Immortal Travel of Longevity
Chapter 675: The Eccentric King of Wei
Prince Wei flatly refused to admit that his apology had been half-hearted.
But anyone with a discerning eye would know: who in their right mind would give a portrait of a completely unrelated person as an apology gift?
Chen Changsheng took another look at the portrait and said, "This Chen will accept this Painted Scroll. If there ever comes a day when Prince Wei wishes to have it back, just come find this Chen."
Prince Wei, however, waved his hand. "How could there be any logic in taking back something that has already been given away?"
He had thought Chen Changsheng would use the Painted Scroll to mock him.
But he had guessed wrong. Chen Changsheng's gaze showed genuine interest in the Painted Scroll.
Chen Changsheng smiled. "Back in those days, this Chen didn't look at this portrait closely, nor did I imagine that King Yu had been this handsome."
The person in the portrait looked vastly different from Mister Zhulan in his twilight years. Back then, he had been so full of youthful vigor and high spirits.
The King of Wei paused upon hearing this. "King Yu?"
"Did Prince Wei not read the text attached beside the Painted Scroll?""Cough, cough..."
Prince Wei hadn't looked at it at all. Chen Changsheng was right; he had just grabbed it at random.
Chen Changsheng chuckled. "This Chen won't say any more. Many thanks to the King of Wei."
Hearing this, Prince Wei waved his hand. "It's a small matter."
He paused and added, "But let us be clear. After this, the matters of the past are entirely written off. Neither of us will ever bring them up again, and this king can finally consider this grudge settled."
Chen Changsheng shook his head. "Prince Wei, it is not up to this Chen to decide that."
Prince Wei paused. "What do you mean?"
"The person Prince Wei wanted to threaten back then was Miss Yun of the Tang Family Trading Firm. Although the matter involved this Chen, deciding to let bygones be bygones is not something this Chen can choose."
"Hey, you!"
The King of Wei started in surprise. "Are you trying to take advantage of this king again? What difference is there between that Miss Yun and you?!"
"Of course it's different," Chen Changsheng said with a smile. "This Chen is this Chen, and Miss Yun is Miss Yun."
"You..."
The King of Wei paused. He opened his mouth but didn't know what to say.
He couldn't help but feel a headache coming on. He looked at Chen Changsheng and said, "Why didn't you say so earlier? Hasn't this king just wasted half the day chatting with you?"
Chen Changsheng blinked. "How can Prince Wei blame this Chen? This Chen never asked Prince Wei to come and apologize."
Prince Wei paused. He opened his mouth and said, "Fine, fine, fine. Good, good, good."
He stretched out his hand. "Give me back the Painted Scroll."
Chen Changsheng blinked. "Prince Wei just said you wouldn't take it back."
Prince Wei retorted, "And you just said you'd give it back."
"That doesn't count anymore."
"Then this king's words don't count either!"
"You are a dignified prince. How can you be so shameless!"
"You look respectable enough, but do you have any shame yourself?"
"Hey, you!"
"Don't 'you' me!"
Prince Wei slammed the table, and the two instantly started bickering.
The noise in the courtyard rapidly grew louder.
Immediately after, the guards waiting in the alley outside heard the commotion and rushed in all at once.
"Your Highness!"
"Your Highness!"
The guards drew their sabers and swords, pointing them all at Chen Changsheng.
"Cease your insolence toward His Highness!"
The small courtyard was almost completely packed with the King of Wei's men.
Prince Wei was instantly stunned. He hurriedly waved his hands. "Stop! Put down your sabers and swords! Put them down!"
The guards were all taken aback, hesitating and looking somewhat at a loss.
Chen Changsheng paused and looked at Prince Wei. "Oh? Didn't Prince Wei say you came alone? Why are there so many people guarding the alley outside? Oh..."
"Could it be that you were ready to capture this Chen at a moment's notice?"
Chen Changsheng sneered. "So this is how Prince Wei operates. This Chen has truly had his eyes opened."
Hearing this, Prince Wei pointed at Chen Changsheng. "Fuck! You're talking nonsense!"
Chen Changsheng cursed back, "Fuck you!"
Prince Wei's eyes widened. He rolled up his sleeves and shouted, "Hey, you surnamed Chen, this king has really given you too much face!"
Hearing this, the guards prepared to attack.
Seeing them step forward, Prince Wei snapped, "What are you doing here? Get out! Go wait outside!"
The guards were stunned again.
"Get out!" the King of Wei cursed again.
Only then did the guards move, retreating from the courtyard one by one.
"Close the door!"
A guard flinched, carefully pulling the door shut.
Prince Wei looked at Chen Changsheng again. "This king will give you a chance to fight one-on-one, so don't say this king is bullying you!"
Chen Changsheng blinked. "Shouldn't this Chen be the one saying that?"
Prince Wei clenched his fist and strode forward.
"Take this king's fist!"
Chen Changsheng raised his hand, opened his palm, and caught Prince Wei's fist.
The King of Wei was instantly stunned.
"Huh?"
This force...
Something was wrong!
Prince Wei paused in shock. "What's going on with you?"
Chen Changsheng said, "Prince Wei, did you perhaps think this Chen would be easy to bully because of my thin arms and legs? To tell you the truth, this Chen has practiced martial arts."
Hearing this, Prince Wei hurriedly wrenched his hand free and stumbled back two steps.
"Why didn't you say so earlier!"
Chen Changsheng was taken aback. "What do you mean?"
"I'm not fighting anymore!"
"Ah?"
Chen Changsheng stared blankly for a moment.
Then, he burst out laughing.
Prince Wei said, "This king is a gentleman and disdains fighting you. I will temporarily give you a chance: admit your mistake, and this king won't hold it against you."
Chen Changsheng didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
This King of Wei was truly a bit too eccentric, wasn't he?
Chen Changsheng said, "This Chen will also give the King of Wei a chance. Admit your mistake, and this Chen won't hold it against you. Otherwise, this Chen will beat you to a pulp."
Prince Wei coughed lightly and took another step back. "Don't try anything crazy, or this king will call for help!"
Chen Changsheng looked at him calmly. "Call all those guards in. Call them all, and let's see if this Chen can't beat them up alongside you."
Prince Wei blinked, suddenly feeling somewhat hesitant.
Back then, that old man had killed seventeen or eighteen of his Shadow Guards. What kind of skills did this person have?
That wouldn't do.
He couldn't afford to suffer such a loss for nothing.
Prince Wei coldly snorted. "Just you wait. This isn't over."
Chen Changsheng smiled. "This Chen will be waiting right here."
Prince Wei then hurriedly stormed out the door, leaving one last sentence as he left.
"Just you wait!"
Chen Changsheng walked to the door and called out, "Take care. I won't see you out."
Saying this, he closed the door.
Prince Wei glanced back and cursed again, "Pah, acting like a petty villain!"
With that, he led the group of guards away.
Ouyang Feng, in the courtyard across the street, had witnessed the entire scene.
He laughed out loud. "This King of Wei is truly interesting."
He had been wondering whether he needed to step in and fight, but it seemed there was no need.
However, speaking of which...
How could this King of Wei have such a temperament?
He didn't act like a prince at all. Instead, he acted like a cowardly street ruffian, capable only of pulling shameless tricks.
That final sentence... was he perhaps cursing himself?
Ouyang Feng shook his head and smiled. "This alley has really gotten lively."
