's vision.
"Qingdiao..."
"It's him."
Zhu Wuneng and Tu Hu were somewhat surprised.
"He survived too? What a charmed life..."
Tu Hu had thought him dead long ago.
Qingdiao descended from the mist, shifting into human form above the lake.
He swept his gaze across the people before him, then cupped his hands in greeting. "Qing Tianyou pays his respects to you all."
Yet right after he finished speaking, he suddenly paused.
Sensing something, he looked back.
His gaze landed on the shore.
A figure in a green robe was sitting there, looking back at him.
Qing Tianyou froze, rubbing his eyes as if he had seen incorrectly.
Hu Shilan followed his line of sight.
It was only then that she noticed the person on the shore.
In that instant, Hu Shilan was similarly dumbfounded.
"Why is he here..."
