Immortal Travel of Longevity
Chapter 680: Like the Great Sage Equal to Heaven
Daoist Wuwei flicked the Tianpeng Ruler in his hand and gave a cold snort. "If anyone wants to come up before the incense burns out, you are more than welcome to try!"
Leaving those words behind, the Daoist stood quiet guard before the incense cauldron.
Absolute silence fell over the upper floor, with no one making a sound. Not a single demon dared to cause any more trouble.
On the shore, Lihua, resting on Mo Yuan's shoulder, couldn't help but say, "So majestic..."
Ruyi reached out and tapped its head. "Stupid Lihua. That Daoist wanted to kill you earlier, and now you're praising him for being majestic."
"Mmm..."
Lihua let out a soft hum. "But he really is majestic."
Ping'an smiled. "Lihua is just being magnanimous, I suppose."
Ruyi turned her head and shot him a look.
Ping'an froze, instantly understanding her meaning. He shut his mouth without needing her to say another word.Ruyi gave a soft snort and let the matter drop.
Watching this unfold, Mo Yuan laughed. "With a temper like that, Miss Ruyi, what will you do if you can't get married in the future?"
Ruyi thought for a moment. "Either I don't marry at all, or I marry someone I like."
Hearing this, Ping'an couldn't help but ask, "What if he isn't willing?"
"Then I'll just tie him up," Ruyi said.
'I'll just tie him up...'
That sentence echoed in Ping'an's mind, and he let out an inward sigh.
'As expected of my older sister,' he thought.
'She was unreasonable when we were little, and now that she's grown, she acts even more like a bandit.'
'Whatever are we going to do?'
Ruyi tugged on her fishing rod. "I'm not afraid. Don't I have you? If I get thrown in, Ping'an, you have to come fish me out of prison."
Ping'an smiled helplessly. "It would be best if that day never comes."
"What? You wouldn't fish me out?"
"Of course not. If you ever went to prison, I would keep you safe even if I had to give up being an official."
Ruyi smiled. "Now that's your sister's good Ping'an."
Ping'an beamed. He acted like a little boy, happy to hear his older sister coaxing him as if he were a child.
Hearing this, Lihua muttered, "Ruyi is going to end up in prison at least eight hundred times. How could he possibly protect her through all of that..."
"What did you say?!"
Startled, Lihua quickly said, "...Lihua didn't say anything."
"Did I say it was you?"
...
"Stop rubbing! Stop rubbing! Lihua has lost so much fur, I'm really going to go bald!"
"Ruyi, please stop rubbing!"
"Chen the Good Man, save me! Mo Yuan, Mo Yuan, save Lihua!"
"No one can save you today!"
Mo Yuan and Chen Changsheng remained unmoved, acting as if they hadn't heard a thing.
Lihua suffered a merciless ravaging.
Ping'an didn't even dare to watch.
A smile touched the corners of Mo Yuan's mouth. These two siblings were quite interesting.
He turned to look at Mister.
He felt as if he understood something a little better now.
Perhaps the playful banter of the Mortal World truly was healing Mister's exhausted heart.
Whether it was Mao'er, or Ping'an and Ruyi, it was all the same.
Cultivators in the world always said that the mortal realm hurt people, but looking at it now, perhaps that wasn't entirely true.
Chen Changsheng's gaze drifted toward the distant mountain peak.
The battle between the Monkey and the snake demon had finally come to an end.
Boom!!
A deafening explosion rang out.
The mountains and the lake water trembled together.
A figure was sent flying downward, growing larger and larger in everyone's eyes.
Crash!
The Monkey, covered in blood, smashed into the lake, kicking up waves several zhang high.
The 'True Dragon' swooped down like a deity descending to the mortal realm, once again coiling around the pavilion.
Long Rong's gaze fell on the lake.
The Monkey's staff floated up from the lake water, followed soon after by the Monkey himself, heavily wounded and on the verge of death.
Long Rong hesitated for a moment but didn't strike again. She simply said in a cold, detached tone, "This is but a minor punishment. If you offend again, I will not spare you!"
In truth, she was still wary of the person hidden in the dark—the one who had severed her momentum over the water.
Now was not the time to cause extra trouble.
As soon as she spoke, the crowd observing from the shore erupted in excitement.
"Mighty Dragon Immortal!"
"The might of a True Dragon is truly... truly..."
Some people babbled incoherently, their bodies trembling with excitement as they completely forgot themselves.
This was a True Dragon, after all.
Mo Yuan looked over and clicked his tongue. "This little monkey is in a miserable state. His original form was beaten out of him, and he only has a single breath left."
Chen Changsheng said, "He is quite pitiful, though he was acting rather foolishly."
Mo Yuan chuckled. "I actually like his temperament. He's like the Great Sage Equal to Heaven from the stories."
"Wukong, is it..."
"Mister, I said the Great Sage Equal to Heaven. The two are not the same."
Hearing this, Chen Changsheng smiled and said, "Fair point."
Mo Yuan said, "Mister, why don't we help him out?"
Chen Changsheng asked, "Are you hoping he'll go cultivate at Lingtai Fangcun Mountain like in the books, just to go out and cause a massive disaster later?"
"How big of a disaster could he possibly cause?" Mo Yuan said.
Chen Changsheng looked at the Monkey in the water and said, "That's hard to say..."
This monkey was not someone to be trifled with.
Mo Yuan said, "We should still save his life. Otherwise, if these commoners catch him, I'm afraid he won't survive."
With that, he raised his hand, guiding a trace of water momentum.
The lake water suddenly shot up into the sky, lifting the blood-soaked Monkey and carrying him away from the area.
Witnessing this, Long Rong was taken aback.
In that brief moment, she traced the flow of the water to see who had intervened.
Her gaze swept back and forth before finally landing on the small group sitting by the lake shore.
When her eyes met Mo Yuan's, Long Rong's heart skipped a beat. In a daze, she nearly shattered her own illusion, but fortunately, she managed to recover her wits in an instant.
But in that split second, she had seen a True Dragon looking down from the Nine Heavens. That majestic Dragon's Might had struck terror into her soul, making her want to bow in submission.
"A True... Dragon..."
The words squeezed out of Long Rong's mouth, her eyes filled with absolute disbelief.
Yet this being was not the Old Dragon King of the Tongtian River.
Their auras were completely different!
"It's him!"
Long Rong suddenly remembered.
It was that black dragon!
The one who had walked the waters to undergo Dragon Transformation not long ago!
Long Rong turned pale with fright. She never imagined that this figure would actually be here today.
Then he must have seen through all of this.
If that was the case, wouldn't her pretending to be a dragon bring disaster upon her...?
Long Rong was completely consumed by worry, and she immediately went on high alert.
Mo Yuan withdrew his gaze and said dryly, "Boring..."
Chen Changsheng said, "Right now, she is merely a snake demon. She isn't even a python yet. How could she not be afraid of you?"
Mo Yuan said, "Back at Jade Wave Lake, the Old Dragon King tried to intimidate me like this once, but I forcefully pushed right back against it."
Chen Changsheng chuckled. "How else would you have survived the Heavenly Tribulation five times?"
Mo Yuan smiled, feeling a bit of secret delight. "It was just alright, heh."
Chen Changsheng said, "Only you could say something like that."
Mo Yuan kept smiling. Around Mister, he never had to pretend to be anything he wasn't.
Coming back to his senses, he suddenly felt his fishing rod twitch.
Mo Yuan spoke up. "Looks like a fish took the bait."
Chen Changsheng looked over and saw that Mo Yuan's rod was indeed moving.
Ping'an and Ruyi both turned their eyes toward it.
The most excited of all was Lihua.
"Is it a big fish?" Lihua asked curiously.
Mo Yuan laughed. "Once I reel it in, you can eat it."
